Tim Stratton (of Free Thinking Ministries) gives some of the same reasons for rejecting Open Theism that others offer, like Jesus' detailed prophecy of Peter's denial, but he offers Molinism as the alternative.
From what I understand him saying, Molinism posits that God has "middle knowledge" that allows Him to know every possible outcome for every possible action by every possible person, and that God chose the world in which the outcomes achieve the best possible end for everybody, including those who reject His salvation, where the best possible end might be eternal conscious torment.
I have a hard time seeing any difference between Molinism and Calvinism, at least based on my understanding, since God is choosing the world where all of the choices are known and the outcomes are assured (allowing God to know the future "free" choices of man). Can anyone here correct my understanding of Molinism or suggest why it would be superior to Open Theism?
