:BRAVO:

Praise the Lord!

Keep your heart with all diligence,
For out of it spring the issues of life.

Proverbs 4:23

:poly:

Keep Thy Heart

Keep thy heart with earnest effort,
To thy God thy ear incline;
Put away all foolish longings,
Waiting for His will divine.

Keep thy heart thou shalt not stumble
In the path of truth and light
If with firm and earnest purpose
Thou shalt keep thy heart aright.

Keep thy heart dare not to enter
In the broad but downward way;
Thine the narrow path that shineth
Brighter to the perfect day.

Keep thy heart thy Father seeth
All that is to men unknown;
Surely in the day of sentence
He shall claim thee for His own.

Keep thy heart with fervent watching;
Cleanse its courts with loving care
Face to face in sweet communion,
Thou shalt meet thy Savior there.

:BRAVO:

Praise the Lord!

A soft answer turns away wrath,
But a harsh word stirs up anger.

Proverbs 15:1

:poly:

Kind Words Can Never Die

Kind words can never die, cherished and blest;
God knows how deep they lie, stored in the breast;
Like childhood’s simple rhymes, said o’er a thousand times,
Aye, in all years and climes distant and near.
Kind words can never die, no, never die.

Sweet thoughts can never die, tho’, like the flow’rs,
Their brightest hues may fly, in wintry hours.
But when the gentle dew gives them their charms anew,
With many an added hue they bloom again.
Sweet thoughts can never die, no, never die.

Our souls can never die, tho’ in the tomb
We all may have to lie, wrapped in its gloom.
What tho’ the flesh decay, souls pass in peace away,
Live thro’ eternal day with Christ above.
Our souls can never die, no, never die.

Praise the Lord!

Pleasant words are like a honeycomb,
Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.

Proverbs 16:24

:poly:

Somebody Did a Golden Deed

Somebody did a golden deed,
Proving himself a friend in need;
Somebody sang a cheerful song,
Bright’ning the sky the whole day long.
Was that somebody you?

Somebody tho’t ’tis sweet to live,
Willingly said, “I’m glad to give;”
Somebody fought a valiant fight,
Bravely he lived to shield the right.
Was that somebody you?

Somebody made a loving gift,
Cheerfully tried a load to lift;
Somebody told the love of Christ,
Told how His will was sacrificed.
Was that somebody you?

Somebody filled the days with light,
Constantly chased away the night;
Somebody’s work bore joy and peace,
Surely his life will never cease.
Was that somebody you?

Praise the Lord!

And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Colossians 3:17

:poly:

We All Can Do Good

Our lives, we are told, are but fleeting at best,
Like roses they fade and decay;
Then let us do good while the present is ours,
Be useful as long as we stay.

A look or a smile, that in kindness we give,
May comfort a desolate heart;
May sweeten a life that is lonely and sad,
And hope to the weary impart.

How many around us are strangers to God,
How many poor children we see;
If such we could bring to the foot of the cross,
How grateful and glad we should be.

We all can do good, and we all can bestow
Some gift for the sake of the Lord;
If only a cup of cold water we give,
Our souls will not lose their reward.

Do good unto others, do good while we can,
Our moments how quickly they fly;
Remember the proverb, remember it now,
We all can do good if we try.

:BRAVO:

Praise the Lord!

There is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
Proverbs 18:24

:poly:

One There is, Above all Others

One there is, above all others, well deserves the name of friend;
His is love beyond a brother’s, costly, free, and knows no end:
They who once His kindness prove, find it everlasting love!
Which of all our friends to save us, could or would have shed their blood?
But our Jesus died to have us reconciled, in Him to God:
This was boundless love indeed! Jesus is a friend in need!

Men, when raised to lofty stations, often know their friends no more;
Slight and scorn their poor relations though they valued them before.
But our Savior always owns those whom He redeemed with groans.
When He lived on earth abased, friend of sinners was His name;
Now, above all glory raised, He rejoices in the same:
Still He calls them brethren, friends, and to all their wants attends.

