Hello,

So I'm posting here because I'm interested in issues like ...

Theology vs Apologetics
Reason vs Faith
Honour vs Hypocrisy

... and because I like to argue.

So, without further ado: the best match for "it is written" of Luke 24:46 is Hosea 6:2.

Luke 24
44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

Hosea 6
2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

Hello,

Theology vs Apologetics
Is it a vs though, really?

Reason vs Faith
Same question. Or, how do you mean reason vs faith? Is it your contention that they're a) mutually exclusive, or b) at least inherently hostile to one another, or c) that they are two different means to approach and/or receive truth and you're interested in examining their utility?

Honour vs Hypocrisy
I'm even more curious about the context for this one.

... and because I like to argue.
Can be a good bit of fun and, on occasion edifying. Welcome aboard. :L)

All things or some things? (tips hat)

Hi TH, thanks for the welcome.

Is it a vs though, really?
It can be. Apologetics is a lot like political reasoning. You know what your conclusion is and you select arguments to support that. Those arguments can be theological ones or they can be fallacies, it doesn't matter because the purpose of apologetics is to defend a position. Theology is a tool that can be used to acquire knowledge, but like most things your motivation shapes what it gives to you. For your answer the acid test is whether or not you have to resort to fallacies to defend your position.

Same question. Or, how do you mean reason vs faith? Is it your contention that they're a) mutually exclusive, or b) at least inherently hostile to one another, or c) that they are two different means to approach and/or receive truth and you're interested in examining their utility?
They're different in the sense that faith is based on our model of reality, but reason is based on our knowledge of the laws that govern reality.
The Bible typically both treats faith and reason in a positive light, so in that context they aren't hostile toward each other. For faith to be a path to truth you've got to have a reliable source, but for reason to be a path to truth all that's required is a large enough factual context.

I'm even more curious about the context for this one.
The textual context is the hypocrisy of the Pharisees and it's innate conflict with the idealism of the Messiah. Hypocrisy is a lot like fraud, it's inherently repugnant. More generally the conflict is reflected in social systems like governments which don't deliver what they promise or what their rhetoric implies.

All things or some things? (tips hat)
The text says all things and the Messiah was an advocate of perfection so if not, why not? Hosea 6:2 is about Ephraim and the house of Judah.
