I agree, I never looked at it as a substitute, but that is because I do not cuss. I do understand Knight's decision though...it was a good one.

Is there already a comprehensive definition of "spam" as it applies here on TOL?

I recently got "infracted" for it, and want to be sure what I did wrong.

You should ask the person who gave you the infraction via a PM.

I would like some clarity of name calling; while cuss words are self evident peccadilloes and derogatory words directed at someone is an obvious offense, what about common descriptors, which are less than derogatory?

Such as calling someone who keeps dogging one about a subject she or he feels has been addressed, can I call them a pest?

My definition of a pest is beguine, meaning an annoyance.

            What about goof or goofball?

My definition of these terms applies to anyone who I think is acting inappropriate in a silly way.

The same with monkying around or any derivate of monkey behavior, never is it intended to mean anything to do with evolution, or degeneracy
Also nutty, as in “your are really being nutty now” means the same as crazy.

My definition of crazy and nutty is a subjective perception of inappropriate bizarre behavior.

This covers all I say that might be out of bounds; I never had problems with it before and my guess it that it should be fine here.

I do think calling someone ignorant or stupid is uncalled for and is hostile speech, more so, bad manners.

No need to respond, I know you are busy, so I will take a non-response as meaning things are copasetic
            So, what?

            believe it!

Thou SHALL NOT be intentionally blasphemous or unnecessarily disruptive. We will ban you if you are presenting yourself as an unneeded distraction (yes this is subjective - live with it).
If I may say so, virtually anything posters such as myself say regarding our disbelief in God is typically considered blaspheme by the Christian population (as well as by your statement of faith, via implication), and therefore you are basically prohibiting any argument from many of us.
              Just saying.

I think if you look around you will find that to not be the case.

Basically what this rule states is we are not going to allow people to say outlandish things like.... "Jesus was gay", or similar vulgar comments.

Excuse me? There is legitimate argument for the homosexuality of Christ (I don't believe it personally, but that's irrelevant), and I have seen very interesting, genuine discussions over the subject in the past. You forget that there are a great deal of modern Christians who do not consider homosexuality to be sinful, and therefore they take no offense to the notion of a gay Jesus.
                  Again, just saying.

                  EDIT:
Unless, of course, you meant to refer to the term "gay" being used improperly as a derogatory insult. If that is the case, then I wholeheartedly agree, and I ask that you please ignore my above post.

                    Good for you.

Would you like a door prize?

Is that a prize he gets on his way out the door?

How long do infractions stay with you?
If you have material wealth, but do not give to those in need, then the love of God is not in you. Whatever you have done for the least of these you have done for HIM. To give to the poor is to lend to the LORD.

Are you suggesting that any argument questioning the existence of God MUST contain slurs and insults?
