LA Times reports on Moral Bankruptcy of Pro-Life Industry

This is the show from Wednesday June 6th 2007.

BEST QUOTES OF THE SHOW:
The Body of Christ is being trained (by our Christian leaders, through the prolife movement) to dishonor God, to obey man rather than God and to compromise and to be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ by never calling for judges who fear God and will protect the innocent but only calling for the kind of judges who gave us the Dredd Scott decision. Original intent. Judges who are not judicial activists, judges who are strict constructionists who sentenced Dredd Scott back into slavery because they were upholding the constitution.
We are against prolife efforts that undermine personhood. And that does have a consequence in the battle to protect unborn children. And that part of the equation has never been addressed, never been addressed by the prolife industry, never been addressed.
The first baby who is killed by the authority of prolife laws when Roe v. Wade is overturned - the blood of that baby will be solely on the hands of our Christian prolife leaders.

SUMMARY:

* LA Times Reports on the Pro-Life Split: Excerpts from today's LA Times article:

-"As they gathered Tuesday for a national strategy session, antiabortion activists faced an unexpected revolt in their own ranks. ...Focus on the Family and National Right to Life are under attack from fellow activists who accuse them of turning a godly cause into a money-grubbing industry. Those groups have raised tens of millions of dollars and trumpeted victory after incremental victory..."

-But several "antiabortion groups have launched a campaign... making their position clear in full-page ads that will run in conservative publications over the next few months.

-"‘The broader movement is claiming [with the PBA Ruling] that we're saving lives, and we're not,' said Brian Rohrbough, one of the dissident activists. ‘It can't get any worse than that.' ...[T]he recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling on the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act... explicitly endorsed other methods of abortion; at one point, the justices explained that doctors could avoid prosecution by killing the fetus with a lethal injection in the womb before suctioning out its brain. To Rohrbough, president of Colorado Right to Life, that decision was nothing short of evil - an endorsement of murder. He was appalled that his fellow activists not only claimed the ruling as a victory, but also used it as a fundraising tool, appealing to donors for more money to keep the momentum going. ‘We've been promised for almost 40 years that the strategy of electing Republicans would get us a Republican Supreme Court that would end abortion, and that has not happened," Rohrbough said. "If we raise money to do the same thing over and over again we will never, ever establish personhood for all [unborn] children." The partial-birth ruling "gives us the most powerful example we've ever had of how morally bankrupt this strategy is," added the Rev. Bob Enyart, pastor of Denver Bible Church. Enyart and Rohrbough wrote a long public letter of rebuke to James Dobson... who applauded the Supreme Court decision."

-"The antiabortion absolutists... have a few big names backing them, including former Republican presidential candidate Alan Keyes [who is NOT a signer to the letter, but watch his 28-second condemnation of the PBA Ruling] and activist Judie Brown [so IS a signer] of the American Life League. ... ‘We're not finding any core, mainstream [antiabortion] groups that are anything other than political hacks.... You don't even hear these guys talking about ending abortion anymore. So you'll see our rhetoric sharpening,' said David Brownlow, who runs a shoestring lobbying group in Oregon called Life Support. Abortion-rights advocates view the splintering with some alarm: ‘It may mean we're fighting on more fronts,' said Janet Crepps, senior staff attorney at the Center for Reproductive Rights."

-"...Rohrbough's group runs on a budget of about $150,000 a year. By contrast, the National Right to Life Committee raised more than $9.7 million last year, according to Internal Revenue Service filings. Americans United for Life raised $1.9 million."

Today's Resource: Why does God forbid sexual immorality? You'll want the men in your life, husband, brother, teenage sons or grandsons, to watch this important DVD, Morality: Why God Forbids Sexual Immorality. This is Bob's most heart-rending video, telling the sad part of the story of his own life. Learn about the effects of pornography on children, and how porn can pervade a young life, in school, at camp, and sometimes even in little league. And then learn about victory, and how a man can overcome the devastation of sexual immorality.

No doubt. And if I may add:

Mr. Paul said:
Today, we are seeing a piecemeal destruction of individual freedom. And in abortion, the statists have found a most effective method of obliterating freedom: obliterating the individual. Abortion on demand is the ultimate State tyranny; the State simply declares that certain classes of human beings are not persons, and therefore not entitled to the protection of the law. The State protects the "right" of some people to kill others, just as the courts protected the "property rights" of slave masters in their slaves. Moreover, by this method the State achieves a goal common to all totalitarian regimes: it sets us against each other, so that our energies are spent in the struggle between State-created classes, rather than in freeing all individuals from the State. Unlike Nazi Germany, which forcibly sent millions to the gas chambers (as well as forcing abortion and sterilization upon many more), the new regime has enlisted the assistance of millions of people to act as its agents in carrying out a program of mass murder.

That pretty much says it all.

Ironically, the Chief Justice then, Taney, was Catholic, too.

You would think with a Catholic dominated SCOTUS we would have abortion licked soon. :sigh:
