What's the problem with AI?

Although I do have a problem with the name itself, because there is nothing intelligent about a computer, I do not have a problem with AI. Have we not been living with it in one form or another since at least the 1990's? Someone here is certainly old enough to remember Clippy, the little helper that Microsoft gave us to give tips and tricks when using their software. Do you remember when search engines came out? I would put in a query and it would respond with websites that it thinks fit my query. Spell checker? AI. Grammarly? AI.

A lot of my co-workers and acquaintances are worried that AI will replace jobs. No, people will just have to change how they work and what they work on. Did the invention of movable type replace the copyist or stenographer jobs? No! They just got more specialized.

They have apparently found AI playing games figuring out how to cheat...oops, I mean, maximize their wins without being taught how to do that.

They want it to think for you, so you are easier to manipulate.
