  • Praise the Lord!

    There is no new thing under the sun.
    Ecclesiastes 1:9

    Some Heart Has Gone This Way Before

    Tho’ rough may be thy path, and long,
    Remember! that with grief as sore,
    And burdens larger far than thine,
    Some heart has gone this way before.

    Tho’ dark may be the gath’ring night;
    Tho’ loud and long the storm may roar;
    Take courage! thou art not the first,
    Some heart has gone this way before.

    Some heart has gone this way before,
    Some feet have scaled this dizzy height;
    Some yearning eyes have pierced the gloom,
    And seen the dawn of Heaven’s light.

    So thou, dear pilgrim, too, canst go;
    Some day thy trials will be o’er;
    For unto rest and peace beyond,
    Some heart has gone this way before.

    Trust then in Christ! His arm will guide
    Each faithful one thro’ Jordan’s tide;
    Hope on! the race will soon be past
    And victory will come at last.

    The days of the years of my pilgrimage.
    Genesis 47:9

    When My Pilgrimage Is Finished Here

    When my pilgrimage is finished here,
    And I am troubled by grief and despair,
    Grace never failing awaits me on the other side;
    When I have traveled the way with my Lord,
    Counting the mileposts by faith in His Word,
    Living and dying with Him by my side,
    Sheltered above by His infinite love,
    Praise the Lord! With Jesus I shall abide.

    • Praise the Lord!

      While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen.
      For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

      2 Corinthians 4:18

      O Jesus Savior, Friend Unseen

      O Jesus Savior, friend unseen,
      The faint, the weak on Thee may lean,
      Help me, throughout life’s varying scene,
      By faith to cling to Thee.
      Blessed with this fellowship divine,
      Take what Thou wilt, I’ll ne’er repine;
      E’en as the branches to the vine,
      My soul would cling to Thee.

      Far from home, fatigued, oppressed,
      My soul has found that place of rest
      An exile still, yet not unblest,
      While still and will cling to Thee.
      What though the world deceitful prove,
      And earthly friends and joys remove,
      With patient, uncomplaining love
      Still would I cling to Thee.

      Though faith and hope may long be tried,
      I ask not, need not aught beside;
      How safe, how calm, how satisfied,
      The souls that cling to Thee!
      Blessed is my lot, whate’er befall;
      What can disturb me, who appall,
      While as my strength, my rock, my all,
      All, Savior, I cling to Thee!

      For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face.
      Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

      1 Corinthians 13:12

      Face to Face With Christ My Savior

      Face to face with Christ, my Savior, face to face what will it be,
      When with rapture I behold Him, Jesus Christ who died for me?
      Face to face oh, blissful moment! Face to face to see and know;
      Face to face with my Redeemer, Jesus Christ who loves me so.
      Face to face I shall behold Him, far beyond the starry sky;
      Face to face in all His glory, I shall see Him by and by!

      • Praise the Lord!

        Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity.
        Amen.

        Ephesians 6:24

        More Love to Thee, O Christ

        More love to Thee, O Christ, more love to Thee!
        Hear Thou the prayer I make on bended knee.
        This is my earnest plea: More love, O Christ, to Thee;
        Once earthly joy I craved, sought peace and rest;
        Now Thee alone I seek, give what is best,
        This all my prayer shall be: More love, O Christ to Thee;
        More love to Thee, more love to Thee!

        Let sorrow do its work, come grief or pain;
        Sweet are Thy messengers, sweet their refrain,
        When they can sing with me: More love, O Christ, to Thee;
        Then shall my latest breath whisper Thy praise;
        This be the parting cry my heart shall raise,
        This still its prayer shall be: More love, O Christ to Thee;
        More love to Thee, more love to Thee!

