If the top 5 demon rat controlled cities was removed from the gun violence list the US would be 4th from the bottom of gun related deaths.

Researching 30-06, wondered if anybody was making a AR platform 30-06 and came across this. Noreen. Really impressive recoil management.

From what I have read it looks like in the beginning Noreen BN 36 had problems with the feed ramps , but it appears they got ahead of that problem.

Looking forward in the near future to getting some military rifles, antiques.
The M1 Garand and the 03 Springfield are both 30-06. It's a popular hunting round, but I don't hunt. It's much more powerful than the standard AR-15 cartridge and the standard AK-47 cartridge.

And both the Garand and the 03 Springfield are legal in New York State. 😁

:cool: .30-06 Springfield, while being a wonderful round in it's own right, has been eclipsed by the more powerful .300WSM & the flatter shooting .308 Winchester....Now, it's pretty much relegated to the ash-heap of history in regards to being "popular".
Still a good choice IMHO...Once you get your ranges and elevations dialed in it can really reach out there....Great hunting round, I doubt there is anything in the lower 48 that you can't take with it. And you can't beat it for knocking shooty 😁 holes through concrete block walls if you need to get to someone on the other side.

One thing I will toss out there though....The Garand and the 1903 are not early "assault rifles"....They are a weapon which has left the scene of warfare due to it's ever changing nature.
They are "Battle Rifles"...Intended to be used to counter lances and swords at close range as well as lob bullets 800 yards across no-mans land.

Warfare changed with the advent of the STG44 (The first actual "Assault Rifle": Sturmgewehr 1944 - Storming Rifle model of 1944) the lower power round it uses is to provide rifle like performance in a sub-machine gun type package.

In between the Garand they (U.S.) tried the M-14 which would have been innovative and highly serviceable during WW2 & Korea as a Battle Rifle but the extra weight of the .308 Win. round combined with the higher power of an actual rifle round (impossible to fire full auto and hit anything) created instead an idiots answer to the "assault rifle".
The AK-47 was a better weapon for modern warfare and the M-16 had some growing pains to get through before it could be appreciated.

...But that's a different story.

I was a civilian contractor to both Iraq and Afghanistan between 2004 and 2011. It was known by both Marines and soldiers that the 5.56 was more of a liability than an asset in Afghanistan. The Taliban would try to start engagements between 800 and a 1000 meters which made the over rated 5.56 all but useless when fired from the 16” bbl. M4’s. If it wasn’t for crew serve weapons we would have lost most engagements fought at 800 to 1000 meters. The glorified 22 has its place but it isn’t even close to a better round than the 7.62x51 or the 30-06. Thank God for the Air Force and crew serve weapons.

I don't recall setting a value judgment on any of the above rounds...The fact that the 5.56 is being used for long range engagement is no more of proof of it's inferiority than the .308 being used as an "assault rifle round" proves it's inferiority.

You're entire argument is that fish are useless because they can't climb trees.

This place is beginning to bore me again....Perhaps you have some wisdom from your years of driving cars you would like me to apply to motorcycle riding as well? :rolleyes:

Lol, nope just stating facts the Army nor the Marine Corps wanted the M16 they both knew the 30 cal. round is far superior to the glorified .22 round, but of course the politicians(gag) always want cheaper so it was a political decision not a military decision to go with the M16.The entire argument was that the 5.56 is a sub standard round for a military round. Will it kill of course it will kill, but so will a pellet gun.

The card under discussion has printed on it the exact dimensions of a part which, once machined and inserted into an AR-15, will convert it into a full auto. This information is readily available on the internet, as the commentator shares, it is easily done with a bent hacksaw blade. But the ATF draws the line at this, and calls this credit card size piece of metal with some ink on it "a machine gun".

Not guns but as close as you can come in Britain.

I have a small collection of folding knives, most of them have either a lock back or a liner lock, locking mechanism. Most of them also have a spring assist opening mechanism, which (probably) doesn't make them illegal in New York State. But in Britain they would be defined as switchblades, and thus illegal.

And all of them with lockbacks, which is so universal that my Scout knife had one when I was a kid, would also be illegal in Britain.
