How important is the Sabbath?

Christ resurrection was on Monday evening, the day of Firstfruits.

The day of first fruits was always the next day after the weekly sabbaths.

It was critical to count from that day to the Sunday of pentecost.

But yes He did not rise on Sunday but was already risen as the empty tomb discovered that Sunday morning testified.

He rose the day before...

Sabbath rest heals and refreshes...

Mark 16:1
When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of Jacob, and Salome, they had bought spices so that they might go to anoint Yahshua's body.

Luke 23:56
Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandments.

Luke 24:1
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb.
The word "day" is not in the original text.

Christ was buried Friday evening, that was preparation day. He also said he would be buried three days and nights. Do the math.

But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

1 Corinthians 15:23
But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him.

Firstfruits is on Monday, after Un-leavened Bread.

ummm...you do believe in miracles yes? Or is the Med too deep and cold for Him?

Jonah drowned and the story is a perfect example of what happens when a person dies.

Jonah's miracle is that his life was restored and he never even knew he had died.

Relax...Not lying in the belly of a great fish 3 days and nights does not mean He did not die...

If you've ever spent time in the belly of a great fish you would know there is no air.

Jonah had no idea where he was until the fish spit him out onto a beach.

Because of stomach acids and bacteria Jonah's flesh also had to be restored.

He came out of the fish a new man with a different attitude. When God asks, do it.

He said He would be arrested tried tortured then killed ...and on the third day rise...

Third day from His being arrested not killed...

You don't believe in miracles?

As in his life was preserved

he prayed and in his prayer not one mention of death or resurrection...

Fainting is not death if it was death he would have said so...

Don't make Jonah a liar now too...

For what purpose? God was not torturing Jonah, he simply let him drown.

God then prepared a great fish to swallow the body and then had the fish deposit Jonah on a beach. If those aren't miracles, what is?

Sure those are miracles too

But he prayed for deliverance how did he do that dead?

Others can pray themselves out of desth?

He mentioned sea weed around his head how did he know that?

Dead know nothing or?

He also said fainting...jonah didnt know the word for death?

No mentální of being decayed...

Tortuured? How about being given some time to reconsider and repent...

Lots of people drown and and way back up on shore...many are eaten by fish no big deal...some wash back to shore after being partially eaten...but living in one is a good testimony...lol

There are recorded instances of fishermen in the same scenario of being in a fish and out again...but not for long...certainly not 3 days 3 nights long...that's a miracle

Dead men don't pray, this is not that difficult.

I have hope for you ... but it's waning.

Right. They don't. But you're the one arguing he was dead...not me.

I have him sitting in there in that belly of a stinky fish realizing his error and need to repent....and to get the job done he was called to do...and now with a very powerful testimony...

You have him merely resurrected at some point in there and making some desperately rushed decision...and a hasty prayer

Where he mentions fainting not dying...

Being resurrected would be more exciting but well...he wasn't...he just fainted

Sure...notice how He didn't say "For as Jonah was DEAD three days and three nights..." He could have but He didn't...

and He wasn't actually like Jonah was anyway being above ground with a crown of thorns not seaweed around His head...oh and He was dead Jonah wasn't...

As for the time frame being as Jonah was confined...the count starts when Judas takes the money...His fate is sealed...He is confined handed over to the Gentiles...the trial by the high priest and elders...flogged finally crucified and on the third day raised...

The sabbath has never applied to us Gentiles that are unattached to Israel. It was given to Israel as were the other 9 commandments. Actually, though, since Israel hasn't been God's people since Acts 28:28, 1956 years ago, I can't see how the sabbath would apply to them either, at least at the present time.

Paul was sent to the Gentiles before Acts 28:28 KJV -

Here I fixed it for you to say what you want "Sabbath was made for man Israel..."

As you would rather make Him a liar...

It's amazing that only 9 of the 10 commandments are for you...

So the sabbath was set aside, sanctified, made holy and a memorial to creation for Yah?

As if He needed a reminder...or rest...

But if you want to be where and when He is...you do as He does, His way...His universe, His house rules...you were made in His image to do as He does...

Don't make make Him a liar when He says "all nations...forever"...or Isaiah when he says "from Sabbath to Sabbath all will worship"...

If you notice though, all the saved Gentiles during Acts were grafted in to Israel. If you read Acts 28 carefully, it's easy to see that this is when Israel was cast aside. Since then, the Gentiles are not tied to Israel's apron strings. During Acts, Paul was the apostle to the Gentiles but, since the only important thing during the entirety of Acts was to convince Israel to accept Christ as their promised Messiah, Paul spent the vast majority of his efforts preaching to Israel.

Finally, 25 posts.

oh and He was dead Jonah wasn't...

And Jesus' body was not subject to stomach acids or digestive bacteria that break down flesh very quickly.

The stomach of fish is less well delineated than it is in the higher vertebrates, and in some cases it is considered to be absent. Where a true stomach is found to exist it is a muscular bag, or tube with a highly acidic internal environment. Unlike the Oesophagus, and the Intestines mentioned below the stomach is surrounded by a triple layer of non-striated muscle. The outer layer being longitudinal and the inner layer being circular with the middle layer running at an oblique angle to the two of these. Inside these muscular layer is a layer of columnar epithelium. The acidity of the stomach changes depending on whether it is full or not. Secretion of Hydrochloric acid is stimulated by the stretching or expansion of the stomach walls caused by the presence of food, so the the stomach is more acid when it is full that when it is empty. In most fish the pH of the stomach varies between 2 and 4. The main enzymes active in the stomach are Pepsins. The stomach may have the form of a swollen tube, it may be U-shaped with the open part of the U facing the mouth or it may be a blind sac with the entrance and exit valves quite adjacent to each other. The valve between the stomach and the intestines is called the pyloric valve.
