Protectionism has always been a disaster. It never ends well. The Great Depression was largely fueled by protectionism.

Donny John's understanding of history is a bit lacking.
He made ignorant promises during the campaign in order to fuel up his base.

But wait, I think he tweeted this morning that trade wars are good. Yeah, that's it, he must have some secret Wharton School of Business economic information that the rest of us are missing.

TRUMP BUMP: The President’s Approval POPS TO 50% as Economy Soars

President Trump’s approval rating continues to rise following his well-received State of the Union address and the wildly popular GOP tax cuts; with new polls showing the Commander-in-Chief’s job performance rating rising to 50%.

The new data from Rasmussen Reports shows that 50% of likely American voters approve of the President’s performance; the highest levels seen since June of last year.

In contrast, former President Barack Obama enjoyed a 45% approval rating at the same time in his presidency.

The poll also shows 34% of Americans “strongly approve” of the President’s performance with 49% disapproving.

The strong results come after months of GOP successes and Democratic failures; with the Republican party passing significant tax cuts and liberal legislators taking the heat for a disastrous government shutdown over DACA.

The data also shows the President’s approval is largely tied to the US economic recovery; with Americans feeling the benefits of higher wages and yearly bonuses after Trump signed the sweeping tax overhaul into law.
The only low life scum in the media that I use to form my opinion of Mr. Trump and Mr. Trumps own tweats.

Combine simplistic political promises with complex international economics and all you get are unintended consequences.

President Donald Trump imposed tariffs Tuesday on foreign-made washing machines and solar panels, raising prices on those goods by 30 percent, helping two foreign-owned companies and taking away jobs from thousands of Americans.
The president fired the first salvo in his long-promised global trade war, but as in any battle, the costs will likely outweigh the benefits.

Trump's order imposed a 20 percent tariff on the first 1.2 million residential washing machines imported annually, and a 50 percent tariff on any imported after that. More distressing, he levied a 50 percent tariff on washer parts.

Whirlpool, which filed the complaint with the International Trade Commission, said it would hire 200 workers to boost domestic manufacturing. The move, though, will likely cost more American jobs.

Before the tariffs, Samsung Electronics Co. had hired more than 600 workers at a South Carolina washer factory and planned to hire more. LG Electronics is building a washer factory in Tennessee and planned to hire hundreds more.

Both of those companies must now pay a 50 percent tariff on parts for their factories, and of course pass those higher costs on to consumers. Higher costs will mean lower sales and therefore fewer employees, which is why South Carolina's Gov. Henry McMaster and other Republican leaders vehemently opposed the tariffs.

The tariffs will also allow domestic manufacturers to raise prices to match higher prices for imported washers, costing American consumers more in the months ahead than they would have paid last year.

ClearView Energy Partners, a clean tech consulting firm, said the tariffs could increase residential rooftop system costs by 4 percent and utility-scale systems by 10 percent. That price hike will likely delay or cancel 10 percent to 15 percent of new U.S. solar installations over the next five years, Wood Mackenzie researched M.J. Shiao told the Reuters News Agency.

That slowdown in solar energy development will cost 23,000 American jobs, according to the Solar Energy Industries Association. Suniva and SolarWorld employ only a few hundred people each.

25th Amendment

Section 1. In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President.

Section 2. Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.

Section 3. Whenever the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, and until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary, such powers and duties shall be discharged by the Vice President as Acting President.

Section 4. Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

Trump Bump

Given the chaos in the White House and the number of self-inflicted wounds that Donald J has created, we should be all familiarizing ourselves with the 25th Amendment!

Would anyone be surprised if there weren't those within the Trump Administration and Congress already secretly discussing as to whether we've reached a critical point where its time to "pull the plug" on this President, and impose the 25th Amendment - for the good of the nation?

The only saving grace for this President has been the economy - if his actions this week trigger an international "trade war" with his less-educated "deplorables"finding themselves unemployed, Donald J will be forced to vacate the Oval Office seeking political asylum in the Russian Embassy, if they'll take him!

President Trump’s decision Thursday to impose crippling tariffs on the imports of steel and aluminum took many by surprise — particularly investors, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed the day’s trading down more than 400 points, or 1.7 percent, at 24,608.

But one billionaire investor and former Trump adviser, Carl Icahn, was seemingly unvexed, having dumped a million shares tied to the steel industry a week before the president announced 25 percent tariffs for foreign-made steel.

A Feb. 22 SEC filing shows Icahn sold off his $31.3 million stake in the Manitowoc Company, which is a leading global manufacturer of cranes for heavy construction based in Manitowoc, Wis., according to the company’s website. Since Trump’s announcement Thursday, Manitowoc’s stock has plummeted to about $26. Icahn — who has had majority interest in several companies including Motorola, Xerox, Family Dollar and Pep Boys — had sold his shares for about $32 to $34 each, according to the SEC disclosure.

Probably just a coincidence.

Trump's latest average of polls from RCP is 40.5 approval, 55.7 disapproval, a considerable fall in approval from last week.

RCP average of polls has Trump down to 40.2, on most recent polls showing continuing drop in approval. Interestingly, the drop was caused by a Rassmussen poll, showing a 4 point drop from their previous poll.

Two months later, its about the same, even after Stormy Danial, Lying Comey, and the rest. Thank God Americans see through the Fake News:

Did you misspell "Aryan" this time, or are you trying something new?

(Barbarian shows the data on Trump's disapproval rate)

still spreading the hate. How sad.

I don't think all those Americans hate him. They just think he's in over his head, and can't do anything right. You still don't have a clue what real Americans think.

Why not face the reality and try to make an accommodation to it?

I only wish you could go back to being what you'll NEVER be. Try and figure that out, while I give you another Neg-rep.

Ahhhh! Noooooo! Negative rep! Not that! Have you not notice that I collect negative rep? It's how I know I'm getting through to guys like you.

Meantime, this morning, Trump's poll average is still about a point down from last week.