Could we bear from one another, what He daily bears from us?
Yet this glorious friend and brother, loves us though we treat Him thus:
Though for good we render ill, He accounts us brethren still.
O for grace our hearts to soften! Teach us, Lord, at length to love;
We, alas! forget too often, what a friend we have above:
But when home our souls are brought, we will love Thee as we ought.

Praise the Lord!

I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter.
John 14:16

:poly:

The Comforter Has Come

O spread the tidings ’round, wherever man is found,
Wherever human hearts and human woes abound;
Let ev’ry Christian tongue proclaim the joyful sound:
The Comforter has come!

The long, long night is past, the morning breaks at last,
And hushed the dreadful wail and fury of the blast,
As o’er the golden hills the day advances fast!
The Comforter has come!

Lo, the great King of kings, with healing in His wings,
To ev’ry captive soul a full deliverance brings;
And through the vacant cells the song of triumph rings;
The Comforter has come!

O boundless love divine! How shall this tongue of mine
To wond’ring mortals tell the matchless grace divine
That I, a child of hell, should in His image shine!
The Comforter has come!

Sing till the echoes fly above the vaulted sky,
And all the saints above to all below reply,
In strains of endless love, the song that ne’er will die:
The Comforter has come!

The Comforter has come, the Comforter has come!
The Holy Ghost from Heav’n, the Father’s promise giv’n;
O spread the tidings ’round, wherever man is found
The Comforter has come!

Praise the Lord!

I will come again and receive you to Myself.
John 14:3

:poly:

Our Savior Will Descend Again

Our Savior will descend again,
Earth’s buried millions raising;
With Him will come a glorious train,
Adoring Him and praising.

And though these bodies lie in dust
Before that glad appearing,
Yet shall they stand among the just,
Our Savior’s image wearing.

What, though earth’s gath’ring tempests lower,
And ages pass in sadness?
Yet we may see that glorious hour,
And hail the dawn with gladness.

Then, safe at last, this blessed throng,
Set free from tribulation,
Shall ever praise in holy song,
The God of their salvation.

Raise high the song that loud and long
Before Him ceaseth never,
Till, casting down each golden crown,
We worship Him forever.

Praise the Lord!

For in Him we live and move and have our being.
Acts 17:28

:poly:

Living for Jesus

Living for Jesus, a life that is true,
Striving to please Him in all that I do;
Yielding allegiance, glad hearted and free,
This is the pathway of blessing for me.

Living for Jesus who died in my place,
Bearing on Calvary my sin and disgrace;
Such love constrains me to answer His call,
Follow His leading and give Him my all.

Living for Jesus, wherever I am,
Doing each duty in His holy name;
Willing to suffer affliction and loss,
Deeming each trial a part of my cross.

Living for Jesus through earth’s little while,
My dearest treasure, the light of His smile;
Seeking the lost ones He died to redeem,
Bringing the weary to find rest in Him.

O Jesus, Lord and Savior, I give myself to Thee,
For Thou, in Thy atonement, didst give Thyself for me.
I own no other master, my heart shall be Thy throne.
My life I give, henceforth to live, O Christ, for Thee alone.

Praise the Lord!

Nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy,
and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

Acts 20:24

:poly:

As When the Weary Traveler Gains

As when the weary traveler gains the height of some o’erlooking hill;
His heart revives, if cross the plains he eyes his home, though distant still.
While he surveys the much loved spot, he slights the space that lies between;
His past fatigues are now forgot, because his journey’s end is seen.

Thus, when the Christian pilgrim views by faith, his mansion in the skies;
The sight his fainting strength renews, and wings his speed to reach the prize.
The thought of home his spirit cheers, no more he grieves for troubles past;
Nor any future trial fears, so he may safe arrive at last.

“Tis there,” he says, “I am to dwell with Jesus, in the realms of day;
Then I shall bid my cares farewell, and He will wipe my tears away.”
Jesus, on Thee our hope depends, to lead us on to Thine abode;
Assured our home will make amends for all our toil while on the road.

