This is what you call a butt-whoopin'.

Primarily, because he's becoming lukewarm. Those of us holding out are holding out because we want him to make good on what he said he would during the campaign. As it stands, it looks like he was trying to compromise in order to try and win over people who will hate him regardless. A fool's endeavor.

:rotfl: Luke warm...

The man is not losing support because he's becoming luke warm, you deluded, silly little man. Do you just spit out the first thought that comes to mind without actually looking into the facts?

What am I saying...of course you do. You're a lefty.

Well, let me give you some advice my soft-headed friend: Look into the approval ratings. I mean really look at them. His descent began in earnest about the time this whole public healthcare thing really got going. Highly coincidental, don't you think?

And he has slowed down on his push for his version of healthcare reform because he HAD TO. His proposal is losing support like the Titanic lost buoyancy... You're actually suggesting he do what the American public, by and large, clearly DOESN'T want him to do!

Swing voters are usually the most uninformed of the community. They don't go out of their way to investigate why they should vote for someone, and as a result, they usually tend to believe whatever bile gets thrown their way

Well...that's a pretty nebulous generalization. I'd dearly love to see you back it up with some kind of factual evidence.

...but I'm not going to hold my breath. :plain:

As it stands right now, we have idiots on the right still claiming that he's not a US citizen and the majority of them think that he's gonna kill old people.

I'm not sure it's the majority, but they're not too far off the mark, in reality. Every nationalized healthcare system participates in rationing to some extent out of necessity. Why do you suppose Obama's will be any different? :idunno:

Now, Conservatives may not be bright, but they sure are loud as all hell.

We've had 8 years to learn from the best. And though we'll never quite match the shrill, empty headed timbre of our role models on the left, we're doing our best to put on a good show! :thumb:

So it's pretty obvious that their voices are getting heard over everyone else's, despite their lack of proof, logic or reasoning
.

Or, in many cases, because of it.

The majority of Bush's attacks were indeed personal, I'll admit. But it's kind've hard to avoid. I mean, look at him. He's a putz.

And yet you people positively faun over the likes of Michael Moore, Al Gore, and Nancy Pelosi, not to mention Al Franken and Barney Frank. Don't talk to me about Putzes, Gobbo.

You people have a stable full of 'em. :freak:

But that's not to say that there weren't strong reasons to be against him politically. The Patriot Act?

 How's Obama on that one? Oh, yes...there was news today of extending it's provisions on his watch. Interesting.

Admittedly said news was hard to find, but if you can get around the bias...it's out there.

Waterboarding?

If it keeps out citizens from being killed by Islamist **** roaches, I'm all for it.

Gitmo has already been shown to be a red herring. Obama proposes to bring these maniacs to the states. That'll be MUCH better

Blowing off the United Nations?

One of the ONLY policies of the Bush administration that I truly got behind. The UN is an irrelevant and impotent joke. Anyone with half an ounce of sense can see that.

Lack of environmental concern?

Cap and Trade will be soooo much better. I know I'm looking forward to what amounts to the largest new tax in our nation's history...how about you?

There are a lot of reasons to go around
.

And yet the one you and all the lefties focused on was: He's a putz.

And now you expect to be taken seriously ask you wax all sanctimonious. Give me a break.

Freedom of Speech = American. I'll call people on the right idiots anyday of the week, but their freedom to say such stupidity is DEFINITELY American. I'd never question their devotion to the country. They're complaining because they're loyal to America and want to see it go in a direction that they're keen on (rather than moving somewhere else). So watch who you call un-American. Because that's just rude.

And yet, according to you, it's as American as it comes, no?

No they just seem to have the majority in the right.

:rotfl:....:plain:.....:rotfl:

For a second there I thought you were joking...but it's so much funnier to know you're serious.

And both of those would've happened regardless of who got elected

You're wrong about that. But again, feel free to back up your assertion with fact. I've got all night. :thumb:

Could you please elaborate on these? I'd like to know more...

Sure, I'll take 'em in order:

  • Obama has his team working on strategies to pass his healthcare reform unconventionally, using rarely utilized rules of legislation allowing it to be passed with simple majority rather than the more typical requirements. He's doing this because he doesn't have adequate support for his plan, and now, it would seem, he may even lose simple majority.
  • The list of lies is too long to post here because virtually everything the man says is a lie. But we could mention coverage for illegals, the resultant cost, not pushing for a single payer, providing merely the option of a public plan, the massive new tax that will become effective at the passage of cap and trade, etc. etc.
  • The Internet Kill Switch
  • On Not Wasting a Good Crisis

I know, you're shocked. I can actually back up my assertions. Funny, that. :plain:

I can even give you video:

Never Let a Serious Crisis Go To Waste

Jeez, you people and the word "socialist". You love to throw it around. News Flash: Every modern democracy has quasi-Socialistic policies in effect already. Including us. And they've been in place for DECADES, at least

And I don't like them. And neither do many conservatives. And that's hardly an argument for increased socialistic tendencies.

