WHY DONALD TRUMP WAS ELECTED

Barb, you must remember, there's a lot of obstructionist behavior going on around the President. He's thwarted from every angle.

His party controls the WH, both houses of Congress, and he still can't get it his way. This is why a weak president is such a problem. He needs to build trust with his own party. And he needs to come to some kind accommodation to the American people, most of whom do not support his plans.

As wrong-headed as Trump can be, it's even worse that he's unable to effectively govern.

A President is limited in their ability to get things done, their way.

Obama got a great deal more done and he's only a middling president, by comparison to most of them.

We must remember, Trump has two terms to get his promises to come to fruition. Two terms.

It has come to be that a second term is almost a given for modern presidents. But unless Trump can win back some of his former supporters, it doesn't look very good for him right now.

At this point, his best chance is if the democrats nominate Hillary Clinton again.

Barbarian observes:
A president who failed to fulfill his promises

You got it mixed up. Obama promised to reform healthcare. Trump promised to repeal it.

Barbarian continues:
Who damaged American interests in the world.

Trump. He's withdrawn from east Asia, letting China move into the power vacuum. He's alienated our allies, and kowtowed to our enemies.

Obama smashed ISIS, took out Osama bin Laden, organized an alliance that forced Iran to give up nuclear weapons research, and unified NATO.

And Trump's worse than Clinton.

Hillary, albeit, marginally. He's not fit to shine Bill's shoes. (we can't compare personal issues, remember)
Clinton was highly effective internationally. For example, Clinton forced the Serbs to the negotiating table, which led to the freedom of several states under attack by Serbia. This at a time when no other country was able to do anything.

His intervention into Northern Ireland led to a settlement that ended the fighting.

So much better. Except for the forbidden topic. Clinton was a sleaze in one respect, which we can't talk about.

Barbarian notes we are not allowed to compare the moral failings of this president with past presidents.

Sure we can. Bill Clinton is not the current president.

True. But we can't talk about those things for the current president. So no comparison. Your lack of comprehension is troubling.

Have you been checked lately for senile dementia?

Here's a way you can avoid it. Find something you don't know how to do, which is difficult for you. And learn it.

In my case, it was woodworking and Chinese language. Seems to be working. My last IQ test shows me to still be on the far right (ironic um?) of the curve when it comes to cognitive ability.

Remember, the one you got an odd number score on it, when there is no possible way to get anything but a score divisible by 10? That one.:plain:

Not quite.
You (and three other Trump bashers) can't keep using TOL to bash the current President.
That is much different than the rest of us speaking about the shortcomings of Bill Clinton and his wife.

“Clinton “in fact” raped Juanita”
Bill Clinton’s rape of campaign supporter Juanita Broaddrick, “was an event that in fact took place” according to a Wall Street Journal piece, Feb. 19, 1999.

DID HILLARY CLINTON HELP BILL CLINTON INTIMIDATE AND DISCREDIT HIS RAPE AND SEXUAL MISCONDUCT ACCUSERS?
"Mr. Trump may have said some bad words, but Bill Clinton raped me, and Hillary Clinton threatened me," Broaddrick added. "I don't think there's any comparison."

I suppose you can continue to toss out as much of that as you like, but as you know, absenting any confirming evidence, it's no different than you being suckered by those faked photographs.:carryon:

You just want to prove that you are "easily led into making foolish assertions" that you "then will defend to the end."

Yep, and it's amazing he's gotten anything accomplished.

He is a lot richer now than he was when he was elected. And he got a huge tax cut. So he's done something for himself.

He did bomb Syria when Assad used chemical weapons, but then he backed off and let it go.

He's been attacked from every side.

Not surprising. He's not been very constant on anything he's done. Policies that keep changing are pretty much guaranteed to make people angry. The story is that whoever talks to him last, wins. It's not quite that bad, but close.

It's disgusting.

It's troubling. What if he actually has to make a decision that's critical?

I see you're still exaggerating and generalizing. My only wish regarding you is, that you were just half as intelligent as myself, then there'd be a level playing field for you to spew your hatred for Trump.

Tread lightly on the 'Trump bashing,' lest you go to far.

Hmmm... I thought he ruled it out. (Barbarian checks)

Former Vice President Joe Biden would lead President Donald Trump in a 2020 general election, according to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll.

Only 35 percent of voters would choose to reelect Trump in 2020, the poll shows — substantially fewer than the 46 percent who would vote instead for Biden, who said Monday that he is “not closing the door” on a third attempt at the presidency in 2020. One in 5 voters are undecided.

Biden’s 11-point margin is actually smaller than the poll’s previous question, in which voters are asked whether they will vote to reelect Trump, or for a generic Democrat. The generic Democrat leads Trump, 48 percent to 34 percent, the poll shows.

“Former Vice President Joe Biden has the upper hand in a hypothetical matchup against President Donald Trump, but he underperforms compared with a generic Democrat,” said Kyle Dropp, Morning Consult’s co-founder and chief research officer. “Notably, 86% of Democrats say they would vote for a generic Democrat over Trump, but only 78% of Democrats say they prefer Biden over Trump.”

Independent voters tilt away from the incumbent: 41 percent would vote for Biden, and 26 percent for Trump.

Well, maybe so, but I think there will be stronger candidates than Biden. Still, unless Trump gets his act together and learns to govern effectively, Biden would beat him fairly easily. It's kind of a surprise that Biden has a 15% lead over Trump among independents.

Biden is my choice .... though my vote will be cast for anyone whose name is not Trump. Best case scenario, he won't last a full term and we will be stuck with Pence.

The far-left zealots on TOL would prefer a far-left socialist type of President who doesn't favor the 1st and 2nd Amendments. Being, 'rabid sore losers' they just cannot fathom the fact that Trump won the election fair and square and they ought to be showing respect for the leader of our country, however, that's not how those 'types' roll.

What KIND of Independants? Oh, you're probably speaking about those Independants who HATE the 1st and 2nd Amendments. Those that are aligned with guys like you. I see where you're coming from.

The problem with Uncle Joe Biden is, he has no self-control over his habit of getting touchy-feely with females of all ages. If you happen to not believe what I'm saying, take a look at Uncle Joe in action on YouTube. He seems to have a strange obsession with sniffing little girls hair, as well. You can see him doing that on YouTube. He's overtly creepy in every possible way.
