"I have my own private opinion that there is no such thing as preaching Christ and Him crucified, unless we preach what nowadays is called Calvinism. It is a nickname to call it Calvinism; Calvinism is the gospel, and nothing else."

Charles Spurgeon was wrong. The "gospel" is just that -- the "gospel"! It is NOT Calvinism or any other kind of "ism."

What About The Original Gospel Sermon?

What About The Original Gospel Sermon?

Wow! Of all the things I've read in this thread, I haven't seen the original, Holy Spirit inspired gospel message cited anywhere.

It's recorded in Acts 2; obviously there's not enough space here to cite the whole chapter. But there is a part of it that requires a very specific response from everyone, in the form of a two-part command given at the end of Peter's message:

"Now the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, 'Brothers, what shall we do?' Peter replied, 'Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (2:38)

That message in Acts 2, including the two-part command above was the apostles' response of obedience to the LORD's command previously given:

[B]"This is what is written: 'The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.'"[/B]

Peter's message on the day of Pentecost was exactly what Christ had commanded be done only days before. And the gospel message Peter preached was the original Holy Spirit inspired gospel message... the first one ever preached... the prototype gospel message preached, every word guided by the Spirit of Truth (Jno. 16:12-15).

Obviously, there are countless subjects in Christian living to be studied, taught, and preached about. But that message above is constant. It is the the message that is to be preached to all who have never obeyed the gospel. (Acts 2:38, Heb. 5:9)

Preached unto him Jesus !

Preached unto him Jesus !

Acts 8:35

Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

Matt 1:21

21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

What Jesus do you and I preach ? What Jesus was preached to you and I ? Well the Jesus whom the Apostles Preached, and the Angel spoke of here in the text, was an Jesus that had an specific mission from God the Father, and why He came into this world, and it was for the saving of a specific Pepole given to Him by the Father Jn 17:2, they were given in Divine Election Eph 1:4, Having been Chosen in Him before the foundation.

Yes, before He came into the World, this People had been given to Him in the Everlasting Covenant, which He had been made Surety to Heb 7:22

22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament/covenant

Heb 13:20

20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

So Jesus of Matt 1:21 had a Covenant Mission to shed His Blood for a Specific People.

This People is referred to here Acts 18:10-11

10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

This was in line with His Commission Matt 28:20

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

So the Many People in Acts 18:10 refer to some of those mentioned here Matt 1:21.

And this People contrary to the lie that they are all ethnic jews, they are all who comprise His Body the Church. Those that He said were His much People in Acts 18:10 would not have been only ethnic jews, but gentiles also in Corinth!

Now this Jesus, contrary to the false jesus's being preached in our generation, the True Jesus was to seek and to save His People from their sins Lk 19:10

10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

He did not come to provide an opportunity to get saved, or to make it possible they be saved, but to actually save them !

The word save as in to save a aorist active infinitive, its the word verb sōzō:

to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction

one (from injury or peril)

to save a suffering one (from perishing), i.e. one suffering from disease, to make well, heal, restore to health

to preserve one who is in danger of destruction, to save or rescue

to save in the technical biblical sense

negatively

to deliver from the penalties of the Messianic judgment

to save from the evils which obstruct the reception of the Messianic deliverance

Basically, He saves them from all negative consequences of their sins. He even saves them from the evils which obstruct their reception [the act of receiving] of this great Salvation deliverance !

All hinderances are dealt with which would prevent them from receiving Salvation by Faith !

And, The Jesus of Matt 1:21 did not come to save all people in general, the biggest lie ever told, But a People in Particular Heb 2:16

16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.

Is this the Jesus you preach and believe in ? If not, I am afraid you believe in another jesus ! 2 Cor 11:4

For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

Preached unto him Jesus ! 2

Preached unto him Jesus ! 2

When we Preach the Jesus that saves His People from their sins Matt 1:21, we are carelessly negligent if we faill to give Him the full credit for saving those He died for; saving them not only from the penalty of their sins, but also from the power of them. Man cannot believe on Christ until he is saved from the power of sin !

One of the evidences of being under the Power of sin is unbelief, for all unbelievers not born again are under the power of sin and the devil 2 Cor 4:3-4

3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Unbelief is an element of spiritual death and its control. So if one for whom He died for dies in unbelief and their sins Jn 8:24 then His redemptive death and its effects, failed to deliver one He died for from their sins and all of its consequences, which is a discredit and put down His Death and Resurrection, because one for whom He died is still in their sins and under the power of them and the devil !

