What does that mean for the Trillion dollar deficits in 2009 ($1.4T -- Bush proposed but Congress rejected it...Obama signed it after adding $250B for economic stimulus) and 2010 ($1.3T) when the Democrats had all three? Obama also ran Trillion dollar imbalances in 2011 ($1.3T) and 2013 ($1.1T) after the Republicans took back the house.
Of note, Clinton had some of the best budgets in recent memory - $236B in 2000 and a debt paydown of $360B - but that was largely due to a Republican congress holding his feet to the fire.
Less deficit than projected and smaller budget than Obama's last.

So Democratic President, Republican Congress, Congress keeps the President under control, because, well because we all know that Republicans are concerned about government spending. But a Republican president and a Republican Congress and all bets are off? Sorry, someone needs to explain that to me.
Is a smaller budget not a win?
He bumped up Defense, Veterans affairs, and Homeland security. He cut every thing else, pretty much a wash.

When the Obama Administration was dramatically increasing the federal debt to soften the impact of the 2008 Recession, the Republicans cried "foul," - fast forward 10 years and those same Republican politicians want to portray the introduction of a $ trillion deficit, during good economic times, as a "WIN!"

I guess they thought Trump would instantly be able to go back to whatever year they thought was the best and run the government on that.
Being a Super Power is expensive and Trump wants to "Straighten Out" Iran and North Korea. Looks like he might just push the rope up the hill a little bit with North Korea at low cost thru his Bromance with Kim But we'll see.
Iran might need a good thrashing and that's what he's building up for.

Like any of that is some new trait on either side of this perpetual experience being rehashed for this Pavlov trained populace, bring back the hanging Chad at least it was entertaining.
America already spends far more on its military than all her adversaries combined - can additional investments to finance more and more weapons systems be justified given that the nation faces so many other challenges that need to be addressed!
