The Weather Service just had to correct Trump

...after he advised Alabamans to prepare for Hurricane Dorian.

Possibly, he confused "Bahamas" with "Alabama."

The Weather Service had to issue a retraction to calm Alabamans who were wondering how they were going to be involved.

The National Weather Service (NWS) had to quickly reassure people that Alabama would not be hit by Hurricane Dorian after President Donald Trump mistakenly said that the state would be in the firing line for the Category-5 storm heading westwards from the Caribbean.

After the hurricane made landfall in the Bahamas on Sunday with winds of 185 miles per hour, the president issued an ominous warning about the storm's path as it headed towards the U.S.

He tweeted: "In addition to Florida – South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama, will most likely be hit (much) harder than anticipated," the president tweeted on Sunday.

"Looking like one of the largest hurricanes ever. Already category 5. BE CAREFUL! GOD BLESS EVERYONE!"

Good Lord dude....do you live in Florida?

It has ben repeated ad nausem the uncertainty of the storm.

This is just nitpicky to the extreme.

Yeah it's really nitpicky when you can't keep your states straight in a disaster situation. :p

Who said he didn't keep his states straight?

I know the forecast is it may stay offshore, but no one knew that at the time....it was a guess. Still is a guess. Some models had it crossing the state at the time.

So yeah, nitpicky......to the extreme.....you included I guess.

I have to laugh. The biggest fallacy creator on this site is criticizing Trump for maybe being wrong about the weather. Our fallacy genius gets almost everything wrong on every subject he posts, yet he has the gall to knock Trump. ****rolls eyes****

The National Weather Service had to drop their programming for a time, to let people know that Alabama is not in danger from Dorian.

There are a lot of people in Alabama who take Trump seriously, and are likely to believe him when he does things like this. It's no small issue.

LOL. Barby just keeps on providing more humor. Unintentionally to be sure, but doing it just the same.

What egregious behavior on Trump's part to tell people they need to have a few days water, food, batteries, tp, and whatever else they might need, just in case. How racist, homophobic, cruel, nasty, and just hateful can you get? :hammer:

It's a good idea to have all those supplies on hand at all times because catastrophes can come with no warning whatsoever. That Trump would encourage that says just how truly evil the man really is. :bang:

You're right on one thing, Barby. It's no small thing that Trump did. It shows he cares about the people of this country.

Trump doubles down on his false warning for Alabama
Donald Trump on Tuesday night doubled down on his claim that Hurricane Dorian could hit Alabama, lashing out at a “lightweight” reporter who cited a “phony hurricane report,” Yahoo News reports.

As reported at the time by The Birmingham News, last weekend Trump warned that Hurricane Dorian could strike Alabama.

“It may get a little piece of a great place: it’s called Alabama,” said President Trump. “And Alabama could even be in for at least some very strong winds and something more than that,” he said.

At a news conference, Trump showed a NOAA graphic, which someone crudely altered with a magic marker to make it appear that the projected path of the hurricane included Alabama.

1. Isn't this the same President who decided to forgo the Poland trip so that he could dedicate all his time to keeping abreast of the Hurricane Dorian threat - that is between rounds of golf!

2. Despite being told that Alabama wasn't on Dorian's projected path by that state's Weather Division 22 minutes after he announced it over the weekend, this President repeated the same assertion on Wednesday September 4th from the White House on national television

3. The President used a US Weather Bureau Map to give credibility to his Alabama claims, except according to federal Weather Bureau officials they had never produced such map and that this "doctored" version provided a decidedly false forecast!

4. Under US Federal Codes, Unannotated Title 18. Crimes and Criminal Procedure § 2074. False Weather Reports, the President could be charged with "knowingly issues or publishes any counterfeit weather forecast or warning of weather conditions falsely representing such forecast or warning to have been issued or published by the Weather Bureau ..."

5. How long are Trump supporters going to continue to act as "ENABLERS" for this President's increasingly bizarre behaviour - providing increasingly implausible excuses to explain away the inexplicable?

Trump and Dorian. Even if drbrumley is correct and there was a possibility, however slim, that Dorian would impact Alabama, where did the map with the black half circle over southeast Alabama come from? And why, after the NOAA map showed the cone of uncertainty getting wider over Florida does it contract over Alabama? That is not how these projections normally look.
Which science/weather connected member of the Trump administration produced that map?
Bueller, Bueller? Anyone? Anyone?

Barbarian chuckles:
Can you imagine the shrieks of outrage and calls for impeachment if Obama had done this?

You're projecting.

Republicans had a conniption because Obama wore a tan suit. C'mon. If he had put up a NOAA hurricane projection that was altered with a black marker to fit his earlier false story, you know what would have happened.

I don't like Trump at all, but to go on like you are about something trivial like this exposes your troll-like tendencies.

People depend on the president to tell us about potential disasters. Faking a hurricane forecast can have disastrous results. And...

Whoever changed that map Trump showed at his press conference committed a crime. Who in the WH do you think is dumb enough to try to fool people by using a sharpie to alter the real forecast?

Right. Did you see his face when a reporter asked him about it, or listen to him stumble though attempting to explain it away?
