over coming the world

No, that's not what she or I have said. It's a pity that you don't understand what you say you read in the Scriptures. The Bible says that first we must HAVE FAITH IN JESUS AND HIS RANSOM SACRIFICE IN OUR BEHALF. That comes first.

Then we must show our faith by our works, and follow Jesus' teachings. We cannot "earn" our salvation. Jesus died for us and without his sacrifice we would be lost. We must, however, work in accordance with his life example and his teachings.

1) "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

2) "I will show thee my faith by my works....The devils also believe and tremble....Faith without works is dead." (James 2:18b-20)

3) "Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps." (I Peter 2:21)

That is it in a nutshell. Very easy to understand. Unless you want to shove aside what the Bible actually says.

You're a JW, therefore, your Cult status doesn't lend itself to the TRUTH of Scripture or its interpretation.

So, you're saying that you MUST do 'good works' in order to EARN salvation, huh?

A true repentance comes from a heart circumcised...it desires to do the works...IT WANTS TO...

Out of gratitude for what was done for it to be saved...

That circumcised heart is dead to its old ways...alive only IN HIM...wishing to follow Him HIS WAY

You can probably stop watching those 'WORLDLY' shows for starters.

YES!...very good advise...

FLEE EVIL

Disciplining yourself takes practice...to remove ourselves from the world is to train...fasting helps...

Starve yourself of the world its ways...pray for the strength as Paul did admitting that which he wished to do he did not and that he did that which he wished NOT TO DO...even he knew it wasnt once saved always saved...or no more law...

It’s a life time process of getting closer to Him HIS WAYS...DO IT Meshak

Kill your television...idol maker it is

Idle maker indeed

I understand what you are saying. This is another one of my weaknesses.

I will ponder about it.

I am just wondering if watching TV is sin for His followers.

Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.
And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Romans 14:22-23

It is more than just about sinning...there is also the concept of unclean or not of Him...

“Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters”

It is too narcissistic to think of it as merely about me and my salvation...

Does what I do bring glory to Yah? Is it about Him?

You're a JW, therefore, your Cult status doesn't lend itself to the TRUTH of Scripture or its interpretation.

Can you discuss anything that doesn't line up with your opinion without casting insults? Can you possibly explain just WHY you don't agree? Are you able to do that? Or do you just want to tear me down?

Not at all. What would be a sin would be OVERDOING it----spending more time watching TV than we do in service to others. Watching some TV is not wrong. Also, we would not, as Christians, peruse porn sites or extremely violent or demonic movies or shows. There is nothing inherently wrong with watching TV per se.

You make sense.

I don't watch rated R programs or porn. I am not interested at all.
