The reason for my children being in homeschooling rather than public schools is no other but public schools in my area are really a failure.
I opted for Seton homeschooling, which was recommended by other people because the program itself is very good. We were not forced to be Catholic neither to choose curriculum including Catholic doctrines.
My only concern was the subjects carried lots of homework, but I guess such became good for them at the end.
About their social life, my children played with neighbors as usual and such part of their lives wasn't much affected, after all, my children didn't make friends when they were in public school anyways.
Now well, public schools in other areas in my county are veery good, and I know because I asked once a transfer for one of my children, and by miracle was approved, and my child received very good education at the other school outside of my area. So, don't take me wrong, I'm not against education in public school but that in my case, the best for my children was home schooling. Good private schools were also far away from my area.
Amazing thing is that I did catch lots of new answer to former incognita I found on the plot of some novels used to study in literature. Of course, I didn't share my "discoveries" with my children but I just allowed them to write their essays by their own. Years later I made some comments with them about those novels, but solely when an analogy was needed in those occasions.
With homeschooling parents reshape their knowledge as well, that is another benefit for the family.