        Because He first loved us.
        1 John 4:19

        O How I Love Jesus

        There is a name I love to hear, I love to sing its worth,
        It sounds like music in my ear, the sweetest name on earth.
        It tells me of a Savior’s love, who died to set me free,
        And of His precious blood, the sinner’s perfect plea.
        Of One whose loving heart can feel my deepest woe,
        Who in each sorrow bears a part that none can bear below.
        Jesus, the name I love so well, the name I love to hear:
        No saint on earth its worth can tell, no heart conceive how dear;
        Yes! O how I love Jesus, because He first loved me!

        • Praise the Lord!

          When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad,
          and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord.

          Acts 11:23

          I Would Be True

          I would be true, for there are those who trust me;
          I would be pure, for there are those who care;
          I would be strong, for there is much to suffer;
          I would be brave, for there is much to dare.

          I would be friend of all — the foe, the friendless;
          I would be giving, and forget the gift;
          I would be humble, for I know my weakness;
          I would look up, and laugh, and love and lift.

          I would be faithful through each passing moment;
          I would be constantly in touch with God;
          I would be strong to follow where He leads me;
          I would have faith to keep the path Christ trod.

          Who is so low that I am not his brother?
          Who is so high that I’ve no path to him?
          Who is so poor, that I may not feel his hunger?
          Who is so rich I may not pity him?

          Who is so hurt I may not know his heartache?
          Who sings for joy my heart may never share?
          Who in God’s heaven has passed beyond my vision?
          Who to Hell’s depths where I may never fare?

          May none, then, call on me for understanding,
          May none, then, turn to me for help in pain,
          And drain alone his bitter cup of sorrow,
          Or find he knocks upon my heart in vain.

          For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?
          Mark 8:36

          If I Gained the World

          If I gained the world, but lost the Savior,
          Were my life worth living for a day?
          Could my yearning heart find rest and comfort
          In the things that soon must pass away?
          If I gained the world, but lost the Savior,
          Would my gain be worth the lifelong strife?
          Are all earthly pleasures worth comparing
          For a moment with a Christ-filled life?
          If I have but Jesus, only Jesus,
          Nothing else in all the world beside—
          O then everything is mine in Jesus;
          For my needs and more He will provide.

          • Praise the Lord!

            And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat.
            Exodus 25:22

            Sunday Morning Praise

            Before Thy Mercy Seat, O Lord

            Before Thy mercy seat, O Lord,
            Behold, Thy servants stand,
            To ask the knowledge of Thy Word,
            The guidance of Thy hand.

            Let Thy eternal truths, we pray,
            Dwell richly in each heart;
            That from the safe and narrow way
            We never may depart.

            Lord, from Thy Word remove the seal,
            Unfold its hidden store,
            And as we read, teach us to feel
            Its value more and more.

            Help us to see a Savior’s love
            Shine forth from every page,
            And let the thoughts of joys above
            Our inmost souls engage.

            Thus, while Thy Word our footsteps guides,
            Shall we be truly blest,
            And soon arrive where love provides
            An everlasting rest.

            Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence.
            Hebrews 4:16

            Behold the Throne of Grace

            Behold the throne of grace, the promise calls us near,
            There Jesus shows a smiling face and waits to answer prayer.
            My soul ask what thou wilt, Thou canst not be too bold;
            Since His own blood for thee He spilt, what else can He withhold.
            Teach me to live by faith, conform my will to Thine;
            Let me victorious be in death, and then in glory shine.
            If Thou these blessings give, and wilt my portion be;
            Cheerful the world’s poor toys I leave, to them who know not Thee.

            • Praise the Lord!

              To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven:
              A time to weep…a time to mourn…
              a time of war, and a time of peace.

              Ecclesiastics 3:1, 4, 8
              That these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, every family…
              and that the memory of them should not perish.

              Esther 9:28
              I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.
              Philippians 1:3

              Our Soldier Heroes Sleeping

              They’ll never cross the valleys, or crystal waters sweet,
              They’ll never face the foeman, when charging armies meet;
              O’er mountains, vast and hoary, o’er hill and grassy plain,
              Our soldier heroes sleeping, shall never march again.

