The Gospel is the Power of God unto Salvation.

Some believe that Calvinism is the power of God unto salvation. Catholics believe that the Catholic church is the power of God unto salvation. The apostle Paul said that the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes, Romans 1:16. To everyone that believes what? To everyone that believes the Gospel. Only about 10% of professing Christians believe the Gospel.

The Gospel is not very popular because the Gospel concerns Jesus Christ, most religious people would rather hear something about them and not about Jesus Christ, which makes it difficult for them to hear, believe and be saved. In the Gospel Jesus justifies the ungodly, Romans 4:5 and reconciles them and us and the world unto God, 2 Corinthians 5:18,19. We did not participate in this justification and reconciliation of the ungodly. We are not the instigators of the Gospel, we are the benefactors of the Gospel.

WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?

The Gospel is the work that Jesus did in our name and on our behalf that justifies us and makes us right with God. No one will enter heaven that has not been justified by the doing and the dying of Jesus. In the judgment God must see us "In Christ", all that are not "In Christ" are still in their sins and will perish.

God requires two things for the salvation of fallen man.

1. A life of perfect obedience according to his Holy Law.

2. A perfect atonement for the sins of man and the sins of the whole world.

Here is the good news of the Gospel. Jesus in our name and on our behalf, has victoriously met both of these requirements. Because of the doing and the dying of Jesus we now stand before God as perfect and complete "In Christ" Colossians 2:10.

God reconciled the world unto Himself on the cross. Now we must be reconciled to God by believing His word clearly given to us by the Holy Spirit as He seeks to lead us to Christ for salvation. Those who refuse the call of God through the Holy Spirit will be damned. Those who believe and receive the word of God by the Holy Spirit will be saved.

Jesus has ALREADY reconciled us and the world unto God. It is not conditioned upon whether or not we believe it. It is a past historical event. The natural thing to do is to accept the offer of reconciliation and be saved.

Reconciliation is a TWO-WAY operation. God did His part; we must do our part.
2Cor 5:20 (AKJV/PCE)
(5:20) Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech [you] by us: we pray [you] in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

The Bible mentions that God reconciled the world unto Himself by Jesus' death on the cross and after that the need for sinners to reconcile themselves to God.

2 Corinthians 5
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
