Undying Love...................

LESSONS FROM THE CROSS

188:5.1 The cross of Jesus portrays the full measure of the supreme devotion of the true shepherd for even the unworthy members of his flock. It forever places all relations between God and man upon the family basis. God is the Father; man is his son. Love, the love of a father for his son, becomes the central truth in the universe relations of Creator and creature—not the justice of a king which seeks satisfaction in the sufferings and punishment of the evil-doing subject.

188:5.2 The cross forever shows that the attitude of Jesus toward sinners was neither condemnation nor condonation, but rather eternal and loving salvation. Jesus is truly a savior in the sense that his life and death do win men over to goodness and righteous survival. Jesus loves men so much that his love awakens the response of love in the human heart. Love is truly contagious and eternally creative. Jesus' death on the cross exemplifies a love which is sufficiently strong and divine to forgive sin and swallow up all evil-doing. Jesus disclosed to this world a higher quality of righteousness than justice—mere technical right and wrong. Divine love does not merely forgive wrongs; it absorbs and actually destroys them. The forgiveness of love utterly transcends the forgiveness of mercy. Mercy sets the guilt of evil-doing to one side; but love destroys forever the sin and all weakness resulting therefrom. Jesus brought a new method of living to Urantia. He taught us not to resist evil but to find through him a goodness which effectually destroys evil. The forgiveness of Jesus is not condonation; it is salvation from condemnation. Salvation does not slight wrongs; it makes them right. True love does not compromise nor condone hate; it destroys it. The love of Jesus is never satisfied with mere forgiveness. The Master's love implies rehabilitation, eternal survival. It is altogether proper to speak of salvation as redemption if you mean this eternal rehabilitation.

The UB's teaching of the cross shows the victorious power of love over sin and death, without the need for a vicarious blood-atonement, whereby a soul is restored by the love of God to right thought and action, a rebirth of the spirit.

In this truly 'God' says "I will remember your sins no more",...so that even the memory of sin or wrongdoing is 'destroyed' or no longer 'extant'. So, divine love is wholly pure and perfect and in that love, no sin or death can exist. The cross shows us that Jesus love for humanity and his children carried itself through the trials of all space and time, revealing the eternal truth and victory of the divine will. Ultiimately after the trials of mortality, if the soul chooses whole-heartedly the divine will, repents and turns towards 'God', yielding to the Spirit, repenting, continuing the path of spiritual evolution and soul-perfection, it shall 'put on immortality'. Since love if held onto affords one victory over sin, love also grants immortality as the soul weds itself thereto.

The resurrection of Jesus

THE MORONTIA TRANSIT

189:1.1 At two forty-five Sunday morning, the Paradise incarnation commission, consisting of seven unidentified Paradise personalities, arrived on the scene and immediately deployed themselves about the tomb. At ten minutes before three, intense vibrations of commingled material and morontia activities began to issue from Joseph’s new tomb, and at two minutes past three o’clock, this Sunday morning, April 9, A.D. 30, the resurrected morontia form and personality of Jesus of Nazareth came forth from the tomb.

189:1.2 After the resurrected Jesus emerged from his burial tomb, the body of flesh in which he had lived and wrought on earth for almost thirty-six years was still lying there in the sepulchre niche, undisturbed and wrapped in the linen sheet, just as it had been laid to rest by Joseph and his associates on Friday afternoon. Neither was the stone before the entrance of the tomb in any way disturbed; the seal of Pilate was still unbroken; the soldiers were still on guard. The temple guards had been on continuous duty; the Roman guard had been changed at midnight. None of these watchers suspected that the object of their vigil had risen to a new and higher form of existence, and that the body which they were guarding was now a discarded outer covering which had no further connection with the delivered and resurrected morontia personality of Jesus.

189:1.3 Mankind is slow to perceive that, in all that is personal, matter is the skeleton of morontia, and that both are the reflected shadow of enduring spirit reality. How long before you will regard time as the moving image of eternity and space as the fleeting shadow of Paradise realities?

189:1.4 As far as we can judge, no creature of this universe nor any personality from another universe had anything to do with this morontia resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth. On Friday he laid down his life as a mortal of the realm; on Sunday morning he took it up again as a morontia being of the system of Satania in Norlatiadek. There is much about the resurrection of Jesus which we do not understand. But we know that it occurred as we have stated and at about the time indicated. We can also record that all known phenomena associated with this mortal transit, or morontia resurrection, occurred right there in Joseph’s new tomb, where the mortal material remains of Jesus lay wrapped in burial cloths.

