coupla days ago the Canadian supreme court (yep, they got their very own!) ruled to set aside the current laws on physician assisted suicide

Friday, the CBC reported on it as "Physician Assisted Suicide" exclusively

Saturday, all you heard wuz "Physician Assisted Death"

Sunday they were mixed, half and half

Today, they're back to "Death"

also today, the news wuz that a conservative MP (member of parliament) crossed the floor and joined the liberals

(boo hiss)

when interviewed, one of the reasons she stated for her move was a desire to more closely align with "a woman's right to choose"

choose what?

whether or not to speak French in quebec?
whether or not to order extra gravy on her poutine?
whether to root for the habs or the leafs?

no, prolly she wants to protect Canadian wimmen's "right to choose" to murder their children

That's America's Hat for you. I'm just glad nothing like that could possibly happen in the U.S. Congress.

i don't believe i've ever heard of a prostitute referred to as a prostitute on the cbc

they're officially referred to as "sex workers"

Canadian Guidelines on Sexually Transmitted Infections

Section 6 - Specific Populations

Sex Workers

Definition

Sex workers are female, male or transgendered adults or young people who receive money, shelter or goods in exchange for sexual services, either regularly or occasionally, and who may or may not consciously define those activities as income-generating.Footnote 1 There are no reliable verbal or visual clues as to whether a patient is a sex worker or not. Where appropriate, patients should be asked whether they ever receive money, shelter or goods in exchange for sexual services.

money, shelter or goods

not services?

and today they were interviewing a Christian (Canadian) doctor who was against proposed legislation that would force health care providers to act against their conscience and he mentioned "doctor-assisted suicide"

the interviewer corrected him with "doctor assisted death"

If an inmate on death row killed himself before the scheduled execution, people would probably be happy about the huge tax dollars saved.

If a guy doomed to death by terminal cancer kills himself before the suffering has completely run its course in a place like Canada where his medical treatment is being paid for by tax dollars, isn't it the same thing?

who among us is not doomed to death?

whose life does not have suffering?

i foresee a time when terminal patients are encouraged (or forced) into ending their "suffering", based on economic reasons

another example of skewing the message:

Obama avoids using "Islamic" and "terrorism" in the same phrase

WASHINGTON -- President Obama said Muslim leaders have a responsibility to push back against twisted interpretations of Islam.

This is day two of a White House conference on extremism. The president declined to label al Qaeda and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) "Islamic terrorists," and he's taking some heat from critics.

"The notion that the West is at war with Islam is an ugly lie," said Obama. "And all of us, regardless of our faith, have a responsibility to reject it."
At a White House conference on violent extremism, Mr. Obama appeared to take pains to separate Islam from terrorism.

Critics fault the president for not labeling the terror Islamic, and at a private Republican gathering in New York Wednesday night, former mayor Rudy Giuliani went even further.

"I do not believe that the president loves America. What's wrong with this man," asked Giuliani, "that he can't stand up and say there's a part of Islam that's sick?"