The Gospel of the Kingdom of God !

The Gospel of the Kingdom of God !

Acts 8:12

12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

Now many of the unlearned in false religion would tell us that the Gospel of the Kingdom of God is a different Gospel from the Gospel of Jesus Christ which is preached 1 Cor 15:1-4.

Now it is clear from scripture that Philip preached the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, and the Name of Jesus Christ together and baptized them that believed, and so why wouldwe suppose he preached something different, a different Gospel and Jesus Christ to the Gentile Ethiopian Acts 8:26-36

26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.

27 And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,

28 Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.

29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

30 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

31 And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

33 In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.

34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?

35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

Is this not also Preaching the Gospel according to the scriptures ? Vs 35

This also tells us that the Gospel of the Kingdom was preached in the OT.

Did not Philip give water baptism to the Ethiopian after Preaching as he did to those earlier here Acts 8:12 ?

Folks, the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, and the Gospel Paul preached to both jew and gentiles 1 Cor 15:1-4 are one and the same !

But as touching the Election, they are beloved !

But as touching the Election, they are beloved !

Rom 11:28

28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes.

In the original its τὴν ἐκλογὴν , The Election, the one and only Election of God !

Not to preach the Election in the Gospel, it is no Gospel at all, no, you have another gospel ! For Election Election is nothing short of God's Purpose to Save His People from their Sins Matt 1:21

21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Lets read 2 Tim 1:9

9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Paul writes, "who have saved us according to His Own Purpose and Grace ! What Purpose and Grace ? Why this Purpose and Grace. Rom 9:11

11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth )

See that ? The Purpose OF GOD according to Election ! That's the Purpose of 2 Tim 1:9; and also what Grace ? Lets look at Rom 11:5

5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

That's the Grace of 2 Tim 1:9, the Election of Grace.

If any are saved by Christ Jesus, it must be according to purpose of the Election of Grace.

Also this Purpose of Election is stated quite clearly that it originates from before the World Began, and it has as it's object's Us, the Beloved, Individuals ! Individuals that God foreknew personally as Beloved in Christ 1 Pet 1:1-2

Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

Its a foreknowing of a specific THEM as Per Rom 8:28-30

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

His Name being called Jesus is foundationed in His Purpose of Election to save His People only Matt 1:21. The Gospel Call in time as Per 2 Thess 2:14 is founded upon His Purpose of Election before time 2 Tim 1:9. The Call of the Gospel 2 Thess 2:14

14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Is the Call here 2 Tim 1:9

9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

This call is by the Gospel ! If any preach a so called gospel and neglects Election as its core , and essence, its a false gospel and Paul says it plainly Gal 1:8-9

8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Paul knew and Preached only One Gospel, and its objects for Salvation is stated here 2 Tim 2:10

10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

Salvation which is in Christ Jesus, is only for them, the Elect and that's the Gospel Truth !

Lk 24:45-47

45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Now what does this mean ? The servants of the devil have so perverted this text and others, to teach that repentance is a condition for Salvation. That man is commanded to repent in order for God to remit or forgive them their sins; however that is absolutely wrong and destroys the Gospel Message.

First of all, Jesus tells His servants here not to command men anything, but to Preach to them. The word preached here is the word kēryssō and actually means:

II.to publish, proclaim openly: something which has been done

Its the proclaiming openly of something done, accomplished, completed !

So technically its not giving people a warning or a command to do anything. Its actually more of a publishing of Good things.

Ps 26:7

That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works.

Ps 68:11

The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.

Isa 52:7

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

So the point here is that the Disciple's were to proclaim and announce to the hearing world of the redeemed, what Christ has done.

In other words, the preaching is also the cause of their hearing the publication, or what's being published by the messengers.

Its false gospel preaching to set forth repentance as something must do to get saved or otherwise be damned ! That is not what Lk 24:47 is about, or any other Preaching of Gospel Tidings.

Jesus says here clearly what is to be preached, that Repentnace and Remission of sins are preached, proclaimed in His Name !

