Russian President Vladimir Putin has given several explanations for his country's war ... stopping NATO's advance towards Russia's borders, protecting fellow Russians from "genocide" or the baseless claim of "de-Nazifying" Ukraine.

The top-ranking priest in the Russian Orthodox Church, meanwhile, has offered a very different reason for the invasion: gay pride parades.

I agree with Putin on one of those. Ukraine should rid itself of all the Nazis.

Funny thing is, I'm pretty sure they did that back in 1945.

This is a great reason why to choose the Catholic Church over the eastern Orthodox. The Orthodox are very nationalistic, divided by national boundaries. There really is no place for that in the Church. God is above such things.

In the Catholic Church nationalities are kept down where they belong, matters of styles of music and art in churches and at Mass, things that the people can relate too, but not at the very top.

I believe in One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.
The Eastern Orthodox fall down on the first and third, "marks of the Church". As you say, they are frequently “ nationalistic, divided by national boundaries ”. That's not "Catholic", which means universal and global, a Church without borders. "One"-ness also is violated frequently by the EOs in their constant schisms between different patriarchates. If you take the EO communions as a whole, they're in a virtually constant state of schism with each other.

Eastern Orthodox are far closer to Biblically grounded than Roman Catholic.
