As many as seven people have died and up to another 20 were injured when a deranged employee returned to work at his Kansas turf care company and opened fire on his colleagues, authorities said.

The gunman has been shot dead after his rampage Thursday afternoon at Excel Industries in tiny Hesston, some 35 miles north of Wichita, Harvey County Sheriff T. Walton said. A total of of four to seven people, including the gunman, were killed, Walton said.

There were at least four or five crime scenes associated with the rampage, Walton said. The unidentified man shot at least two people in cars as he drove towards Excel, then shot another person in a parking lot outside the lawn mowing manufacturer before bursting into the building and opening fire inside sometime before 5 p.m. local time, Walton said.

The gunman was shot dead by a police officer, Walton said.

So now that we've had at least one mass shooting in a traditionally gun-obsessed state, where does that leave all the ammosexuals obsessed with the delusion of "the good guy with a gun"?

At least, assuming any of them remove their gun range earmuffs long enough to hear the news.

If a person thinks they can talk impressionable people into gun control at the price of martyrdom if they should ever be assaulted or killed by another, go right ahead.

Otherwise
Leave other people alone about it

Also
An 'ammosexual'.. there goes liberal punch words again. Ammosexual, homophobia, bigot, racist, bigot, sexist, xenophobic, bigot...

Did you know that every single person who disagrees with a liberal in the slightest is one or several of these things?

What gun control legislation could have prevented this shooting from occurring?

well, the "ammosexuals" ( :darwinsm: ) would say "the type of gun control legislation that will keep guns out of the hands of mentally unstable people who go on rampages and kill people"

of course, then you hafta consider similar knife legislation, car registration, big heavy stick legislation....

seems like we'd be better off having "mentally unstable people who go on rampages and kill people" legislation

and the anti-ammosexuals (like buzz, apparently) would say "the kind of gun control legislation that keeps guns out of everybody's hands"

ignoring the fact that this nut was stopped by a guy with a gun

The moral of story is that in America one should never take a step beyond the front door without a loaded weapon - and even that is giving the benefit of the doubt that both your spouse and family can be trusted!

The 5 GOP Presidential "hopefuls" should bring 2 loaded guns onstage for every debate - to guard against attacks from other candidates either from the "left," the "right" or both!

Oh please. I wish people had a brain around here. The gun isn't the problem the person is. He could have done the same crap with a crossbow, ore even a rock. People are evil, get over it. When there is liberty there will always be people who abuse it, this doesn't mean we get rid I've our liberty, it means we get rid of those people. This person and all others who commit mass shootings should be killed. You make penalties for gun crimes harsher you will see those crimes go down. This is just common sense.

Yea, where was the good guy with a gun? and if he/she was present he/she was derelict in their duty to put two to the chest & one right between the deranged gunman's eyes. That's right, no judge, no jury, just good ole fashioned frontier justice...end him! Given that the new Kansas law for constitutional carry (no permit to carry inside Kansas) is in effect I am sure the good citizens of Kansas will be carrying going forward, it is too bad that it took a tragedy for citizens to understand they have to protect themselves from the criminal element, law enforcement cannot always be there, it is time just to end these criminal crazy's miserable existences.

Kansas killer got guns illegally

A Newton woman was charged Friday with giving two weapons found at the scene to Ford, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said.

Sarah T. Hopkins, 28, was charged with one count of knowingly transferring a firearm to a convicted felon, Grissom announced.

A criminal complaint identified the weapons as a Zastava Serbia semiautomatic rifle -- an AK-47-style gun -- and a Glock 22 40-caliber pistol.

The complaint says the woman and Ford had a relationship at one point and she gave him the guns in August.

What gun control legislation could have prevented this shooting from occurring?

Legislation that affects behavior with the gun.

Deuteronomy 17

12 Now the man who acts presumptuously and will not heed the priest who stands to minister there before the Lord your God, or the judge, that man shall die. So you shall put away the evil from Israel. 13 And all the people shall hear and fear, and no longer act presumptuously
.

Moses is not talking about murder, but God's point remains.

How does this argument explain why Canada, which shares 5 525 miles of border with the US and strict gun laws, has far fewer gun related homicides?

Canada has 1.97 gun related deaths per 100 000 population, 0.38 (2015) of which were gun-related homicides.

Their American counterparts have 10.64 gun related deaths per 100 000 population, 3.55 (2013) of which were gun-related homicides.

That means America has 5.4 times more gun related deaths and 9.34 times more gun-related homicides.

Categories of homicides in Canada in order of importance are stabbing, shooting, beating, strangulation and fire (burns/suffocation) - crossbows and rocks don't warrant their own category.

Categories of homicides in America in order of importance are shooting (handguns, rifles, shotguns, other), stabbing, beatings, poisoning, explosives, fire, narcotics, drowning, strangulation, asphyxiation - crossbows and rocks don't warrant their own category.

Angry armed man epidemic.

"He was a mellow guy."

It seems that analysis is a mite off. For the record, he was served a violent protection order. That means he is to stay away from somebody because reasonable evidence is presented that he cannot be trusted to be civil. The order was to stay away from his former girlfriend. I would surmise he liked to slap her around when his breakfast isn't ready on time.

The last stat stands to reason, though it also is a bit sly. I mean if you're defending yourself with a gun of course your chances increase for a positive outcome. But what it doesn't actually say is that owning a gun makes you less likely to be a victim of gun violence.

Interestingly enough, as noted in a piece in the Las Angeles Times, Feb 28, 2016, Does Owning a Gun Make You Safer?, having the opportunity to defend yourself with a gun is a rarity, occurring around one percent of the time (127/14,145 incidences). The most noteworthy use of guns wasn't in personal safety, but in the protection of property, where those possessing firearms found a favorable outcome 62% of the time as opposed to 56% by those without them.

not according to anti-gun nuts

they believe that that gun will become sentient and turn on you, your family, your children, innocent bystanders...