His Name means all of His Person and Work, His Accomplishment, and as a Result of His Work, God has exalted Him to GIVE REPENTANCE to ISRAEL [HIS ELECT] and FORGIVENESS of SINS ! If you do not believe me, lets read Acts 5:31

31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

The Word repentance here is the greek word μετανοέω and means:

I.to change one's mind, i.e. to repent

II.to change one's mind for better, heartily to amend with abhorrence of one's past sins

What Peter here is Preaching, Proclaiming is this : Christ is Risen to give Israel the gift of a changed life and sins forgiven.

In other Words, Repentance is the Exclusive Gift of the Risen and Exalted Savior of His People.

That's where Repentance towards God comes from. It Comes from Christ, its not something man must conjure up in his nature and do in order to get forgiveness of sins or else be damned.

Repentance is evidence of Christ being ones Savior, who is exalted at the Right Hand of God !

to give Israel the gift of a changed life and sins forgiven.

To them that are Called !

To them that are Called !

1 Cor 1:23-24

23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

The Preaching of Christ crucified when it comes to Salvation is restricted to them that are called, denoting those who have been quickened to life and have been given ears to hear spiritually, it is to them alone, the Power of God and the Wisdom of God.

Let us notice that the Called ones here are distinguished from the mere jews and gentiles in general in Vs 23. These called ones are also identified as having been Chosen by God 1 Cor 1:27-28

27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
So here we have a Chosen Called, which are different from plain called and not chosen Matt 22:14

14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

But the Called of 1 Cor 1:24 are the Chosen of Eph 1:4. The word called here is the same word used as to when Paul was called to be an Apostle 1 Cor 1:1 and when the Corinthians were called to be Saints 1 Cor 1:2 !

And it is exclusively to these that Christ Crucified is the Power and Wisdom of God !

Its an Revelation from God !

Its an Revelation from God !

Rom 1:16-17

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

17 For therein[The Gospel] is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

The Gospel to those who are saved, is a spiritual message that reveals to Faith given by God, the Righteousness of God imputed. The word revealed in Vs 17n is the greek word apokaluptó:

I uncover, bring to light, reveal.

properly, uncover, revealing what is hidden (veiled, obstructed), especially its inner make-up; (figuratively) to make plain (manifest), particularly what is immaterial (invisible).

Remember Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen or what is invisible !

Now understand something, all whom Christ was made sin for, in exchange, they all were made the Righteousness of God in Him ! 2 Cor 5:21

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

This occurred before they were born and all there days in unregenercy its a fact, however at that time its unknown to them, its hidden knowledge, its covered up.

But to them whom its true of God sends them the Gospel of their Salvation which reveals to their God given Faith " The Righteousness of God" they have to their account. The Righteousness of God here Rom 1:17

17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Its the same as here 2 Cor 5:21

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Now the Spirit must have given us a and be unto us a Spirit of revelation and wisdom Eph 1:17-18

17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

That word revelation is used in Lk 2:32

32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

a light that will reveal salvation to unbelievers and bring glory to your people Israel."ISV

That's what the Gospel does to the saved. The Gospel is the Wisdom of God 1 Cor 1:24

24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

Hes that Wisdom of God Paul speaks of here 1 Cor 2:6-10

6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:

7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

So it make perfect sense that when wisdom calls in the Gospel, its directed to them that have been given the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation, to know the Hope of His Calling !

2 Cor 5:19 The Word of Reconciliation !

2 Cor 5:19 The Word of Reconciliation !

The Truth here in 2 Cor 5:19

19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Is the Gospel, at least Part of it, and what is the Gospel Now has always been Gal 3:8

8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

This aspect of Gospel Truth that is the Word of Reconciliation is that for those Christ died for "God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them"

Now it amazes me how that so many in false religion do refer to this verse to teach the lie that Christ died for all mankind without exception ! First of all the verse does not even state that and quite frankly what it does say speaks totally opposite of that lie, in fact nowhere in scripture does it state that or imply that all mankind has been exempt from having their sins not imputed to them, for instance Jn 8:24

24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

Now how is that even remotely possible if their sins are not being charged unto them as is the case with those who comprise the World of 2 Cor 5:19 ?