What do you call public schools?

A failure and a national disaster. What do you call them?

Libraries?

Libraries are not socialist. They do not redistribute wealth and they aren't designed to benefit the underprivileged at the expense of those with greater means.

Public transit? What do you call the Fire Department?

Again, you clearly don't understand the meaning of the term, "socialist"

Medicare (you really think private insurance would ever cover people in the age demographic where MOST hospital related incidents occur?)?

Another great example of a failed system. You can lump Social Security in there too. They're a disgusting mess and their cost is astronomical.

All of these work the same way that universal healthcare would

Which is exactly the argument the right is trying to make.

Paid for by the populace and not taken advantage of by everyone. Without them however, we'd be in utter chaos.

Or we'd have to improve upon them. Necessity is the mother of ingenuity.

If he was truly pushing for it, we'd already be well on our way by now.

Wow...where have you been? We WERE well on our way, sparky. Then people started getting wind of what it actually meant and support started vacating as quickly as it could. The exodus continues.

He's trying to show the right what he's doing in order to stop them from spewing their bullcrap. It won't work. He's just taking longer to realize it.

Dude, you can't be that stupid. You really think he's stalled because he's being sympathetic to the right? :squint:

Have you taken your vitamins today?

Obama on Single Payer

As it stands, we're slowly falling from that pedestal. Countries positioned in passing us in various areas all have what you would call "leftist" views.

Now it's your turn to elaborate. Who is positioned to "pass" us and in what way are they going to accomplish this?

And you say the Right isn't conservative enough? Just how mental do you think they should be? o_O;;

I'd like to see them about as mental as Reagan. :thumb:

Yeah, you really don't know much about the insurance business, do you? I work in it.

Me too. For almost 15 years. I'm an LUTCF and a CPCU. I also maintain a number of financial designations so I understand the profitability side of the equation as well.

Your turn for credentials.

The way some of these companies are run is horrid.

You could say that about any industry. And yet, by and large, those problems are sorted out competitively.

In addition to not covering people when they're most likely to get sick or injured (ie: 65 and up), they focus primarily on trying to get out of covering stuff that they claim to advocate

Ever try to buy auto insurance at the site of an accident? Life insurance on a deceased relative? Homeowner's insurance as your house burns to the ground?

It seems to me that I'm not the one who seems to be lacking in the insurance industry knowledge department...

Look, I agree that the ugly truth is that insurance companies exist for shareholders and not for the insured. I simply think that regulation and reform of the private system makes far more sense than the creation of a public system.

Especially when viewed in light of such systems as the VA, medicare/medicaid, and Social Security, among others. This is a classic case of the cure threatening to be much worse than the disease.

The average Insurance provider has a SWAT team of lawyers at their beckoned call, ready to tear ANY claim apart, just so they can stay in the black.

And yet polls show that the average insured is quite content with his coverage. Odd, that.

That's what enterprise gets you. Respect not to your clients, but to the almighty dollar.

In certain states, you can choose from as few as two available insurance carriers. Open that up to the 3,000 or so nationwide and see how fast insurers grow some respect for their clientele. ;)

And as far as I'm concerned, US Citizens' health shouldn't have to bend to the will of Capitalism.

And as for me, I don't feel it should have to bend to the will and the efficiency of the federal government. You?

There's a reason why a lot of these right wing "freedom brigade" town hall screamers and protesters are funded by corporations. It's because they know that soon, they won't have as much power as they use to in this country and that makes them frightened.

Really? What's their excuse when they fund the left? :idunno:

Because they know that at the end of the day, their revenue's gonna suffer. And it should for as much manipulation goes on in this country.

See, what you goofy lefties don't seem to understand is that these corporations that are so evil aren't some nebulous, "other." They're made up of Americans, like you and me. And when they suffer, so do those Americans.

I'm sure you're glad those evil bankers and financial types got what they deserved over these past two years, aren't you?

Good thing no one else had to suffer for them to get what they had coming...

In order for us to wait and see how "detrimental" these policies are, they have to actually pass.

The bailouts did pass. And I was referring specifically to them.

And you've yet to actually name a real freedom lost

That, or you fail to understand the meaning of the word, "freedom."

What's something that you can't do anymore, that you were able to do last year (other than get gay married in California)??

Why not ask your kids in about 15 years. They'll be the ones paying the bill.

According to most other services in the world, we don't have the best healthcare system. We're like #8, if I recall correctly. The countries in front of us? Universal.

Not in what matters to us. Go back and take a closer look at the breakdown, gobbo. You'll be surprised at what you find, I assure you.

In the meantime, think about this: What other country do people travel to from all over the world to obtain the best care?

Get back to me when you're ready.

Show us in the Constitution exactly what policies Obama's enacting that go against it, please. And explain how they go against it.

Let's see what Obama has to say regarding the document he's sworn to protect:

Obama, on the constitution
