The Sabbath is a day of rest. No preparation required.
Maybe not for you. Complete your work before the Sabbath begins.

It's not a requirement for salvation. So no, no preparation has to be taken unless you want to do it.
You can prepare if you want to. If you find yourself unprepared for some reason or for whatever reason if it is Shabbat simply do not do your normal work and do your best the next time to be prepared, finish your work before the Sabbath begins or commences. If you observe Candle Lighting your work should be done before this.

Even though I work on it, it isn't a violation.
You can work on preparing for the Sabbath? Or, was that the problem?
Or after the Sabbath, no difference.
If you recognize that you are doing work that is your normal work or which constitutes work according to the Talmud, on Shabbat, simply cease from that work and complete it after the Sabbath is over or after the Sabbath has concluded. Because work must be completed, but not on the Sabbath.
Because work that must be completed ought not to be completed on the Sabbath.

Explain your viewpoint. There are different reasons why you might say this.