Sanctified by faith that is in me...
Acts 26:18
...and the life which I now live…by faith in the Son of God.
Galatians 2:20
For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith;
as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

Romans 1:17

:poly:

Savior, I am by Faith Touching Thee

Savior, I am by faith touching
Thee, the source of every good;
Virtue now, by faith am claiming,
Thro’ the cleansing of Thy blood.

Touching Thee in faith, I promise,
By Thine own unfailing aid,
Prompt obedience, instant service,
When and where it should be paid.

Touching now Thine outstretched scepter,
O most mighty King of kings;
Of Thy fullness now receiving,
High I mount on eagle wings.

Grace and virtue, strength and wisdom,
All my need, by Thee supplied,
Keep me touching, keep me claiming,
Keep me ever at Thy side.

Touching Thee, new life is glowing,
By Thy Spirit’s burning flame;
Cleansing, purging, spirit filling,
Glory to Thy holy name!

Praise the Lord!

The just shall live by his faith.
Habakkuk 2:4

:poly:

Living by Faith

I care not today what the morrow may bring,
If shadow or sunshine or rain,
The Lord I know ruleth o’er everything,
And all of my worries are vain.

Though tempests may blow and the storm clouds arise,
Obscuring the brightness of life,
I’m never alarmed at the overcast skies —
The Master looks on at the strife.

I know that He safely will carry me through,
No matter what evils betide;
Why should I then care though the tempest may blow,
If Jesus walks close to my side.

Our Lord will return for His loved ones some day,
Our troubles will then all be o’er;
The Master so gently will lead us away,
Beyond that blest heavenly shore.

Living by faith in Jesus above,
Trusting, confiding in His great love;
From all harm safe in His sheltering arm,
I’m living by faith and feel no alarm.

Praise the Lord!

Bless the LORD, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!

Psalm 103:1

:poly:

Sunday Morning Praise

O Praise and Bless the Lord, My Soul

O praise and bless the Lord, my soul, His wondrous love proclaim;
Join heart and voice and all my powers to bless His holy name.
O praise and bless the Lord, my soul, and ever thankful be;
Forget not all the benefits He has bestowed on thee.

He freely pardons all thy sins, and He is strong to save;
He heals thy sickness, soothes thy pain, and ransoms from the grave.
He crowns thee with His grace and love, and, with His strength endued,
Thou mountest up on eagle’s wings, Thy joyous youth renewed.

The Lord will judge in righteousness for all that are oppressed;
To all His saints His gracious acts and ways are manifest.
The Lord is ever merciful, and unto anger slow;
His loving-kindness and His grace in rich abundance flow.

He will not chide forevermore, He turns His wrath away;
He has not strictly marked our sins, our evil to repay.
As Heaven is high above the earth, so great His mercy proves;
As far from us as east and west He all our sins removes.

:BRAVO:

Praise the Lord!

But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious,
Longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.

Psalm 86:15

The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
Psalm 103:8

:poly:

The Lord, How Wondrous Are Thy Ways

The Lord, how wondrous are His ways! How firm His and large His grace!
He takes His mercy for His throne, and thence He makes His glories known.
Not half so high His power hath spread the starry heav’ns above our head,
As His rich love exceeds our praise, exceeds the highest hopes we raise.
Not half so far hath nature placed the rising morning from the west,
As His forgiving grace removes the daily guilt of those He loves.

How slowly doth His wrath arise, on swifter wings salvation flies;
And if He lets His anger burn, how soon His frowns to pity turn.
Amidst His wrath compassion shines; His strokes are lighter than our sins;
And while His rod corrects His saints, His ear indulges their complaints.
So fathers their young sons chastise with gentle hand and melting eyes;
The children weep beneath the smart, and move the pity of their heart.

The mighty God, the wise and just, knows that our frame is feeble dust;
And will no heavy loads impose beyond the strength that He bestows.
He knows how soon our nature dies, blasted by every wind that flies;
Like grass we spring, and die as soon, or morning flowers that fade at noon.
But His eternal love is sure to all the saints, and shall endure;
From age to age His truth shall reign, nor children’s children hope in vain.