189:1.5 We know that no creature of the local universe participated in this morontia awakening. We perceived the seven personalities of Paradise surround the tomb, but we did not see them do anything in connection with the Master’s awakening. Just as soon as Jesus appeared beside Gabriel, just above the tomb, the seven personalities from Paradise signalized their intention of immediate departure for Uversa.

189:1.6 Let us forever clarify the concept of the resurrection of Jesus by making the following statements:

1. His material or physical body was not a part of the resurrected personality. When Jesus came forth from the tomb, his body of flesh remained undisturbed in the sepulchre. He emerged from the burial tomb without moving the stones before the entrance and without disturbing the seals of Pilate.

2. He did not emerge from the tomb as a spirit nor as Michael of Nebadon; he did not appear in the form of the Creator Sovereign, such as he had had before his incarnation in the likeness of mortal flesh on Urantia.

3. He did come forth from this tomb of Joseph in the very likeness of the morontia personalities of those who, as resurrected morontia ascendant beings, emerge from the resurrection halls of the first mansion world of this local system of Satania. And the presence of the Michael memorial in the center of the vast court of the resurrection halls of mansonia number one leads us to conjecture that the Master’s resurrection on Urantia was in some way fostered on this, the first of the system mansion worlds.

189:1.10 The first act of Jesus on arising from the tomb was to greet Gabriel and instruct him to continue in executive charge of universe affairs under Immanuel, and then he directed the chief of the Melchizedeks to convey his brotherly greetings to Immanuel. He thereupon asked the Most High of Edentia for the certification of the Ancients of Days as to his mortal transit; and turning to the assembled morontia groups of the seven mansion worlds, here gathered together to greet and welcome their Creator as a creature of their order, Jesus spoke the first words of the postmortal career. Said the morontia Jesus: “Having finished my life in the flesh, I would tarry here for a short time in transition form that I may more fully know the life of my ascendant creatures and further reveal the will of my Father in Paradise.”

189:1.11 After Jesus had spoken, he signaled to the Personalized Adjuster, and all universe intelligences who had been assembled on Urantia to witness the resurrection were immediately dispatched to their respective universe assignments.

189:1.12 Jesus now began the contacts of the morontia level, being introduced, as a creature, to the requirements of the life he had chosen to live for a short time on Urantia. This initiation into the morontia world required more than an hour of earth time and was twice interrupted by his desire to communicate with his former associates in the flesh as they came out from Jerusalem wonderingly to peer into the empty tomb to discover what they considered evidence of his resurrection.

189:1.13 Now is the mortal transit of Jesus—the morontia resurrection of the Son of Man—completed. The transitory experience of the Master as a personality midway between the material and the spiritual has begun. And he has done all this through power inherent within himself; no personality has rendered him any assistance. He now lives as Jesus of morontia, and as he begins this morontia life, the material body of his flesh lies there undisturbed in the tomb. The soldiers are still on guard, and the seal of the governor about the rocks has not yet been broken.

Yes, they’re both clinically insane by DSM5 standards (and, of course, the standards of the one true and living God who is not their Creator and Savior).

Figures of speech like spiritual allegory isn't to be taken literally, that mistake is highlighted in a belief that God who is the one and only spirit individualized in all life needed animals sacrificed instead of the conscience behavior being symbolized by each unclean animal, Psalms 40:6.

Selective spiritual interpretation to boost ones two power belief is mixing temporal effects of earthly wisdom that's corruptible, with infinite causation that's perfect, only grace will wink at such separatist egotistical podiums until you die as a man. Fear based love is mans hell wrapped in religious authoritarian garb to rationalize condemnation. Your mind is still unreconciled to still preach such separatist folly. Romans sevens shows the consciousness is the realm of a double minded man infected with religious parasitism dramatized in the biblical stories as two physical siblings, Galatians 4:24-25. I don't think you grasp the location of God's kingdom Luke 17:21, 1 Corinthians 3:16 or you wouldn't separate yourself unwittingly from that one awareness for another kingdom outside inhabited by flesh and blood mentality that inherent's nothing heavenly, Matthew 11:11, you made an infinite principle that is apparently still asleep in you into a flesh and blood idol made like unto a man that was a pattern to follow, emulate as a way shower.
Jew and Gentile are alive and well in your doctrine, but they don't exist in the mind of Christ, the principles exist without the garb that deceived by appearances Romans 2:28-29.

