Texas Crisis & Ted Cruz...

Do senators personally have the power to change the weather? If not, what was he supposed to do about the entire situation? I'll bet thousands of people left the cold and went to warmer places. It's always that way. Those without the financial resources are left at home. That's reality. It's been that way since the entrance of sin into the world. So, the root cause of this entire fiasco is sin. Do you think Cruz can get rid of sin in the world? Are you going to stop being a political activist and start to fight to root cause of death, misery, suffering, greed by becoming a Christian and spreading Christianity?

Do I find room in me to blame anyone for leaving Texas during this totally unneeded crisis? Nope. As far as I'm concerned if I lived there and had the money to leave and go spend that time in a warm climate, I would have done it myself. Without power I could have done nothing for anyone else. All I could have done was make I didn't freeze and was still alive to help others after the freeze was over. It's just stupid to put yourself at risk when there is nothing a person can do about the situation if there's anything else you can do. All Cruz could do then, and now, is to work to make sure this federal government overreach never happens again. You know exactly what I mean by that. Put an end to all this socialism and it's consequent horrors.

It's his job.

He gets busy and starts making phone calls, making sure his district gets its portion of emergency supplies and funding. He directs his staff to field inquiries, triage them so that the most urgent get to him personally so he is directly involved, boots on the ground, assisting his people. Someone from a federal agency is more likely to take a call from a senator than from staff. He should have been there, in person, marshaling and coordinating resources because that's his job. I don't care if you take a jet to Timbuktu, you're a private citizen and he's a state senator. He needed to be doing his job, not sipping cocktails on the beach. He blew it. He knows it.

Your cultural appropriation clearly shows that you're a racist bigot.

In addition, your utter hate and disdain for anyone visiting Mexico is just further evidence of your's, Anna's, Eider's, and Rusha's extreme bigotry toward Mexicans.
Wow, you even managed to 'out drivel' your earlier post. Well done!

So ole pedo Joe has zero responsibility in a state emergency, and Ted Cruz is 100 % responsible, which is typical libtard lack of reasoning and logic.

And you personally know Cruz hadn't been working on this behind the scenes and on the phone. He didn't need to be in Texas to do any of that. But he's not supposed to take care of his daughters. Then you'd attack him for being a lousy father. In my estimation he's to be a father first and a senator second. I guess that makes no sense to you. And here I thought I'd read that you're a mother. You would leave your children in a very cold home just so you could play politics, I guess.

There is quite a difference between Creepy Joe and Trump in caring about the people. Trump was johnny on the spot when there was an emergency.

You still haven't answered the question as to "WHY" it is wrong/corrupt to charge extra in hard times, let alone why it is not a good service practice.

Ok, and? Why is that a bad thing?

It is corrupt, careless, opportunistic greed. Quite disgusting.
Communities need support, especially in times of crisis and disaster.
Is that what your World would be like? It couldn't be......

That is exactly what a corrupt, fat, greedy and hypocritical priesthood was doing in early first century Jerusalem, ripping off the peasant classes (there was no middle class) over sacrifices, temple currency exchanges and other services, and I have little doubts as to much the people around Jerusalem were ripping off the people for bed and board. The amazing man, the Baptist, knew how top cut off some of that fat income by cleansing and redeeming folks for nothing. Thry could go home with their hard earned savings.

Keep Mexicans in or out. You do realize there are more Mexicans in the U.S. than there are English in England. You're so racist and bigoted it's really hard to understand you. Are you implying that all Mexicans break the law? What a racist bigoted thing to say.
Ha ha! Hilltrot trying to spin up my opinions so that he can call me a racist.

Now....... how many Mexicans are in the USA?
Let's have that number. Or were you lying?

Are you saying your priorities in an emergency don't include media telling the truth about the situation?
You read what I said....... trying to spin my opinion about 'community support in crisis' in to what you hoped I would write is just deception.

I believe in honest reporting, and I would be really worried if you held all the power in that area. 😁

You're getting ahead of yourself.

Why is it wrong to raise prices during an emergency?

We can talk about profiting off of tragedies after you answer that question.

Do you even understand the difference?
We hear on the news this morning that some Texas households have received bills of over $10,000 for electricity supply during this freeze.

Now, please explain to me how it would be reasonable to double or treble prices for services or supply as soon as there is an emergency or shortage. I cannot wait to read your answer.

I would like you to show me the difference between increasing charges in an emergency and profiting off tragedies.

It is corrupt,

Again, WHY?

Why is it corrupt to raise prices during an emergency?

careless,

Why is it careless?

opportunistic greed.

Why are you assuming negative intent?

Quite disgusting.

You still haven't answered "Why"; so far you've only been repeating your position ad nauseum without explaining why you hold that position.

Communities need support, especially in times of crisis and disaster.

Of course. So why should businesses not raise their prices to cover the cost of providing such support?

It is corrupt, negative, careless and in some cases criminal to raise prices when customers are in distress, emergencies, tragedies or in urgent need:-

This practice is now known as 'Price Gouging', a delightful term which I hope will catch on. Doubling or redoubling charges when a company sees that a customer is in a 'corner' and desperate for help is Greed, pure and simple Greed, which any person can understand whoever they are.

Really successful companies survive and grow by fulfilling three basic needs.
Supplying good services and products to customers at fair prices.
Providing good livelihoods to all their employees.
Providing reasonable returns to their non-executive shareholders.

By showing a complete customer database that the company is a trading shark whenever it gets the chance destroys the customer base, loses employees their jobs and denies shareholders their returns. It will fail!

@annabenedetti showed a link to merry power company executives gloating over the situation. Obviously you never saw that link on whatever thread it was on.

EXAMPLE:-

“Price Gouging”: Taking Advantage Of Consumers In An Emergency
Rebecca is a California resident who recently faced a familiar nightmare – she packed up her children, pets, and a few treasured possessions to flee a fast-moving wildfire. She had no family or close friends in the area, but Rebecca checked a hotel website and found an affordable room about an hour’s drive away, where she thought she and her family would be safe.
However, when Rebecca arrived at the hotel, the price of the room had mysteriously doubled. She confronted the manager, who denied that the sudden price spike was related to an influx of refugees from the fire.

There is plenty there but Annabenedetti is just to much of a political hack to acknowledge the truth because it goes against the left’s narrative.

I'm saying Epoch Times wrote a misleading headline. We agree on that, yes? Because Epoch had it at "Around 70 Suspected Hypothermia Deaths Reported in Texas Homes" which isn't at all what the AP had said.

AP said, as you quote above, "Of the around 70 deaths attributed to the snow, ice and frigid temperatures nationwide, more than a dozen were people who perished in homes that had lost their heat, and most of those were in Texas."

So I'm reading that as (at the time the article was written) 70 deaths nationwide related to the weather which could have been accidents or other reasons but that of those 70 more than a dozen were in homes that had lost their heat, and most of those were in Texas.

You're reading "brandished" into it though. All they're doing is differentiating between total weather-related deaths and deaths in homes with no heat, which makes sense to me. We expect people to be in accidents in icy weather, or to slip and fall on icy sidewalks, etc. It's a staple of local news, right?

But we don't, in today's America, expect people to die in their houses from a lack of heat. It's incongruous, it doesn't mesh with our first-world society, and that catches our attention.

I think if you're determined to find an intent to deceive on the part of the AP, nothing I say will change your mind. But since you wanted my thoughts, there they are. AP gave numbers which were newsworthy, Epoch Times has a lousy headline editor.
If you'll indulge me one more time, what do you think about this one. How many people died in Texas based on this article about Texas?

I liked Ted Cruz back in 2016 when he ran against Donald Trump in the Presidential primaries. Unlike Donald Trump, Ted Cruz spoke the truth and stood strong for traditional Judeo-Christian values. When Cruz boldly stood on stage at the 2016 Republican National Convention and told his supporters to vote their conscience, I was amazed that a politician would say such a thing, as virtue in politics is not a rarity in this day and age, it's completely absent.
Since then it's all been downhill for Ted Cruz: his support of Trump during the Russian collusion and Insurrection impeachments, and now this.
You are still stupid.
