TO ENTER THE KINGDOM

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

For the individual Jew, or Gentile, to be justified unto eternal life, one had to believe on the Lord Jesus. One had to believe that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of God. This was the gospel during the earthly ministry of Christ. This is the gospel of the Kingdom proclaiming the glad tidings of the prophetic earthly Kingdom of Heaven, the Kingdom of God.

Paul delivered our gospel for today.

1 Corinthians 15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Paul preaches the cross. Paul preaches this gospel for both Jew and Gentile. Paul preaches the blood of Christ for the forgivness of sin. Paul preaches the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. Paul preaches that Jesus was raised for our justification unto eternal life. This is the gospel we are to simply believe.

Romans 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

There are diffferent gospel messages. God requires faith in the given message at the time. All gospels have different messages but all are established on the basis of the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is always by Grace, by faith, by the Lord Jesus Christ.

Matthew 3:1 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,

3:2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

John was announcing the coming prophetic earthly Kingdom. Christ would rule and reign as King on earth for a thousand years. The twelve Apostles would rule with him. The believing remnant of Israel, the little flock, would enter into the Kingdom on earth. The remnant would be kings and priests.

Jesus would likewise preach the gospel of His promised Kingdom on earth.

Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Mark 1:14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

It can be seen above, from Matthew 4:17 and Mark 1:15, that the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God are the same. However, the Kingdom of God is both earthly and heavenly. In today's dispensation of Grace, the Body of Christ who have believed Paul's gospel will sit in Christ in heavenly places, as seen in the verse below.

Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Christ taught in the beatitudes the attributes of those who would enter the coming Kingdom. An example is in the verse below.

Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Christ taught that in the coming Kingdom, righteousness was required.

Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Jesus taught that the believing remnant would be known by their fruits. During the tribulation there will be false believers who will be known by their fruit as well.

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Not all Israel will enter into the kingdom. Unprofitable believers, who do not bear fruit, will be assigned a place with the hypocrites. This outer darkness below is not referring to the lake of fire, but rather, a place of sense of loss outside the Kingdom inheritance.

Matthew 8:12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Below, John was speaking to the unbelieving Pharisees and Sadducees, and warning them of eternal punishment.

Matthew 3:8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

3:10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Nonbelievers will be cast into eternal fire, as the verses below state.

Matthew 13:49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,

13:50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Mark 1:4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.

John's baptism had several aspects; it was to proclaim the coming Kingdom; to identify Jesus as Israel's promised Messiah; for the remission of the sins of the nation of Israel; to cleanse them from corporate sin; and for Israel to be cleansed to become a nation of priests.

Mark 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

In the verses above, the Holy Ghost was promised to believing Israel.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Above Peter was preaching the baptism of John's baptism, but he now added being baptized in the name of Jesus. He now expanded John's baptism to include what John said in Mark 1:8, that the Holy Ghost would be given.

This gospel of the Kingdom will also be preached, along with it's component of baptism, in the tribulation.

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

In the verse above, this commandment will be fulfilled in the future.

16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

In the verse above, the salvation spoken of is not to eternal life; this salvation is a physical deliverance from opression and persecution, and to enter into the promised Kingdom.

Jesus taught the confession of His name. If Jesus's name was confessed among the Jews it could result in persecution. This will be true in the tribulation as well.

Matthew 10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

10:33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

John 9:22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.

Jesus taught the selling of all possessions and giving to the poor. In the tribulation the persecuted Jews will not be able to buy or sell unless they receive the mark of the beast. This common distribution would relieve the persecuted saints in the tribulation as well.

Matthew 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

Luke 18:22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

Jesus taught of the end of the world and the establishment of His Kingdom on earth.

Matthew 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

The Jewish believer had to endure to the end and be saved by the coming of the Lord Jesus to provide deliverance from persecution and the antichrist. Saved to enter into the Kingdom; it was a physical deliverance.

24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Once again the gospel of the Kingdom will be preached, as seen above.

28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Now, in the above verse, it can be seen that baptism is once again a component in the tribulation. Now, it is in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

In the verse above, Jesus taught to observe His commandments.

Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

After those days, the last days, the LORD will put His law in the remnant of believers heart. The LORD will by His Spirit enable Israel to keep His law and statutes. Israel, what it could not do, and never could do of itself, will keep the law and be a light to the Gentiles. They will be His people, and He will be their God.

Have you considered that Paul preached the same gospel and converted Christians the exact same way as Peter?

Here are their sermons from Acts 2 & 13.
Addressing Israel
Peter: 22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words;
Paul: 16 Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel,

Christ descended from David
Peter: 30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
Paul: 23 Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Savior, Jesus:

Christ died
Peter: 23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
Paul: 28 And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.

David saw decay
Peter: 29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
Paul: 36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

Christ did not see decay
Peter: 31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
Paul: 37 But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

Jesus resurrected
Peter: 32 This Jesus hath God raised up,
Paul: 30 But God raised him from the dead:

People witnessed the resurrection
Peter: 32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
Paul: 31 And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.

Forgiveness of sins through Jesus
Peter: 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Paul: 38 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

Jesus is Israel’s savior
Peter: 36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
Paul: 23 Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Savior, Jesus:

Paul baptized believers just as Peter did.
Acts 18:8 Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, together with his entire household. And many of the Corinthians hearing Paul believed and were baptized.

It's almost like they were playing for the same team, and working from the same 'play book.' :liberals:

There are similarities between Peter and Paul. There is overlap and progression in the gospels.

Paul believed in the law and prophets and taught that Jesus was Christ, the Son of God from them to the Jew first and also to the Gentiles see Acts 24:14.

Peter and Paul both preached the resurrection of Christ.

Peter preached the resurrection as the assurance that Christ would return and rule over His Kingdom on earth Acts 2:30. Christ came to confirm the promises to Israel Romans 15:8.

Paul preached the resurrection as our justification unto eternal life Romans 4:25.

Peter preached baptism in the name of Jesus for remission of sins Acts 2:38.

Paul preached forgiveness of sins thru the cross, and the blood of Christ Ephesians 1:7 1 Corinthians 1:17

Paul baptized to not give offence but was not sent to baptize but preach the gospel revealed to him by Christ 1 Corinthians 1:17

I suggest to you there is no overlap but the same gospel. Is Christ divided? You have not pointed out any differences in how Peter and Paul converted Christians.

Do you have a passage that backs up the statement that Paul baptized to not give offence? For example, we know why Paul circumcised Timothy so as not to hinder the gospel, Acts 16:3.

Well done, DE; however, you might want to break up your post, into more than one post, to avoid breaking TOL rules. I should know, having spent much hours "in the penalty box!"

Thanks

I'm not sure I understand your point here. I agree we are saved by faith. I'm just trying to understand how people say Peter and Paul preached different gospels. They both converted Christians exactly the same way. I see zero difference in scripture.

Paul was sent to both Jew and Gentile.
Baptisms were part of the law. Hebrews 9:10
Peter preached baptism for remission of sins in the name of Jesus. Acts 2:38
Jews to be saved to eternal life had to believe in the name of Jesus; They had to believe Jesus is the Christ, Son of God. John 20:31
They were then baptized following belief. Acts 8:12
Paul upheld the law; the law and the prophets were the foundation he used to prove Jesus is Christ, the Son of God. Acts 24:14 Acts 28:23
Paul would uphold a Jew, who believed, being baptized as prescribed in the law. Acts 21:24-26
Paul made himself a servant to all, for the gospel's sake, to save more. 1 Corinthians 9:21

So the gospel only goes to men of Israel? :french:

Think of it this way...any believer becomes a citizen of Israel...same law for native and foreigner...

That wall seperating jew from gentile has been pulled down...

Believers are branches grafted into the trunk to replace the branches that were rejected...

And believers baring the same fruits...not different from the trunk...which is even biologically impossible...

israel in the OT was to bring all to worship Him...not israel...duh

By faith...was in the OT...THROUGHOUT...circumcision never saved...faith was first...and only way to be saved...works were done BECAUSE they were saved and because they believed themselves seed of Abraham...

They left eygpt first and then were given the Law...

Some were not of the seed of Abraham...but went with them and were saved...by faith...protected by Law as believers

Gentiles are and have never been under the old law. I believe Jesus nailed the law to the cross but many do not. It is my understanding that the cross brought in the new law/covenant by His blood.

I also agree that Jesus kingdom will not separate what the church has brought together.
