I tire of seeing people here say they can and do obey all of God's commands and the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Only Jesus lived a life that is perfect. Stop fooling yourselves by relying on your own power to obey.
Only Jesus lived a life that is perfect.
Jesus lived a perfect life in his own flesh body and he can do the same in our flesh body.
Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection... (Hebrews 6:1)

Paul also said, "There is none righteous, no, not one" Romans 3:10.
You cannot be in the flesh and be perfect, period.
I think the perfection of Jesus points to our own internal perfect divinity.
I think Jesus is perfect in character and when he appears we will be like him. Not many believe that.
I used to think the same. Striving to reach that ideal often includes a subtle rejection of who we are right now. Too often we reach for the future and concentrate on not repeating mistakes from the past and we miss the timeless present moment where God dwells. Not saying it's bad to want to be like Jesus but it can do considerable damage with last negative consequences if we're not carefully aware of the enemy's traps.

Really well said. I just don't see where you disagree with jamie. Also, I really like your post "I think the perfection of Jesus points to our own internal perfect divinity." A big YES from me
Do you suppose that is why Paul said: "But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His." (Romans 8:9)

Well I can agree with you completely on that, the Bible clear we will be like Him in glory, and that is the putting on of the incorruptible, immortal body, and praise Jesus' gift of such great love and mercy! Also, we have eternal life already by His Spirit in us, can't discount that we do have something perfect in us, like a down payment, earnest, on the perfection we will someday have, in His presence, in glory.
1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
2 Corinthians 1:22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