              We’ll call our hosts together, from over land and sea,
              They’ll never hear the trumpet, or sound of reveille;
              Our country’s flag shall lead them a host as strong and brave,
              As they who sleep in silence, where flowers o’er them wave.

              They fought and won the battle, those hero boys of ours,
              And we are left to weep them and strew their graves with flow’rs;
              They’ve won the palms of glory, they wear the rose of grace,
              Beneath His crown of sunlight their souls shall see His face.

              Their feet shall cross the valleys, and Eden’s rivers sweet,
              They’ll lie beside the fountains, where angels joyful meet;
              But ’mid their country’s battles, o’er any earthy plain,
              Our soldier heroes sleeping, shall never march again.

              They’ll shall never march again, never march again,
              Our soldier heroes sleeping, shall never march again.
              They’ll never march again, never march again,
              Our soldier heroes sleeping, yes, shall never march again.

              The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in
              From this time forth, and even forevermore.

              Psalm 121:8

              For the Dear Ones Parted From Us

              For the dear ones parted from us we would raise our hymns of prayer;
              By the tender love which watcheth round Thy children everywhere,
              Holy Father, Holy Father, keep them ever in Thy care.
              In their joys, by friends surrounded, in their strife, by foes oppressed,
              May Thy blessing still be with them, may Thy presence give them rest,
              God Almighty, God Almighty, Father, Son, and Spirit blest.

              • Praise the Lord!
                We shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye…For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 1 Cor. 15:51-52

                In The Twinkling Of An Eye

                When the trump of the great archangel
                Its mighty tones shall sound,
                And, the end of the age proclaiming,
                Shall pierce the depths profound;
                When the Son of Man shall come in His glory
                To take the saints on high,
                What a shouting in the skies from the multitudes that rise,
                Changed in the twinkling of an eye.

                When He comes in the clouds descending,
                And they who loved Him here,
                From their graves shall awake and praise Him
                With joy and not with fear;
                When the body and the soul are united,
                And clothed no more to die,
                What a shouting there will be when each other’s face we see,
                Changed in the twinkling of an eye.

                O the seed that was sown in weakness
                Shall then be raised in pow’r
                And the songs of the blood bought millions
                Shall hail that blissful hour;
                When we gather safely home in the morning,
                And night’s dark shadows fly,
                What a shouting on the shore when we meet to part no more,
                Changed in the twinkling of an eye.

                Changed in the twinkling of an eye,
                Yes! Changed in the twinkling of an eye,
                The trumpet shall sound, the dead shall be raised,
                Changed in the twinkling of an eye.

                The coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him.
                2 Thessalonians 2:1

                What a Gathering

                On that bright and golden morning,
                When the Son of Man shall come,
                And the radiance of His glory we shall see,
                What a gath’ring of the ransomed that will be!
                O the King is surely coming, and the time is drawing nigh,
                When the blessed day of promise we shall see;
                Then the changing “in a moment,” “in the twinkling of an eye,”
                What a gath’ring, what a gath’ring, that will be.

                  The unsearchable riches of Christ.
                  Ephesians 3:8

                  Unsearchable Riches

                  Oh, the unsearchable riches of Christ,
                  Wealth that can never be told!
                  Riches exhaustless of mercy and grace,
                  Precious, more precious than gold!

                  Oh, the unsearchable riches of Christ!
                  Who shall their greatness declare?
                  Jewels whose luster our lives may adorn,

                  It Passes Knowledge

                  It passes knowledge, that dear love of Thine!
                  My Jesus! Savior! yet this soul of mine
                  Would of that love, in all its depth and length,
                  Its height and breadth, and everlasting strength know more and more.
                  And when my Jesus face to face I see,
                  Then of His love, in all its breadth and length,
                  Its height and depth, its everlasting strength, my soul shall sing.

                    Hide me under the shadow of Your wings.
                    Psalm 17:8

                    Thou Tender, Gracious Father

                    Thou tender, gracious Father, who watches over me,
                    How shall I ever praise Thee, how love and honor Thee?
                    Thou guidest me with caution from every secret snare,
                    And ’neath Thy wings a refuge I find in my despair.