19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

2 Cor 5:19 The Word of Reconciliation !2

2 Cor 5:19 The Word of Reconciliation !2

Now the word of reconciliation is that " To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing or charging their trespasses unto them"

Now let it be understood from the outset, those who have no sin charged upon them, are Justified from all sin, for God did away with them [their trespasses sins, transgressions, iniquities, offences, disobedience] in Christ.

Now if they have no sins charged upon them, that means God in His Infinite Wisdom and Knowledge, and Holiness, cannot find against them not one sin of theirs against His Law , because the strength of sin is the Law 1 Cor 15:56

56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

In other words, sin is the transgression of the Law 1 Jn 3:4

4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

But sin is not imputed where there is no transgression Rom 5:13

13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Or Transgression of the Law ! In other words, sin was not imputed to Adam and his descendants until he transgressed !

So, what's the obvious conclusion if God does not impute sin to the world of 2 Cor 5:19 ? Its this, He see's no transgressions against them against His Law !

And here's why 1 Jn 3:5

5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

That's part of what it means "that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself,"

In that He took away our sins or remove our sins. That He did by satisfying God's Law and Justice on their behalf for all their transgressions, that's for all time, Remember it is also written Rom 4:8

8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

That word not is ou mē and means:

I. never, certainly not, not at all, by no means, in no wise ! That covers all past, present and future !

This is true because God has forever accepted and is so well pleased with Christ's Sacrifice for them, having forever satisfied His Law and Justice.

This is part of the Gospel Message, the Word of Reconciliation !

2 Cor 5:19 The Word of Reconciliation !3

2 Cor 5:19

19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Now what trespasses are not counted or imputed unto them ? Lets look at Col 2:13

And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

The word trespasses is the greek word paraptōma:

I.
to fall beside or near something

II.
a lapse or deviation from truth and uprightness
A.
a sin, misdeed

Its also used as the word offence !

And All offences / trespasses have not been charged to the world of 2 Cor 5:19, this includes the worlds very first trespass/offence here Rom 5:15-18

15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.

17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

So for starters, it includes the very first offence that is not imputed, here in Adam Rom 5:15

15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

Then secondly their own many offences/trespasses as in Rom 5:16b

16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.

You see that, it covers the one by Adam, then the many by each individual from that one ! All of the many offences here in Vs 16 are not imputed that world in 2 Cor 5:19, the whole world of them are Justified unto Life, which is what Vs 18 means Rom 5:18

18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

BTW that's why there is no imputation, because of imputed Righteousness also !

Now to deny this, quite frankly its to deny the word of reconciliation 2 Cor 5:19.

Now is this Truth what is meant when false teachers refer to this verse as a proof text for the lie that Christ died for all men without exception ? NO IT'S NOT, they do not mean to teach what it really means, which is a Justified world, with no sin charged to it before God's Law and Justice, so therefore they only prove to be false teachers, not sent by God, and guilty of preaching a false Gospel Gal 1:8-9 !

2 Cor 5:19 The Word of Reconciliation ! 4

2 Cor 5:19 The Word of Reconciliation ! 4

2 Cor 5:19

19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

2 Cor 5:19 to you that don't know and abuse it to death to falsely teach that Christ died for all mankind without exception, this World is a Most Blessed World of men and women, who even in a unregenerate state are free from all sin and guilt and transgression of God's Law, not one sin does God hold against them, so it can be emphatically challenged of them as Paul has done here Rom 8:33

33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.

The meaning and indication here is quite reasonable and simple, If God who is greater than all, does not impute sin against a people, a world [His Elect] or the World of 2 Cor 5:19, then who else can and it mean anything ? And so by it being something that God does not do unto them, and no one else can to any avail, it means it is God that Justifieth ! The word Justifieth here in Rom 8:33 means:

I.
to render righteous or such he ought to be

II.
to show, exhibit, evince, one to be righteous, such as he is and wishes himself to be considered

III.
to declare, pronounce, one to be just, righteous, or such as he ought to be

Now understand, this unregenerate world of 2 Cor 5:19, whom God does not impute sin, as a result of it, they are Justified and delared to be Righteous before Him !

And since in the verse here in Rom 8:33 speaks of God's Elect, then its reasonable to conclude that the world in 2 Cor 5:19 is a collection, a gathering of God's Elect from all generations and all ethnicities of all time !

