If I had to pick one, it would be my 1986 Volkswager Jetta diesel, 4 cyl. It got 50 MPG. It could cruise about 90 all day and never burp. When I bought it, it had a 3-year unlimited mileage warranty.

I never had one problem with it. And when I put it out to pasture, it had 630,000 miles on it. The gage peged out at 100,000 so I had to keep track after that with the odometer.

Eventually, it lost compression and would not start with the key starter. But if you towed it with a truck and clutch started it, you could drive to California and back as long as you did not shut if off.

I sold it to a mechanic in Dallas. I guess he did some work on it, because my wife saw it being driven by someone in Dallas a year later. It may be still out there.

It's all white. If anyone sees it, let me know. I want it back.

God bless, Tom from Mabank, TX

My favorite car (owned in high school) is also one of my biggest regrets (for having sold it).

A red 1968 Shelby GT500KR.

Blue 2001 Pontiac Aztek GT Possibly the most versatile (and ugly) vehicle on the planet. Sold it to an African lady who has had problems ever since:bang: Killer cold in Canada. http://image.trucktrend.com/f/84899...Rear_Drivers_Side_View_Trunk_Tent_Pitched.jpg

First car was sportier looking than this, 1978 Civic Hatch. Sold it to a young married couple after a few years with little depreciation.

The first truck I had was a S-10 SS. It was by far the best vehicle I ever had. It had a very hot engine and was very fast, good looking too. Never gave me any trouble other than the tickets it got me, and got me into some good times too.

Did that have a big block swap too? Because I know you aren't saying the stock 4.3 and its 16 second quarter is fast.

I'm still on my first car. It's a 95 Honda Civic 5 speed. It's terrible in the snow with racing tires and lowered ride height. I can manage on ice but it can hardly clear a half a foot of snow...

But the aftermarket make it worth it. :D

1988 Olds Cutlass Supreme (I think the last year before they chopped it down to that big tennis shoe look)
Got it brand new at a big inventory close-out sale, loaded; depending on the light it looked either black, deep blue, or deep forest green. I kept it in tip-top shape, low-mileage (I had a second reliable ''clunker'' I often drove)

Came back to my apartment in 1992 on the Sunday before Thanksgiving when all the rain/tornadoes hit Indy, went inside my apartment for only 2-3 minutes and remembered I'd left a can of tomato sauce in a bag in the back seat. Went outside and....GONE! Some group of thieving network jerks followed me home and snatched it as soon as I was inside. Five minutes later the sky opened up in a monsoon-like torrent and the tornado sirens went off.
The police found it 5 days later stripped to the bone...

The one I wish I could have said it was my favorite car to own . . .

The 1940 Ford Coupe, with a flat head V-8. My all time favorite.

I had a 1974 Datsun-240Z. It has the 2.4L straight 6 with twin carbs. A budy across the street from where I worked had a 76-280Z that he had taken the engine out of an replaced with a 350 small block. I bought the engine, transmission and fuel injection harness from him and wanted to put it into mu 240Z. Made perfect sens at the time. I called up a Datsun specialist to see what it would take to put the 280 engine into the 240 body. Mechanical, all the connection points were identical so it dropped right in and bolted up. Electrically, they said it couldn't be done. The told me I had to take of the fuel injection manifold and replace it with the carburated manifold from the 240. The challenge was laid and I accepted it. I got wiring diagrams for both cars and figured out what I needed to do. In one afternoon I was able to get the wiring done. There was one connection that I could not nail down at the dropping resistor on the coil but the moment of truth had arrived. I put in the key turned it and it started right up. As soon as I let go of the key it died. I swapped the two wires I wasn't sure about a tried again. It ran perfectly from that day on. I even had Macco do one of their $100.00 paint jobs on it so it didn't look to bad.

I enjoyed that car because of the sense of accomplishment it represented. An expert in these cars told me it couldn't be done but I did it. Great fun. Sadly, I don't have it anymore. I miss it from time to time. Fun car.

I (we) have owned a lot of cars. And pick a favorite is tough.

I have had several 1957 Ford two-door sedans, one I liked was the one I put a 428CJ in, which size wise in dimensions it was very close to the Ford 352/390 FE. It fit fairly well, I had to use a six cylinder radiator to ensure a good fan clearance; what a sleeper.
BTW, I used 1957 Ford's when I raced at Colorado National Speedway.

Would this be like the 428 Ford used in the 'Cobra Jet that Ford used in the 69 mustang?

Then there was the 1964 Pontiac LeMans coupe, that I put in a 421 Pontiac V-8 with dual fours. Two words - Road rocket.

This was a super fast engine first in the 1962 Pontiac Catalina and not many made, if I remember.

Then there was the 1969 Ford Torino Talladega that we we bought new, another big block 428CJ with a C-6 transmission. It was sure fast going to the grocery store.
same here

Can't forget the 1971 Plymouth Fury I, which had 440 wedge head V-8. We had it for about a year. Three words - Brute force powerful.
I never head of the 440 Wedge, just the popular 413 and the less popular 426 Max Wedge. I liked these engines, they are little known today, but they were very fast. I had a college boyfriend who had the Mopar 413 Wedge Sport Fury @ 425 HP

How about the 1984 Thunderbird Coupe that we had, my son help put a 351W in it. Fun, Fun, Fun!

The favorite actually goes to the 1949 Plymouth Special Deluxe 4-door sedan. We ran the wheels off it so to speak, well at least it it wouldn't run any more. We found another one and did the same thing with that one. One word - Dependable.

The old 49's gave way in 1964 to a two year old 1962 Ford Galaxie 500, two tone, 4-door sedan, a really nice family car that we had for 5 years.

Of course there are others, but that is for another time.

Fastest thing I had was 426 Hemi street and race 3/4 cam Plymouth Barracuda; this was like the SS Cuda of 1968, accept it could be street legal, or with some mechanical changes, a race car.
Also, the street Hemi Dodge Charger

The same engine, mine came out of wrecked Mustang, this engine swap took place in 1974.

There was also the 1962 Pontiac Catalina 421SD V-8, Super Duty.

The 440 Wedge Head was a strong runner. I also like the 383.

For me I would have to say it is a toss up between the '69 Ford Talladega CJ428 and the '71 Plymouth Fury I with the 440 Wedge Head.
