    The Joys of Catholicism

Just listened to this--Dr Flowers is a favorite of mine, but this is the first time I've heard him address this issue. Well done, imo.

    The Problem With Prayer

Is that wrong for a creator to destroy some parts of His creation? If so, how did you determine that such is wrong? Does God need an excuse to destroy His creations? Why? Why? Are you saying Putin has the same position with respect to those children that God has to all people? Which doesn't...

    The Problem With Prayer

I can barely begin to guess. Perhaps He assigns such mundane tasks as hair numbering to angels, who report to Him on occasion. Nobody (except @Lon) said it was a constant knowledge thing. It is only inane if we say Jesus was merely exaggerating for effect. He did that sometimes, like when He...

    The Problem With Prayer

By the way, Lon, it doesn't say that God "knows" the number, but that He "numbers" them, or "counts" in a few translations. He is active in the knowing. It isn't something He always knew from before the foundation of the world, how many hairs you and I would have at any particular time.

    The Plot by Bob Enyart

If Rome is correct, then it is certainly possible, even if others think otherwise. Our thinking on the results of what you might call mortal sins doesn't change the nature of the punishment. So you're saying it's the belief, not the truth that matters? So why would anyone ever want to stay a...

    Occasional-ism “a non-Deistic understanding of the World”

Not really at issue, since they are all three mentioned in both. What about the plural pronoun usage ("your") with singular body soul and mind? Is it possible the admonition is written not to individuals, but to the church as a corporate body, with a corporate soul (entity) and a corporate...

    Occasional-ism “a non-Deistic understanding of the World”

Disabled people exhibit effects of the fall in a continuum ending in death. Jess said if your eye or hand offend, pluck it out or cut it off. Paul said to mortify your members. A disabled person has some part(s) of his body already mortified. So if his soul is the same as a whole person (not yet...

    Occasional-ism “a non-Deistic understanding of the World”

I think the "Him" in vs 16 is mis-capitalized. It seems to refer to the man who is spiritual from vs 15. Do you think God removed His sustaining power at the time of the Flood?

What did you believe before Open Theism?

Nobody in Christian doctrinal circles doesn't believe their doctrine comes from scripture. Nobody. That includes trinitarians and non-trinitarians alike. In line with scripture? And are you talking about my side questions? I'm happy to talk about them, but it's definitely rabbit trail territory...

    Occasional-ism “a non-Deistic understanding of the World”

Agreed, but my statement stands. With both of us having a verse to back up our position, then we need to figure out how to make them both work in our understanding of the passages. What's your suggestion?

    Occasional-ism “a non-Deistic understanding of the World”

Ours souls are bipartite, comprising body and breath (spirit). Genesis 2:7 KJV — And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

    Do they see us?

They witness to us, not witness us doing things. In other words, their lives are a testimony of faith to encourage us to have like faith.
