Ahhhh.... breathing implies a body to me. Do angels breath in heaven or just on earth? We know they can breath as they sing on earth sometimes.
Well, I don't know if what I am about to write applies to angels. I'm not much up on studying angels. Yet I think it will apply to mankind and God; so, here goes:
I consider a lot about symbolism when I read. Although I do take the Bible literally I still think there are deeper things to be see if we figure out the keys. One quick example was when I began to consider what it meant by Adams body being form from the ground. I asked What is group and what are other terms that could be used to describe it. I came up with - ground is made up of specific elements within our world; so, when God cursed those elements it brought death into the bodies of humanity. Not instant for God said we would partake of those cursed elements for the rest of our lives. So far that has held true.
So, what do I think about a breath? Well, a breath is made up of wind certain particulates and moisture! pondering in this manner caused me to remember that Our Lord Jesus breathe the Holy Spirit upon his chosen disciples and apostles. What happened ... what difference did that make?
I began to piece symbolic references together.
1.) WATER:
I learned from the
woman at the well event that Jesus was talking about his having additional water to give her where she would never thirst again ... and then concluded that this additional measure of
moisture/water he had would giver her immortality.
Finally concluding: THAT original BREATH given unto mankind on the 7th day already had something alive within it. What was that LIFE? My Ans: God was actually imparting the two living persons called male and female into that created body. HE had already created male and female within HIMSELF. No one was there to see them for like God they were invisible but in HIM and with HIM. They already had a measure of life while still within HIS Spiritual Essence. It was they who were imparted into a visible body with THAT original BREATH.
But that's not all.
2.) WIND:
Jesus taught that
being born of the Spirit is like this: The
wind bloweth where it listeth and thou hearest the sound there of, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. Well, that means born again believers can't see the Spirit of God which enters in us but we are able to hear from The unseen SPIRIT OF God. Now, if we consider that male and female were born the first time by God imparting THAT BREATH, which was wind and moisture ... then it was God's Spiritual power that imparted the living essence unto that first body.
But a breath is more than wind and water. There are particulates within it.
3.) Particulates: So far I have covered Power and measures of Life in THAT BREATH ... but the particulates could be other things God was giving male and female as they went from spiritual beings into visible earthly bound creatures. These may have been abilities we would soon need ... like the conditions for seeing and hearing ... what ever functions. Of course, I'm guess here for I have not found a symbolic reference yet in the NT. But Jesus did show how he formed eyeballs for a man who had had not functioning eyeball since birth. That showed me there had to be links made between ones brain and the appropriate body part before he could see. Jesus proved he was God the Creator just by forming the man some eyeballs and then allowing him to see. BTW, This alone proved Jesus was God. Watch: Jesus used the ground (particular elements of creation) and formed eyeballs. Plus he used his own spital (moisture of life from God) unto those eyes.
But I think you will find this last point interesting: God caused moisture (a measure of life) to come upon the ground (certain elements of creation) before he formed the body of Adam out of those elements. God gave the body its own measure of life!!! separate from the already living spiritual male and female. Humans were not a completed soul until Spiritual life was imparted into bodily life. This is why Jesus compared the WATER (H2O) which the woman needed as a mortal to sustain her bodily life ... with the additional water (life) he had to offer her. The life in her body would one day die due to the curse upon the ground (those elements from which it had come) and it would return to dust (elements of her body with no life).
From this study and another place I also learned how God gives things of himself in measures. I have concluded man was not a soul until the parts were put together ... The living spiritual essence of male and female added to a the living body.
spirit +body + living soul.
I hope this was not too long or uninteresting. Some say I write too much.
