A helicopter parent is a parent who hovers around his/her children to make sure the kids make no mistakes, don't get hurt, take no responsibility for their actions, etc.... This is what the Fed has become to investors, especially large investors. It continually hovers over them to make sure they don't lose money. This causes investors to take more and more outlandish risks as they know they will not pay the penalties for taking highly speculative risks. It's become the only way to really create wealth anymore, and the Fed and Treasure department are all in on this. It's why the top few percentage points people with very high incomes keep on increasing their wealth while the middle income and lower income keep on losing ground. It always happens in socialism as the politicians and their rich business buddies always scratch each other's backs and ignore the little people.
