Toxicity

Offline, it's the same world, different facade.

Turn the cheek. Make the best of the situation.

Welcome, sister.

Interesting.

You came here and said this:

I was and still am delighted to have found this site because I will meet some interesting people here.
I was still disappointed by the toxicity I've encountered and also a great deal of patronisation , like yours for instance which has is by far most patronising of all. Please don't speak to me like a 4 year old, and maybe try getting off your high horse long enough not to say things like people should have to 'deal with them' re negative comments.
Please don't talk to me.

Why were you "delighted"?
Didn't you have enough sense to check out the atmosphere of the site before you decided to make a judgement on it?

You came here to discuss the Gospel of Thomas, which is not holy scripture.
We, as Christians, have a duty to point out heresy and refute it, not be tolerant of it.

Stay.
You can learn a lot here.
But not if your focus is going to be on negative comments instead of the point.
Negative comments exist no matter where you go. Learn to deal with them.

But just so you know .....
TOL makes no apologies for being biased.
And yes, you will be ridiculed for dragging more heresy here.
But that still won't keep you from learning something valuable here.

Seriously

Seriously

That's correct. Jesus came to divide :poly: not tolerate :freak: (Lk 12:51).

We are holding out hope that she is a liberal not a Leftist. If she's a liberal, she'll consider that her position may be wrong.

If she's a Leftist, she will be unable to override her feelings and she'll maintain her godless view (Eccl 10:2, Jn 10:10).

There truly are some very righteous and arrogant people on here.
I am not 'Godless' Because I said I feel an affinity with the readings of St Thomas doesn't mean I don't believe the Bible and not once have I said that.
I simply joined here to try and gain more insight into various religions so that I can convert from what I was christened as, Church Of England.

Seeing as quite a few of you seem to be making it your business to judge me on here, I will criticise you and say , I hope to God , I don't turn out to be someone as rude and damning as you are.

I'm slightly disappointed that I have come across so much toxicity , mockery and trickery as a new member.
I have joined this site because I am curious , exploring and want to become more committed to God , but I find it really off-putting when some quite a few people seem to find it a joke or some kind of interview that I need to pass. I don't enjoy elitism and think we should treat each other as equals.
I'm just saying this because if this is the way new members usually get treated you are going to scare a lot away.

How do I block certain people on here please? :jazz:

when the pretenders and "holier than thou" people, experts and scholars, wackos and wierdos are done. you will find honest, caring, loving people with no agendas or motives or judgement. i try to be the latter, but it's even difficult for the people that are experienced with this type of atmosphere. please stay awhile and smile ! ! ! TOL needs you ! ! ! - :limey:

Thank you

Thank you

Thank you for your welcoming words :)

Yes it can be disappointing at times but I think a lot of TOL is what you make it. There are good discussions and good people, you just have to find it. Ignore the jerks and mean-spirited stuff and get in some good debates where you can.

Hope you stick with it. :wave2:

i self evaluate and perform self analysis every second of every day. this allows me to judge everyone else - :nono:
It's OK to judge ideas and behaviors. Just not people. And even then, it's more a judgment based on our own moral and intellectual imperatives, not some imagined universal righteousness, of which we assume ourselves to be the divine representatives. :nono:
