The Lord sought fruit and found none

That is one of the saddest and most tragic verses in the Bible. God planted His vineyard in a goodly land and hired keepers to keep it but when it came time to reap the harvest of grapes it only brought forth wild grapes.

Christians should be warned. Seek the Lord while He may be found.

Luke 13:6
He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.

Isaiah 5:2
And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.

The Lord rewards those who seek Him with the whole heart. He does not reward those who refuse to seek Him.

Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Christians can please God by learning lessons from the scripture, including those related to Israel.
Christians cannot please God by pretending to be Israel, nor by trying to follow instructions intended only for Israel.
Thank you.

I've always found it odd that so many can readily see the characters and events of Israel as a typology of a greater character and event, but can't see Israel itself as typology of the greater.

If God had already designed Saul to fail and David to be a man after His own heart, then why did God tell Saul He was rejecting him for disobedience and was looking for another to take his place who would do His will? I don't believe God made Saul fail or David succeed, they just failed or succeeded with the same amount of light God had given them to follow or not according to their own will.

1 Samuel 13:14
But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the Lord hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the Lord hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the Lord commanded thee.