This is what Jesus actually said:

“Take this cup, all of you, and drink of it. This shall be the cup of my remembrance. This is the cup of the blessing of a new dispensation of grace and truth. This shall be to you the emblem of the bestowal and ministry of the divine Spirit of Truth. And I will not again drink this cup with you until I drink in new form with you in the Father's eternal kingdom.”

“Take this bread of remembrance and eat it. I have told you that I am the bread of life. And this bread of life is the united life of the Father and the Son in one gift. The word of the Father, as revealed in the Son, is indeed the bread of life.”

After the compromised gospel of the atonement replaced the original Gospel that the Jews killed Jesus for, everything changed.

John 8:43-44

Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires.

The original gospel is what angered the Jews. There was forgiveness in the original gospel already. The tragic rejection and death was never a condition for Gods forgiveness.

Killing Jesus was the will of the devil.

There’s got to be some allegory for all that so you can dismiss the actual truth with all your pseudo-mystical nonsense.

Sorry, but no one actually thinks they're drinking blood and eating flesh. We eat and drink symbols ONLY. The literal interpretation would make Christians into cannibals. No one thinks they need to do that. We consider the elements (wine and bread) as if they were His Body and His Blood only so that we take His Death seriously and connect that sacrifice with our own life mentally and spiritually. Partaking of the elements is what puts His Life into us. We do this not only to bring His Life into our flesh but to remember His great sacrifice.

All symbolic. You've been quoting that since way back in this thread, and been responded to, so its pretty 'circular' at this point. The fact remains they remain symbols only, mere tokens, taken by faith, allegory, analogy, etc. - there is no power in physical blood to ransom or redeem but in a theoritical sense, since it all comes down to faith in a particular doctrine regarding 'atonement', and plenty of different concepts or theories of 'atonement' abound.

The UB's treatment on the Eucharist remains logical and feasible, as We've covered in the past here.
See : Blood atonement researched again (see all links to pertinent posts related)

Any are free to read Part 4 of the UB to see what Jesus teaches there, which expands on the gospel accounts, and goes deeper into the ethics, morals and principles of the kingdom, religious principles for living, etc. which speak for themselves, universally accepted by most all christians and other religions. Such information can be spiritually discerned and intellectually considered as any other writings, since Jesus beckons all to continue researching (ask, seek and knock)...its a perpetual gesture of the soul, since we are ever learning, evolving, progressing along the spiritual path.

UB theology, ethics and eschatology is pro-life, positive, progressive and cosmic in its inspiration and ideals of living. Again,...the text speaks for itself for those interested, and like any other religious book, you cannot know the contents until your read it for yourself.

'versions' of Jesus.......

Sorry, but Jesus doesn't have ANYTHING at all to do with the UB.

Those open to investigate can see if you have any proof of that claim, since its only your 'opinion'. You've chosen to worship your own 'version' or 'concept' of Jesus packaged by a particular cult-ure and traditional canon.

I'd propose that 'Jesus' and his teachings are found and extended outside of what church councils deem as 'orthodox' since many other gospels were circulating in the first few centuries. I see no logic or evidence that Jesus is 'limited' or 'constrained' to what various authors put in those particular writings, per their own motives and agendas.

The Urantia Book, why do the Jews reject Jesus?

The Urantia Book, why do the Jews reject Jesus?

JEWS AND GENTILES

121:7.1 By the times of Jesus the Jews had arrived at a settled concept of their origin, history, and destiny. They had built up a rigid wall of separation between themselves and the gentile world; they looked upon all gentile ways with utter contempt. They worshiped the letter of the law and indulged a form of self-righteousness based upon the false pride of descent. They had formed preconceived notions regarding the promised Messiah, and most of these expectations envisaged a Messiah who would come as a part of their national and racial history. To the Hebrews of those days Jewish theology was irrevocably settled, forever fixed.

121:7.2 The teachings and practices of Jesus regarding tolerance and kindness ran counter to the long-standing attitude of the Jews toward other peoples whom they considered heathen. For generations the Jews had nourished an attitude toward the outside world which made it impossible for them to accept the Master's teachings about the spiritual brotherhood of man. They were unwilling to share Yahweh on equal terms with the gentiles and were likewise unwilling to accept as the Son of God one who taught such new and strange doctrines.