You see, what people fail to realize is that one of the definitions of the word World ,Kosmos is :VIII.any aggregate or general collection of particulars of any sort

Particulars as the Elect ! For instance, all of Christ's Sheep in particular , gathered into One Fold Jn 10:16

16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

That's a World, in Fact its the World of 2 Cor 5:19 !

To Understand the Gospel !

To Understand the Gospel !

To believe the Gospel fruitfully [producing good results] we must understand it as Matt 13:23

23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

True belief of the Truth is more than just hearing it audibly, but its accompanied with understanding. The word heareth akouō:

I.
to be endowed with the faculty of hearing, not deaf

II.
to hear
A.
to attend to, consider what is or has been said

B.
to understand, perceive the sense of what is said

III.
to hear something
A.
to perceive by the ear what is announced in one's presence

B.
to get by hearing learn

C.
a thing comes to one's ears, to find out, learn

D.
to give ear to a teaching or a teacher

E.
to comprehend, to understand

Who can deny that this Hearing is Joined with understanding, learning, perceiving !

This same word for hearing is used in Rom 10:14,17 and Eph 1:13

And the word understandeth συνίημι and means:

I.
to set or bring together
A.
in a hostile sense, of combatants

II.
to put (as it were) the perception with the thing perceived
A.
to set or join together in the mind
i.
i.e. to understand: the man of understanding

ii.
idiom for: a good and upright man (having the knowledge of those things which pertain to salvation)

The prominent Idea is bringing together in the Mind, to be able to comprehend a thing or things.

So Hearing and believing the Gospel of God has with it an element of understanding it.

Now here is the thing, none of us by nature have this kind of understanding of God, nor the things of God, this is plainly set forth here Rom 3:11

There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

That's right, the understanding required to Hear the Word of God fruitfully by Hearing and Understanding it, Rom 10:14,17,Eph 1:13 none does by Nature !

Its again Illustrated in the Parable Matt 13:13-16

13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

The point here is that the Blessed Hearing Ears of Vs 16 also have the understanding that those don't have in Vs 13-15.

So when told His Disciples, blessed are your Ears and Eyes because they See and Hear and Understand the Mysteries of the Kingdom and its Gospel Matt 13:11-12,23

11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Vs 12 informs us that we are not given all understanding at one time, but where it has been given initially, more shall be given and that in abundance.

Ii find this to be needed because many today believe that the natural man is the one that Hears the Gospel and Faith cometh Rom 10:17 or that its the Natural Man in Eph 1:13 who Hears the Gospel of their Salvation, which is impossible since the natural man by nature does not understand God nor seek after God Rom 3:11.

And that's why Jesus said in Matt 13:23, that the one hearing and understanding the voice of the Kingdom is they one who received it in good ground Matt 13:23

23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

We know that Good Ground here means Good Heart by the fact the ground is said to be a Heart in Vs 19

Matt 13:19

19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

Notice also, he received it, but did not understand it !

But none of us have a Good Heart by Nature See Jer 17:9; Rom 3:10-12

10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

This is an indictment of all who claim to have believed the Gospel before having been given a Good Heart by New birth into the Kingdom, they are all liars !

To Understand the Gospel ! 2

To Understand the Gospel ! 2

We have by the Grace and Mercy of God attempt to show that the True Nature of Believing the Gospel of God is that its heard with Spiritual Ears and with an Element of Understanding, which see that man by nature is void of. See Rom 3:11 !

Now to give more evidence of the unregenerate, of which we all are by nature, that we have no understanding to believe the Gospel or Spiritual Truth here is Eph 4:18

18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

Now don't go the finger pointing route and say that only applies to the gentiles, it applies to all who are by nature alienated from the Life of God !

That word alienated means:

I.
to alienate, estrange

II.
to be shut out from one's fellowship and intimacy

It goes deeper though, It also means being an alien, belonging to another:

belonging to another

foreign, strange, not of one's own family, alien, an enemy

This denotes that while unregenerate we belong to the possession of the devil, his slave, and by nature we are the children of wrath as his children are. We are in his grasp, his domain of darkness.

