[The Vatican Has Paid Close To $4 Billion To Settle Child Molestation Lawsuits by Alexa Erickson Collective Evolution] "The reality of child molestation by the Roman Catholic Church has surfaced time and time again, and yet, somehow, it continues to happen. If you watched the movie Spotlight, perhaps you have an idea of just how things are going down. But let’s break it down to date.

While you can’t put a price on the innocence of a child, you can put a price on just how much the Roman Catholic Church has paid out in lawsuits over the never-ending epidemic of child molestation wreaking havoc in its ranks.

According to Jack and Diane Ruhl of the National Catholic Reporter, who since 1950, the Vatican has spent a disgusting $3,994,797,060.10. That’s nearly $4 billion to keep things hush hush..." If the RCC can payout $4 billion how much wealth does it have? I'm was just curious how does the RCC have so much wealth?
There are about 2 billion professing Christians in the world today. More than half of those---1.2 billion---are Catholics. So the Catholic Church accounts for more than half of all Christians on earth. If we were to combine the remaining billion or so non-Catholic denominations and sects into one big group, imagine how wealthy that denomination would be!

Also, consider that the Catholic Church has been in existence for nearly two millennia---twenty centuries---and has spread over the entire globe in that vast time. That's why Christ's one historic Church has been known since the 1st century as "the Catholic Church" ("catholic" means "universal," or "global"). The Church is by far the oldest and largest religious organization in the world (Matthew 13:31-32; Acts 1:8). Thus, one can imagine the annual budget necessary to operate such a worldwide entity, with its countless parishes, hospitals, missions, schools, shelters, food pantries and warehouses, publishing ministries, museums, charities, pregnancy centers, etc.

Finally, it should be noted that the majority of the Church's "wealth" exists in the form of properties (buildings, hospitals, schools, etc.), artistic treasures (of which the Church is a steward), etc., and not as stacks of cash or gold bars sitting in a bank somewhere. ;)

No.

A lot of the headcount of the Catholic Church is due in people simply not being excommunicated for being in all practicality atheist. They have committed many mortal sins and are nonetheless called Catholic because they were initiated as a child.

The fact is that they are professing and baptized Christians, and you---unless you wish to claim omniscience---have absolutely no idea who has supposedly committed sins or not. Let's leave the status of people's salvation up to God and not you, shall we?
