ECT The Crucial Eschatological Formula

Mt 24A etc is about the 1st century conflict, the Great Revolt. B is about the worldwide judgement of God, which was expected right after A but with the allowance for a delay, which we now know is what happened.

There is nothing but confusion about eschatology if this is overlooked.

Likewise the Rev is about the same trauma, and for Christians who were in Judea during it. The 'harlot' is 'stoned' and then the 'wedding' takes place and continues on to this day, Eph 5. It is not a prediction about world events centuries later as found in the book advertised on this page.

DO WE HAVE A PRETERIST HERE ?

Preterism holds that the contents of Revelation constitute a prophecy of events that were fulfilled in the 1st century. Preterists believe the dating of the book of Revelation is of vital importance and that it was written before the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD.

Mt 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars:
see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass,
but the end is not yet.

The Rev called itself a prophecy in the original sense. It was an outcry against the failures of Judaism. It was a pastoral treatment of the trauma those Christians had to go through. It was not and is not a prognostication competing with Nostradamus or Dixon or others of that kind. That was imposed on the Rev by distant "Christian" writers of the 19th century.

If you haven't noticed over the past 70 years almost nothing matches the modern situation. There are simply a million claims that such and such an author now sees it correctly for $19.95 plus shipping. And the last time I saw a 'personnel and materiel' inventory of the Rev, it got to about the middle and was -275%. So don't bother with expressions like 'this is exactly what the precise word of God was about.'