Peace to you!
As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.

John 20:21

:poly:

So Send I You

So send I you to labor unrewarded,
To serve unpaid, unloved, unsought, unknown,
To bear rebuke, to suffer scorn and scoffing,
So send I you to toil for Me alone.
As the Father hath sent Me, So send I you.

So send I you to bind the bruised and broken,
O'er wand'ring souls to work, to weep, to wake,
To bear the burdens of a world aweary-
So send I you to suffer for My sake.
As the Father hath sent Me, So send I you.

So send I you to hearts made hard by hatred,
To eyes made blind because they will not see,
To spend, tho' it be blood, to spend and spare not-
So send I you to taste of Calvary.
As the Father hath sent Me, So send I you.

:BRAVO:

Praise the Lord!

Whoever desires to come after Me,
let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Mark 8:34

:poly:

Take Up Thy Cross

I walked one day along a country road,
And there a stranger journeyed, too,
Bent low beneath the burden of His load:
It was a cross, a cross I knew.

I cried, “Lord Jesus,” and He spoke my name;
I saw His hands all bruised and torn;
I stooped to kiss away the marks of shame,
The shame for me that He had borne.

“O let me bear Thy cross, dear Lord,” I cried,
And lo, a cross for me appeared,
The one forgotten I had cast aside,
The one, so long, that I had feared.

My cross I’ll carry till the crown appears,
The way I journey soon will end
Where God Himself shall wipe away all tears,
And friend hold fellowship with friend.

“Take up thy cross and follow Me.”
I hear the blessed Savior call;
How can I make a lesser sacrifice,
When Jesus gave His all?

My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD;
In the morning I will direct it to You,
And I will look up.

Psalm 5:3

:poly:

Another Day Begun!

Another day begun!
Lord, grant us grace that we,
Before the setting of the sun,
Redeem the time for Thee.

Another day of toil!
To Thee we yield our powers;
Keep Thou our souls from guilty soil
Through all the passing hours.

Another day of fear!
For watchful is our foe,
And sin is strong, and death is near,
And short our time below.

Another day of hope!
For Thou art with us still,
And Thine almighty strength can cope
With all who seek our ill.

Another day of grace
To help us on our way!
One step towards the resting-place,
The eternal Sabbath-day.

:BRAVO:

Praise the Lord!

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of mercies and God of all comfort.

2 Corinthians 1:3

:poly:

God of All Comfort, Calm and Fair

“God of all comfort,” calm and fair
Stretch the broad plains beneath Thine eye;
And silent, through the hazy air,
Rise the blue hills to meet the sky.

The music of the steeple bells
Floats softly on the balmy air,
And the green earth in thousand tones
Lifts to Thy throne her grateful prayer.

“God of all comfort,” deeper far
Than the glad voice of earth or sea,
Swells the full tide of thankful song
Our hearts would offer unto Thee.

Yet when we strive, our lips can frame
No words to speak Thy matchless love,
So far the honor of Thy Name
Lies all our highest thoughts above.

Read Thou within our silent hearts,
The songs they vainly seek to raise,
And count their grateful tears for prayer,
Their trembling joy for tuneful praise.

Psalm 4:8

Psalm 91:5

:poly:

Softly The Silent Night

Softly the silent night falleth from God,
On, weary wanderers, over life’s road;
And as the stars on high light up the darkening sky,
Lord, unto Thee we call Father above.

Softly on failing wing daylight has passed;
Sleep, like an angel, kind, folds us at last;
Peace be our lot this night, safe be our slumber light,
Watched by Thy angels bright Father above.

And when the gleam of morn touches our eyes,
And the returning day bids us arise,
Happy beneath Thy will, steadfast in joy or ill,
Lord, may we serve Thee still Father above.

O Lord, I will delight in Thee
And on Thy care depend,
To Thee in every trouble flee,
My best, my only Friend.

When all created streams are dried,
Thy fullness is the same;
May I with this be satisfied
And glory in Thy name.

No good in creatures can be found
But may be found in Thee;
