Our responsibility to love those who God loves does not stop just because it is inconvenient or hard. A nation is composed of people and according to many this is a "Christian nation." So it should be conducted the same as an individual conducts genuine Christianity. Refuse violence. Refuse hatred. Love one another even if you suffer and die personally. That's the attitude the early martyrs took.
Where does Christ say serve in the military, defend our nation and kill our enemy. He said love the enemy not murder them.

KNIGHT'S RESPONSE:

Our responsibility is not to the world system and nations but to the Kingdom of love, joy. peace, patience, meekness, humility etc etc.

God teaches us how we should act individually and He also teaches us how we should act governmentally.

God does not teach that governments should "turn the other cheek".

Instead God teaches us that government should act as His minister to inflict wrath on the wicked.

Romans 13:3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. 4 For he (government) is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he (government) does not bear the sword in vain; for he (government) is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.

Christian pacifists confuse God's instruction to individuals with God's instruction for governments.

Therefore... as a general rule Christians should not take the law into their own hands, instead they should turn the other cheek and give place to wrath. That "place" is with government which is (or should be) God's minister to avenge and execute those who practice evil.