                    With raiment, food and shelter, whate’er my needs imply,
                    For soul and body ever, do Thou in grace supply.
                    O Lord, I soon would perish if aught Thou should exclude;
                    O could I love Thee better and prove my gratitude.

                    In childlike, true obedience help me to do the right;
                    May precious be Thy statutes, Thy yoke be pleasant light!
                    And when some hardship threatens, a danger frightens me,
                    May Thou in all my trials my present helper be.

                    Thy heart is all compassion, with love it overflows;
                    Whate’er of ill betide me, Thou knowest, and my woes.
                    Thou dost not sleep nor slumber, by night nor thru the days;
                    Thine arms, almighty Father, enfold all time and space.

                    Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns;
                    yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
                    Are you not of more value than they?

                    Matthew 6:26

                    My Heav’nly Father Watches Over Me

                    I trust in God wherever I may be,
                    Upon the land, or on the rolling sea,
                    For come what may, from day to day,
                    My heav’nly Father watches over me.
                    He makes the rose an object of His care,
                    He guides the eagle thro’ the pathless air,
                    And surely He remembers me;
                    My heav’nly Father watches over me.
                    I trust in God, I know He cares for me;
                    On mountain bleak or on the stormy sea;
                    Tho’ billows roll, He keeps my soul;
                    My heav’nly Father watches over me.

                      Philippians 4:19

                      Just When I Need Him

                      Just when I need Him, Jesus is near,
                      Just when I falter, just when I fear;
                      Ready to help me, ready to cheer,
                      Just when I need Him most.

                      Just when I need Him, Jesus is true,
                      Never forsaking all the way through;
                      Giving for burdens pleasures anew,
                      Just when I need Him most.

                      Just when I need Him, Jesus is strong,
                      Bearing my burdens all the day long;
                      For all my sorrow giving a song,
                      Just when I need Him most.

                      Just when I need Him, He is my all,
                      Answering when upon Him I call;
                      Tenderly watching lest I should fall,
                      Just when I need Him most.

                      Just when I need Him most,
                      Just when I need Him most,
                      Jesus is near to comfort and cheer,

                      For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him.
                      2 Corinthians 13:4

                      Just a Closer Walk With Thee

                      I am weak, but Thou art strong; Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
                      I’ll be satisfied as long as I walk, let me walk close to Thee.
                      Through this world of toil and snares, if I falter, Lord, who cares?
                      Who with me my burden shares? None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.
                      When my feeble life is o’er, time for me will be no more;
                      Guide me gently, safely o’er to Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.
                      Just a closer walk with Thee, grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
                      Daily walking close to Thee, let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

                        It sounds like music in my ear, the sweetest name on earth.

                        Who in each sorrow bears a part that none can bear below.

                          Sunday Morning Praise

                          O Come Let Us Sing to the Lord

                          O come let us sing to the Lord, in God our salvation rejoice;
                          In psalms of thanksgiving record His praise with one spirit, one voice!
                          For Jehovah is king, and He reigns, the God of all gods on His throne,
                          The strength of the hills He maintains, the ends of the earth are His own.

                          The sea is LORD's; He made the tide its dominion to know;
                          The land is LORD’s; He laid its solid foundations below;
                          O come let us worship and kneel before our creator, our God!
                          The people who serve Him with zeal, the flock whom He guides with His rod.

                          Through sea and the wilderness led, His wonderful works we behold,
                          With manna from Heaven are fed; today, let us hearken, today,
                          To the voice that speaks from above, and all His commandments obey,
                          For all His commandments are love.

                          Songs of thankfulness and praise, Jesus, Lord, to Thee we raise,
                          Manifested by the star to the sages from afar;

                          Grant us grace to see Thee, Lord, mirrored in Thy holy Word;
                          May we imitate Thee now, and be pure, as pure art Thou;

                          And may praise Thee, ever blest, God in man made manifest.

