What is your take/definition of a - soul?

Of course I have my ideas, but I'd like to see what most TOL followers think is the answer to: What is the definition of a soul? What is it in your minds and in scripture?

Perfect match to my thoughts which are: male/female were created first as invisible spirits in Genesis 1. They existed within the ONE living Spiritual God but had not yet been manifested visually. I suggest: Most things were invisible until God called forth light and began creating celestial bodies such as stars and our sun and moon.

Love your definition ... Once again fits my ideas. Two unique spirits male/ female ... are to become a person with one body.

Yes, God is life and he imparts the breath of life in measures to whatever he chooses. I happen to believe that male female already had a measure of life given them and when God breathed into the body he had formed ... then humanity became a person with their body.

One slight difference I see between your ideas and mine is that I don't distinguish between life and spirit. Our spiritual God is life ... all life comes from him. The verb breathing implies he has a way to share his spiritual life with creatures he is creating.

I have to run now ... taking grand daughter to swim practice. Look forward to discussing these ideas so far about the soul.
