Do senators personally have the power to change the weather? If not, what was he supposed to do about the entire situation? I'll bet thousands of people left the cold and went to warmer places. It's always that way. Those without the financial resources are left at home. That's reality. It's been that way since the entrance of sin into the world. Do I find room in me to blame anyone for leaving Texas during this totally unneeded crisis? Nope. As far as I'm concerned if I lived there and had the money to leave and go spend that time in a warm climate, I would have done it myself. Without power I could have done nothing for anyone else. All I could have done was make I didn't freeze and was still alive to help others after the freeze was over. It's just stupid to put yourself at risk when there is nothing a person can do about the situation if there's anything else you can do. All Cruz could do then, and now, is to work to make sure this federal government overreach never happens again. You know exactly what I mean by that. And you personally know Cruz hadn't been working on this behind the scenes and on the phone. He didn't need to be in Texas to do any of that. But he's not supposed to take care of his daughters. Then you'd attack him for being a lousy father. In my estimation he's to be a father first and a senator second. I guess that makes no sense to you. And here I thought I'd read that you're a mother. It is corrupt, negative, careless and in some cases criminal to raise prices when customers are in distress, emergencies, tragedies or in urgent need:-

This practice is now known as 'Price Gouging', a delightful term which I hope will catch on. Doubling or redoubling charges when a company sees that a customer is in a 'corner' and desperate for help is Greed, pure and simple Greed, which any person can understand whoever they are.

Really successful companies survive and grow by fulfilling three basic needs.
Supplying good services and products to customers at fair prices.
Providing good livelihoods to all their employees.
Providing reasonable returns to their non-executive shareholders.

By showing a complete customer database that the company is a trading shark whenever it gets the chance destroys the customer base, loses employees their jobs and denies shareholders their returns. It will fail!

I'm saying Epoch Times wrote a misleading headline. We agree on that, yes? Because Epoch had it at "Around 70 Suspected Hypothermia Deaths Reported in Texas Homes" which isn't at all what the AP had said.

AP said, as you quote above, "Of the around 70 deaths attributed to the snow, ice and frigid temperatures nationwide, more than a dozen were people who perished in homes that had lost their heat, and most of those were in Texas."

So I'm reading that as (at the time the article was written) 70 deaths nationwide related to the weather which could have been accidents or other reasons but that of those 70 more than a dozen were in homes that had lost their heat, and most of those were in Texas.

You're reading "brandished" into it though. All they're doing is differentiating between total weather-related deaths and deaths in homes with no heat, which makes sense to me. We expect people to be in accidents in icy weather, or to slip and fall on icy sidewalks, etc. It's a staple of local news, right?

But we don't, in today's America, expect people to die in their houses from a lack of heat. It's incongruous, it doesn't mesh with our first-world society, and that catches our attention.

I think if you're determined to find an intent to deceive on the part of the AP, nothing I say will change your mind. But since you wanted my thoughts, there they are. AP gave numbers which were newsworthy, Epoch Times has a lousy headline editor.

I liked Ted Cruz back in 2016 when he ran against Donald Trump in the Presidential primaries. Unlike Donald Trump, Ted Cruz spoke the truth and stood strong for traditional Judeo-Christian values.