121:7.3 The scribes, the Pharisees, and the priesthood held the Jews in a terrible bondage of ritualism and legalism, a bondage far more real than that of the Roman political rule. The Jews of Jesus' time were not only held in subjugation to the law but were equally bound by the slavish demands of the traditions, which involved and invaded every domain of personal and social life. These minute regulations of conduct pursued and dominated every loyal Jew, and it is not strange that they promptly rejected one of their number who presumed to ignore their sacred traditions, and who dared to flout their long-honored regulations of social conduct. They could hardly regard with favor the teachings of one who did not hesitate to clash with dogmas which they regarded as having been ordained by Father Abraham himself. Moses had given them their law and they would not compromise. *

121:7.4 By the time of the first century after Christ the spoken interpretation of the law by the recognized teachers, the scribes, had become a higher authority than the written law itself. And all this made it easier for certain religious leaders of the Jews to array the people against the acceptance of a new gospel.

121:7.5 These circumstances rendered it impossible for the Jews to fulfill their divine destiny as messengers of the new gospel of religious freedom and spiritual liberty. They could not break the fetters of tradition. Jeremiah had told of the "law to be written in men's hearts," Ezekiel had spoken of a "new spirit to live in man's soul." and the Psalmist had prayed that God would "create a clean heart within and renew a right spirit." But when the Jewish religion of good works and slavery to law fell victim to the stagnation of traditionalistic inertia, the motion of religious evolution passed westward to the European peoples.

121:7.6 And so a different people were called upon to carry an advancing theology to the world, a system of teaching embodying the philosophy of the Greeks, the law of the Romans, the morality of the Hebrews, and the gospel of personality sanctity and spiritual liberty formulated by Paul and based on the teachings of Jesus.

121:7.7 Paul's cult of Christianity exhibited its morality as a Jewish birthmark. The Jews viewed history as the providence of God—Yahweh at work. The Greeks brought to the new teaching clearer concepts of the eternal life. Paul's doctrines were influenced in theology and philosophy not only by Jesus' teachings but also by Plato and Philo. In ethics he was inspired not only by Christ but also by the Stoics.

121:7.8 The gospel of Jesus, as it was embodied in Paul's cult of Antioch, Christianity, became blended with the following teachings:

1. The philosophic reasoning of the Greek proselytes to Judaism, including some of their concepts of the eternal life.
2. The appealing teachings of the prevailing mystery cults, especially the Mithraic doctrines of redemption, atonement, and salvation by the sacrifice made by some god.
3. The sturdy morality of the established Jewish religion.

121:7.12 The Mediterranean Roman Empire, the Parthian kingdom, and the adjacent peoples of Jesus' time all held crude and primitive ideas regarding the geography of the world, astronomy, health, and disease; and naturally they were amazed by the new and startling pronouncements of the carpenter of Nazareth. The ideas of spirit possession, good and bad, applied not merely to human beings, but every rock and tree was viewed by many as being spirit possessed. This was an enchanted age, and everybody believed in miracles as commonplace occurrences." UB 1955

Your 'proposal' is foolishness, since He promised that those who seek and search for Him with all of their hearts would find Him. He verified the veracity of The Holy Scriptures and said that the Book was done. Your idea of adding to it only adds to you the curses written in It. Those of us who know Him aren't easily lead astray, being shepherded by The Good Shepherd, Whose Voice we know and we won't follow 'another' god, like the one portrayed in your UB. Investigating in The Word of God is where The One True God is found. Your false god can only lead to hell. That's where you're headed, should you not repent and believe The Gospel. I'm sure that you already know this and believe that you'll have some kind of reward for leading others to hell along with yourself, but it just isn't the case. Your punishment will be greater for each and every soul you lead astray from Truth. Your UB has NO Truth in it.

Even when Jesus was on the earth there was no definitive proof that God exists. In fact, when scripture worshiping religious men encountered Jesus, they said he was in cahoots with the devil. many of these people on TOL would have rejected Jesus on the grounds that he was Liberal and taught a new and strange doctrine.

You might have noticed that Jesus chose common, un-brainwashed laborers as his apostles of his new religion.