                            And they journeyed…in the wilderness…toward the sunrise.
                            Numbers 21:11

                            ’Twill Not be Long

                            ’Twill not be long, our journey here;
                            Each broken sigh and falling tear
                            Will soon be gone, and all will be
                            A cloudless sky, a waveless sea.

                            ’Twill not be long; the yearning heart
                            May feel its every hope depart,
                            And grief be mingled with its song;
                            We’ll meet again; ’twill not be long.

                            Though sad we mark the closing eye,
                            Of those we loved in days gone by,
                            Yet sweet in death their latest song
                            We’ll meet again; ’twill not be long.

                            These checkered wilds, with thorns o’erspread,
                            Through which our way so oft is led
                            This march of time, with truth so strong,
                            Will end in bliss; ’twill not be long.

                            Deuteronomy 6:3

                            In The Promised Land

                            I wandered through the wilderness, but God reached out His hand,
                            And drew me safe to Canaan’s shore, I’m in the promised land.
                            The Lord upholds me by His grace, and will no ill allow;
                            He leads me on from height to height, and sanctifies me now.
                            My eyes are fixed on Him alone, I’m pressing for the goal;
                            And as I climb the mountainside, His glory fills my soul.
                            The Holy Spirit guides me in the path my master trod;
                            With songs of rapture all day I praise the Lamb of God.

                            Psalm 25:1

                            Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. ~ Leo Buscaglia

                            • Praise the Lord!
                              Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will…Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31

                              His Eye Is On The Sparrow

                              Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
                              Why should my heart be lonely, and long for Heav’n and home,
                              When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He:
                              His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

                              Let not your heart be troubled, His tender word I hear,
                              And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
                              Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
                              His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

                              Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
                              When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
                              I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
                              His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

                              I sing because I’m happy,
                              Yes and I sing because I’m free,
                              For His eye is on the sparrow,
                              And I know He watches me.

                              Give thanks to the LORD for His goodness.
                              Psalm 107:8

                              Break Forth, O Joyful Heart

                              Break forth, O joyful heart, and make His goodness known,
                              Who all thy life, though undeserved, such love to thee has shown.
                              ’Twas Jesus sought my wand’ring soul, and with a shepherd’s care
                              He brought me kindly to His fold, and still protects me there.
                              He is my advocate with God, my Savior and my friend,
                              His mercies new with every morn like balmy showers descend.
                              My soul shall magnify the Lord, my voice His love proclaim,
                              And every power within me join to bless and praise His name.
                              Break forth, O joyful heart, break forth, no longer silent be;
                              Break forth in grateful praise to Him who came to ransom Thee.

                              • Praise the Lord!

                                Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;
                                and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

                                Luke 12:27

                                Consider the Lilies

                                Consider the lilies how stately they grow!
                                They toil not, they spin not, no seed do they sow;
                                Yet they bloom all the summer, so shining and tall,
                                The Father who loves them takes thought for them all.

                                Consider the ravens who gives them their food?
                                Who shelters their nest in the storm beaten wood?
                                Who guides the young sparrow? who watches its fall?
                                Their Father in Heaven takes heed for them all.

                                Our Father in Heaven, Thy children on earth
                                Than lilies or ravens Thou holdest more worth:
                                O guide us and guard us, be near when we call,
                                Uphold us, enfold us we thank Thee for all!

                                Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14

                                The Things Which are Behind

                                Leave behind earth’s empty pleasure, fleeting hope and changeful love;
                                Leave its soon-corroding treasure; there are better things above.
                                Leave, oh, leave thy fond aspirings, bid thy restless heart be still;
                                Cease, oh cease, thy vain desirings, only seek thy Father’s will.
                                Leave behind thy faithless sorrow, and thine every anxious care;
                                He who only knows the morrow can for thee its burden bear.
                                Leave behind the doubting spirit, and thy crushing load of sin;
                                By thy mighty Saviour’s merit, life eternal thou shalt win.
                                Leave the darkness gathering o’er thee, leave the shadow-land behind;
                                Realms of glory lie before thee; enter in, and welcome find.