And so by that, our natural understanding, to the things of God, His Gospel, His Kingdom, Our understanding is darkened Eph 4:18

The word darkened . The word darkened here is the greek word skotizō:

I.
to cover with darkness, to darken

II.
to be covered with darkness, be darkened
A.
of heavenly bodies as deprived of light

B.
metaph.
i.
of the eyes

ii.
of the understanding

iii.
of the mind

And its in the perfect tense, that's how it is when born into this world, and continues to be to the present unless a Divine Intervention tales Place, something supernatural.

In this state the mind is permanently darkened.

We are in Blindness of heart and ignorance, To Spiritual Things, Things of God, Like the scriptures !

The word blindness is pōrōsis:

I.
the covering with a callus

II.
obtrusiveness of mental discernment, dulled perception

III.
the mind of one has been blunted
A.
of stubbornness, obduracy

We are in Blindness of Heart ! Meaning:

I.the heart
A.
that organ in the animal body which is the centre of the circulation of the blood, and hence was regarded as the seat of physical life

B.
denotes the centre of all physical and spiritual life
i.
the vigour and sense of physical life

ii.
the centre and seat of spiritual life
a.
the soul or mind, as it is the fountain and seat of the thoughts, passions, desires, appetites, affections, purposes, endeavours

b.
of the understanding, the faculty and seat of the intelligence

c.
of the will and character
d.
of the soul so far as it is affected and stirred in a bad way or good, or of the soul as the seat of the sensibilities, affections, emotions, desires, appetites, passions

C.
of the middle or central or inmost part of anything, even though inanimate

Folks this is the condition of our heart to Spiritual Matters by nature. Eph 4:18 is speaking of each and one of us by nature, jew or gentiles, black or white, male or female, it does not matter. It goes for John the Baptist, Moses, Elijah, Jonah, Enoch, Job, Jeremiah and the list can on and on King David ! It included all the Twelve Apostles of the Lamb, every person born of a women with the exception of the Lord Jesus Christ !

Save Him, we are all born spiritually dead and alienated from the Life of God, and in this condition are understandings are permanently darkened,It is only by Regeneration, New Birth are we delivered from this plight Eph 4:23-24

23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Its when the Covenant Blood is as applied by New Birth that we begin to Understand Heb 8:10;

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, G1271 and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

Heb 10:16

This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds G1271 will I write them;

Mind here is the same word as in Eph 4:18 for understanding. God's Laws are Spiritual Rom 7:14

14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

The Law of Zion, the Gospel is Spiritual Isa 2:4

And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

The Law is the Word of the Lord, the Gospel,it converts the Souls Ps 19:7

7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

The Testimony of the Gospel makes wise the simple unto Salvation which is in Christ Jesus 2 Tim 3:15,16

15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God

The Scripture, given by inspiriation of God, which the Gospel is from 1 Cor 15:3-4 is from the Inspirationof God, it is only reasonable to conclude, to understand the Inspiration, we are equipped with an understanding that receives the same.

The word inspiration means I.inspired by God and its made up the word pneō:

I.to breathe, to blow
A.
of the wind

The same word used here Jn 3:8

The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

That's who understands the Scripture unto Salvation, those Born of the Spirit, who works as He pleases as the Wind !

The Gospel is to the Saved !

The Gospel is to the Saved !

Who does the Gospel Call goes out to in regards to Salvation ? Its the Saved or the one or ones being saved. 1 Cor 1:18

18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Saved here is a present passive participle, meaning those who are presently being saved by the preaching of the Cross, they are being presently converted by it, to them the preaching is being the power of God.

Now those who are being saved or converted by the power of preaching, they are the same as the ones being Called 1 Cor 1:23-24

23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

Them which are called. The word called here has the definite article before it, so its, to them which belong specifically to the Called, the Called are set in opposite to the ones that hear the preaching of the Christ as foolishness, so obviously they do not belong to the contrasting group the Called.

They are the Called to be saints 1 Cor 1:2

2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both their's and our's:

They also are the ones that were Sanctified in Christ Jesus. This points to the fact that they by His Offering of Himself for them, they are Sanctified by that offering Heb 10:10

10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

The word sanctified in both verses are in the Perfect Tense.

Those who Christ died for, they are by it Sanctified, then later they are Called to be Saints, and these the Gospel converts them, it is to them the Power of God because it's producing the effect of conversion as the power of God !

If the Gospel does not convert us, then we are not of the Called, nor of the Saved, nor of the ones Christ's Death Sanctified Heb 10:10 !
