School board puts the brakes on promoting critical race theory

My hat is off to the Johnston County Schoolboard. It's good to see common sense prevail over mob-think racist ideology. I work for a company that has helped build several Johnston County schools in North Carolina over the last 4 years. Thank you, school board!

A North Carolina school board has adopted a policy that would discipline or dismiss teachers if they incorporate critical race theory (CRT) into their teaching of the history of the United States.

The Johnston County school board on Oct. 1 unanimously approved an amended code of ethics policy after the county’s Republican-run board of commissioners said it would withhold $7.9 million in school funding until the policy was passed, The News & Observer of Raleigh reported.

Critical Race Theory is not only stupid and untrue, it is extremely harmful to all Americans.

The idea that white people are congenitally disabled by virtue of being born white and must receive therapy by learning tenets of critical race theory is a racist and preposterous belief (“Battle Over Critical Race Theory,” Christopher F. Rufo, op-ed, June 28). If it weren’t so dangerous—especially with the bigotry of low expectations implicit in the theory’s teaching that absent the scaffold of white self-abasement, African-Americans will not achieve their full potential—the whole enterprise would be comical. Most Americans, white and black, pursue a one-day-at-a-time pace, trying to keep their loved ones safe, fed and happy. Now we will have to add hurdling progressive charlatans to the daily grind.

Backed by Biden and his leftist Gestapo, many schools and teachers are telling parents they have no right to train their children. And the perverts and Marxists are getting away with it.

Teachers are out to ignore the wishes of parents, yet again. In an April 26 Zoom meeting titled “Creating and Sustaining GSAs in Elementary Schools,” a teacher describes, even brags, about ignoring the wishes of a student’s parents (h/t Daily Mail).

For context, GSAs are Gender & Sexualities Alliances.

In the meeting, the teacher explains that a pair of parents—who the teacher makes a point to repeatedly call “caregivers” instead of parents—requested that their child be addressed by his or her given name and pronouns that align with his or her biological gender. The teacher, however, refuses and, after seeking approval from the principal and superintendent to do so, tells the parents that they can do whatever they want at home, but at school, their child falls under the teacher’s rules.

If only they had a clue about what critical race theory is, as opposed to the idiotic boogeyman they've been handed by right wing media and politicians. But sadly, they don't. So they joust at imaginary demons and dragons and celebrate their fanciful "victories".

I've spent more time reading the original source material than listening to comments on it. But what I have heard seems fairly accurate. Perhaps I've been wrong. What is critical race theory?

The critical race theory delusion is the birthchild of decades of democrat brainwashing designed to make blacks and liberals think all Americans opposing democrat corruption, hedonism, Marxism, and perversion are black-hating racists who need to be put down by force, by law, by voter fraud, or whatever.

Critical Race Theory is an idea taught in law schools pertaining to how racism as a sociological construct becomes endemic to society's legal systems. An excellent example would be the U.S. founders belief that all women and men of non-European origin were not to be legally considered the equal to white men of European origin. And this sexist/racist presumption then profoundly effected how laws were written and enforced at the time, and to some degree how they still are.

No one is teaching CRT in any grade or high school, anywhere, beyond it's mention in relation to a standard history curriculum. And even in colleges it's relegated to the students of law or those taking it as a chosen elective out of curiosity. No one is teaching kids that white people are bad because they are all racists. This is another imaginary 'boogeyman' being foisted on the ignorant by the media and politicians of the right to keep their "base" tuning in and outraged for the sake of gaining ratings and votes.

I simply looked in the Encyclopedia Britanica. Something ANYONE could very easily have done, had they not been SO intent of remaining ignorant, and SO eager to jump on that hater's band-wagon.

How does critical race theory challenge the neutrality of law?

critical race theory (CRT), intellectual and social movement and loosely organized framework of legal analysis based on the premise that race is not a natural, biologically grounded feature of physically distinct subgroups of human beings but a socially constructed (culturally invented) category that is used to oppress and exploit people of colour. Critical race theorists hold that racism is inherent in the law and legal institutions of the United States insofar as they function to create and maintain social, economic, and political inequalities between whites and nonwhites, especially African Americans. Critical race theorists are generally dedicated to applying their understanding of the institutional or structural nature of racism to the concrete (if distant) goal of eliminating all race-based and other unjust hierarchies.

Here are the facts: Critical Race Theory is a leftist Marxist point of view that promotes the false premise that whites are racists with a history of "exploiting people of colour." That is a racist and erroneous point of view and not a fact. The Marxist Ministries of Truth pretend and promote the lie as a fact but it is still a lie.

And it most certainly is not limited to law schools. It may have started there but it's in elementary schools now thanks to progressivism.

Racism IS institutionalized in this country. So is sexism, and most especially so is classism. To the degree that it does effect our laws and our legal system. This is not a mystery. Everyone knows it. It's part and parcel of U.S. history just as it is in a great many other countries and societies. Recognizing this is not a "movement". And it's not some sort of anti-social plot. It's just a fact of life among we humans. We are a biased people that tend to favor our own at the expense of others. And so the majority will always tend to skew their laws and legalities in their own favor.

The problem with this is that if it is left to be ignored, it tends to become too extreme, and creates avenues for excessive abuse and exploitation. Like slavery. That can tear a culture or society apart (as it did during the time of the U.S. Civil War). This is not a "conspiracy"; this is just a simple fact. Not just about our culture and society, but of all human cultures and societies. Freedom and social well-being cannot exist unequally. It just becomes oppression, then. And when that oppression becomes too extreme, societies collapse into warfare and revolution. In much the same way as water seeks to follow gravity through the course of least resistance.

No one is attacking or insulting anyone by stating these simple and obvious facts of our reality, and of human history. There is no plot to brainwash or denigrate anyone's children by telling them that this is part of human behavior and history, including that of the U.S.

CRT, however, is specifically about the legal aspects of this phenomena. And as a school curriculum, is only taught at the college level, to law students. It does not exist in high school or grade school. All that's being taught in high school and grade school is history. Which of course does include the reality of racism and sexism as it relates to culture and society; both ours and others. There is no 'boogeyman', here. There is no secret conspiracy to blame all white people for all of society's problems. There is just the simple fact of the existence of racism and sexism among we humans, and that these do effect how human societies and cultures function, in a negative way.

What part of teaching our children this are you all up in arms about? What part are you so keen to fire teachers over?

When the history that's being taught in high school and grade school includes the following, I'll be satisfied.

It's long but it's worth listening to the whole thing. Sowell is a brilliant man. Born into poverty in the segregationalist South. His bio is an inspiration to everybody regardless of the color of their skin. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Sowell

Racism IS institutionalized in this country ... To the degree that it does effect our laws and our legal system.
Our laws and our legal system are determined by our systems of government, of which there are three branches.

If you want to argue that the executive branch, which is tasked with enforcing law, is racist, explain how a majority of the population elected to the top executive position a negro. Explain how a majority of the population reelected that negro to the same position. And explain how a majority of the population elected to the second highest position in that branch a negro woman.

If you want to argue that the legislative branch of government, which is tasked with making law, is racist, explain how the 117th Congress has 124 members who identify as persons of color.

If you want to argue that the judicial branch of government which is tasked with interpreting law, is racist, explain how it is that 44% of the current Supreme Court is non-white, and with the appointment of the latest Justice 22% of it will be negro, in a country whose negro population is 12.4%.

It appears to me that the only way you can make the argument that racism is institutionalized in America you have to argue that negroes and other persons of color are creating that institutionalized racism. And for you, a white man, an example of the patriarchy, to presume that they shouldn't is the epitome of racism as far as I'm concerned.

You racist!
