Children need socialization and trained professionals to educate them.

:rotfl: Are you serious?

Ahhh yes, the social aspect of public schooling, I almost forgot! Well, if I wanted my girls to be severely sexually harassed daily, experience fierce peer pressure, have poor self-esteem, pick up a few drug habits, disrespect authority, use foul language, learn how to give oral sex, become a homosexual, and embrace relativism, feminism and tolerance as virtues, or possibly get sexually molested by their peers and teachers, then I would send them to public school in a heartbeat. But, I actually love my children and care about their physical, emotional and spiritual well-being, so that kind of "socialization" is not an option for our family!

Oh - and the "trained professionals" - you mean the ones who are repetedly molesting and having sex with their students? NO THANKS!

Who is Bob Enyart? Methinks he needs to substantiate his claims. Asserting somechin doesn't make it so.
Ok, specifically which claims?
Children need socialization
Most homeschoolers have no problems with socialization, and are actually better adjusted to inter-personal interaction than the majority of public schoolers.
and trained professionals to educate them.
No, they do not.

Danielle, due respect, but dumping your personal history at virtually every opportunity is really getting old. You should know full well not every student in a public school will have the same experience you did, and spilling your baggage at the drop of a hat is boring, repetitious, and gratuitous. You can disagree with someone all you like but that does not mean their experience and the experience of their children in a public school will be, or was, a thing like your own.

Yes, I'm not interested in her hiding from reality because I'm fearful she might hear something different. Our God is a God of love and strength, not fear.
And if you honestly believe she will not be influenced by bad company, which corrupts good character, you're an idiot.

If you're bored, feel free NOT to read my posts or the threads that I start.

Actually the topics you speak about are generally somewhat interesting, but you also dump the same paragraph of your past screw ups about as often as possible. It was a suggestion, nothing more. It's real, real old.

How do you mean?

Just that God is outlawed in the public schools, they teach an other than Christian world view, it is socialism which is against Christianity and the Bible should be the foundation of a Christian education. It is also just foolish to send your kids to the public schools and Christians are called to be wise.

Bad company only corrupts when there is no solid foundation in the individual. I have a lot of faith in my daughter and have made sure she knows that. She is a self-confident individual who makes excellent grades just like her older siblings and I am very proud of all three of them. My two grown children were also educated in the public school system and both obtained masters degrees. They both have excellent jobs but more importantly they have families and lots of good friends. I coached all three of my children in sports and saw first-hand the different parenting methods. Some parents taught confidence to their children and some taught them that the world was a fearful place that is to be mistrusted at every turn. I taught mine to face the world’s challenges and subdue them instead of hiding from them. This is a free country so it’s certainly your right to teach your children to fear the world if you want to. But I believe in a God as revealed by the teachings of Jesus who is more powerful than anything the world can bring on. So no amount of fear mongering or insults on your part is going to affect my beliefs in any way.
