These signs will follow them who believe

Contra wise, these signs will NOT follow THEM who do not believe.

Notice the THEM.

The Lord said these things. It is wrong to countermand His words, in fact it is a criminal act of treason against Heaven.

Throughout the last 2000 years God has done miraculous things among His true followers. There are countless thousands of testimonies out there of this fact as well as some of our own.

Such stupid arguments like asking if we have drank poison deliberately, are of the same mind as those who handle snakes deliberately, which is a breaking of the commandment not to temp God.

Only those with NO testimony of the miraculous in their life would argue against the Lords words.

Mar 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
Mar 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
Mar 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Mar 16:19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.
Mar 16:20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

1.Deception. You've been shown, for years, the purpose of the sign gifts of the Holy Ghost, divers miracles, wonders,.... that is, they confirmed that the one with the message was speaking God's message, confirmed that their word, was the LORD God's word, that the messenger was approved by the LORD God, to speak His word...

"confirming the word...............approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs,"

...whether it be a believer, or, in most cases, an apostle, since the "canon" of the scripture, as evidence, had not been completed.

Mark 16 KJV
20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

John 20 KJV
30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:

31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Acts 2 KJV
22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

Acts 2 KJV
43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

Acts 5 KJV
12 And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.

Acts 14 KJV
3 Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

Romans 15 KJV
19 Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

2 Corinthians 12 KJV
12 Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.

Hebrews 2 KJV

3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

2."The Lord said these things. It is wrong to countermand His words, in fact it is a criminal act of treason against Heaven."-Lazy

Deception. Yes, the Lord Jesus Christ, said many things, while on earth. By that "argument," "The Lord said these things...His words.."-Sell all you have, go to the temple, go to Jerusalem, 3 times/year, to keep the appointed feasts, offer the gift that Moses commanded.......................=keep the law.

Of course, since you "argue" that all of the book is about you...

"Contra wise, these signs will NOT follow THEM who do not believe.

Notice the THEM."-Lazy

...as you are "THEM," and that all of the book's orders are specifically about you, for your obedience, you put people under the law, and apply all of the book's passages re. signs, raising the dead....................................to yourself, and, in deception, explain away, craftily dismissing, your inability to perform these miracles and wonders and signs and mighty deeds, today, in this dispensation of the grace of God, with..

"Such stupid arguments like asking if we have drank poison deliberately, are of the same mind as those who handle snakes deliberately, which is a breaking of the commandment not to temp God."-Lazy

How convenient. That is what all these con artist, "Big Top" "Entertainment Tonight" comedy acts, like TBN("The Devil's Broadcasting Network"), CBN, Daystar, ...and their circus promoters/charlatans, use to justify not being able to make the blind see, the lame walk(despite spin to the contrary), limbs grow, raise the dead................

Back to Pentecost!!!!!!!!!!!!!...they cry...Pahraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaze Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaawd!! Pahraaaaaaaaaaze Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesus!!!!!!! And, of course, the "closer," deceptively, as is their MO, applying 1 Chronicles 16:22 KJV, and Psalms 105:15 KJV, to themselves:

Don't criticize God's anointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Charlatans....every last one of them.

By that deceptive "argument," you can "justify" anything, and stuff your this is "tempting God" sophistry.

An unbeliever to Lazy, after Lazy(allegedly) preaches to him/her, today:How do I know that you are approved of God, that your message is from God, that you are an apostle?

Lazy:Don't tempt God!!!!!!!!!!!

Deceit. Sophistry. That is not the context of the command not to "temp God."

By this deceit, Lazy's "Contra wise, these signs will NOT follow THEM who do not believe" means NADA, as there would be no way to distinguish a believer, from a non believer, as,of course, we would not want to "temp God."

Well done!

The figure of speech ellipsis (intentional omission of a word or words, the intent is that we look closer at that passage to see God's intent) is an important factor in rightly dividing Mark 16:18, as a figure of speech, the passage is no longer a literal passage, but figurative.

Mark 16:18 KJV

They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

We see the word "if" before the phrase "they drink any deadly thing"

that if is omitted by the figure of speech ellipsis from in front of the phrase, " they shall take up serpents" to emphasize the high degree of protection that is made available, if they were to take up a serpent accidentally or unawares as did Paul on the island of Melitta Acts 28:1-6

Clearly, the apostle Paul was one of the believers that signs followed.

Even though he took up a serpent, clearly unawares, and was bitten by it, God protected him.

That is God's protection because of God's love. Paul understood the meaning of being a more than conqueror. Romans 8:37-39 KJV

Paul experienced God's loving protection

Likewise, he spoke in tongues, healed others, cast out devil spirits...

Amen, but why say Mark 16:18 is a figure of speech?

Because being bitten be poisonous snakes, drinking bad water with no harm and instantly healing sick strangers can't be faked like tongues and demon casting. It's a weaselly excuse for Pentecostals who don't REALLY believe ALL of what Christ promised. They make Him a liar.

Amen, but why say Mark 16:18 is a figure of speech?

The use of the figure of speech ellipsis in Mark 16:18 needs to be recognized if we are to rightly divide that passage

The ellipsis is the intentional omission of the word "if" in the first phrase.

The word "if" could have been included in "if they shall take up serpents"

However, for those who wish to argue with sound doctrine, neither including nor excluding the word "if" would have made any difference.

The gainsayers would have simply assumed that "if they (intentionally) took up serpents"

Where as it is clear that we are not to tempt God by putting ourselves in unwarranted dangerous situations. There is no reason to take risks when we are not our own, we were purchased, redeemed by God in Christ

We have no right to damage God's purchased possessions, ourselves

OK, but I didn't pick that up the first time around. I agree.
