My Jewish friend Nathalie asked me to attend Rosh Hashanah dinner with her. If I accepted, would that be spitting in the eye of God?

The question was hypothetical. But you were right on, because it was based upon a past experience. In college, which was over 25 years ago, I did attend Rosh Hashanah with a Jewish friend named Sharon. Currently I have another Jewish female friend named Nathalie. So I was kind of mixing and matching experiences. I hope this does not confuse you or take away from the point I was making.
