    On the omniscience of God

Soul is not the same as mind. When God breathed into man the breath of life, he became a living soul. When the breath of life leaves us, we die and return to dust. The "soul" appears to be the whole man, at least in Genesis 2. If we are able to create a being that has a mind and body and lives...

    Hymn Lyrics

I remember. It's "To God Be the Glory". There's a line that says, "Who opened the lifegate that all may go in." Thay changed it to read, "Who opened the lifegate that we may go in."

    Hymn Lyrics

We have some hymnals from a Calvinist church we used to attend. Some of the hymns have different words to make them fit Calvinist doctrine better, but most are the same. I'll go look up one I'm thinking of.

HI Michael. I think I remember you. You are supposedly one of the two witnesses of Revelation.

A missing Link to Genesis 1:6 God said, “I command a dome to separate the water above it from the water below it.”

I didn't. You did. "Author" can mean creator or explainer in words. Moses was the author of Genesis, God was the author (by inspiration) of the words and the author of the heavens and earth. "Author of confusion" is about how things are supposed to be done in the church, and applies more to...

New look days of Noah and the sons of God

The problem with all of this is that you are arguing against Jesus. He gave us an exact interpretation of Ps 82, and it doesn't fit what you are saying. John 10:33-36 KJV — The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man...

A missing Link to Genesis 1:6 God said, “I command a dome to separate the water above it from the water below it.”

No. I'm talking about God's description of His creative work, that if He calls earth "heaven" then calls the sky and outerspace "heaven", and the calls the dry land "earth", it's confusing to the reader. 🤷‍♂️ I'm not using "author" here as "creator of physical things" but as "giver of the word".

I wonder if you misunderstood @Shasta's intent. You might want to reread his post more carefully, as I had to.

A missing Link to Genesis 1:6 God said, “I command a dome to separate the water above it from the water below it.”

I don't think your appeal to Occam's Razor works that way in creation. We don't really know what simpler vs more complex means when creating something from nothing and setting up the universe. My point is that God is creating a world that works, not one that doesn't. And it works specifically...

A missing Link to Genesis 1:6 God said, “I command a dome to separate the water above it from the water below it.”

Plain reading works against you for the "Heaven" vs "the heavens" discussion. we're both still trying to figure out how it makes the best sense, and "plain reading" isn't sufficient. I know that you distinguish "the heavens" and "Heaven", but can you really say that about "the earth" and...

I agree with you in all that, including the "meaning" of sovereignty according to reformed thought. But I disagree with their meaning of "sovereignty".

    On the omniscience of God

When God created the heavens and the earth, and Adam, the first man, was it new to God? If NEW to God, then God must have done something new, so your point is moot. I have an innie, so a bump would be new, to me and to God. I haven't ever had such a bump on my belly. Yes, and no. Legos are new...

    On the omniscience of God

I'll not go point-by point, but address your first and last points about the definition of "new". So, I think I gave you a precise definition, by example, of "new". Bricks are not new, Legos are (a "new" type of brick). Words and notes are not new, but the patterns of words and notes together...

    On the omniscience of God

Yet I built a new house. The concept of a house is not new, but each house is new. Sometimes concepts that are not necessarily new are realized fir the first time, like airplanes. The concept of flying is not new, but powered human flight put it in practice. Each new airplane design is something...

    On the omniscience of God

Yes, but God didn't design and build everything that might be built with His Lego-atoms. He didn't already have in His store-houses of snow every snow fort or snowman every child would fashion. God might have conceived of a building system for kids like Legos, but a man invented that particular...

    On the omniscience of God

Yes, just like building a bridge is a warping of what exists. It is designed to fulfill a purpose using materials God made available. Nuclear bombs are a warping of what exists, designed to fulfill a purpose using materials God made available. I don't think Tacoma Narrows Bridge was an entity...
