    The Spiritually Dead

You mean some gospel you made up and stand by because the Bible doesn’t mention it positively or negatively? Like pink elephants flying? Maybe you can refute flying pink elephants from scripture. Otherwise it must be part of the gospel, right?

    The Spiritually Dead

As have I. But we’re supposed to be ready to give an answer for the hope that is within us. Where does this answer come from? How do you try the spirits? Aren’t both from the scriptures?

    The Spiritually Dead

Keep in mind, @Robert Pate, that I disagree with @Right Divider on a number of things. I don’t think his style is any more or less childish than yours. But if you use the absence of evidence as positive affirmation, there’s no way you’ll end up with proper doctrine. Even in disagreement, I can...

    The Spiritually Dead

What you’re saying is that as long as scripture doesn’t specifically deny something, then that something is true. What @Right Divider is saying is that if scripture doesn’t specifically support something, that something may be false. Here’s an example: “pink elephants can fly.” With your...

    The Spiritually Dead

You’re beyond what scripture says, and into false doctrine.

    The Spiritually Dead

Then why couldn’t man be the same—created good, and then became evil? Why would man need to be filled with Satan’s spirit from birth to be evil?

Whose sinful nature did Satan inherit?

    The Spiritually Dead

Yes, there’s evil in the world, because people have a tendency toward evil. They are in bondage to sin. Hebrews says it’s because of the fear of death, as I pointed out before.

    The Spiritually Dead

What exactly is a “spirit” that someone is born with? Surely you’re not saying everyone is born possessed by Satan?

    The Spiritually Dead

Everyone is born assured of death. The only hope they have is Jesus Christ, who raises people from the dead. If they had no spirit, how could they be alive when born? It’s the fear of death that keeps people in bondage to sin: Hebrews 2:15 (NKJV) and release those who through fear of death were...

    The Spiritually Dead

So now you’re saying he starts out dead, dies again, then is resurrected and will die again.

    The Spiritually Dead

Absolutely! And both include the physical body. So why do you feel the need to insert “spiritual” next to death?

    The Spiritually Dead

And if the wages of sin is death, God would be unjust to punish people twice for the same crime. So they are being punished by the lake of fire for a different crime. Do you know what it is?

    The Spiritually Dead

You’re right that the second death is the lake of fire, but it’s a second physical death, as people that experience it are first resurrected. John 5:29 (NKJV) “and come forth--those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

    The Spiritually Dead

Notice how you have to keep putting “spiritual” before death for it to make sense? Why is that? Salvation results in eternal life, at least part of it does. But that’s because we are resurrected from the first death, and protected from the second. Revelation 2:11 (NKJV) “He who has an ear...

But to what end? Life after death.

    The Spiritually Dead

Faith in what? It wasn’t faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus, but in a future, somewhat muddy, belief in their own resurrection by God’s promise way back in Gen 3:15 and the promises made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and through the symbols in Moses’ writings.

    The Spiritually Dead

That’s the predominant thought, at least in the evangelical world today. But I’m offering a different option. Much of the things Paul talked about with regard to our salvation were hopes of something happening in the future. We can be assured, for instance, that we will be resurrected and...
