:BRAVO:

Praise the Lord!
But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. Matthew 6:6

:poly:

Alone With God

When storms of life are round me beating,
When rough the path that I have trod,
Within my closet door retreating,
I love to be alone with God.

What tho’ the clouds have gathered o’er me?
What tho’ I’ve passed beneath the rod?
God’s perfect will there lies before me,
When I am thus alone with God.

’Tis there I find new strength for duty,
As o’er the sands of time I plod;
I see the King in all His beauty,
While resting there alone with God.

And when I see the moment nearing
When I shall sleep beneath the sod,
When time with me is disappearing,
I want to be alone with God.

Alone with God, the world forbidden,
Alone with God, O blest retreat!
Alone with God, and in Him hidden,
To hold with Him communion sweet.

:BRAVO:

Praise the Lord!

It shall be well with you.
Psalm 128:2

:poly:

Balm in Secret Prayer

Pray on, pray on, O trusting heart,
Let not thy courage fail;
But take thy Savior at His word,
And know thou shalt prevail.

What tho’ thy prayers thro’ many tears
May reach His throne on high;
He knows the anguish of thy heart,
And will not pass thee by.

Perhaps in some desponding hour,
When hope has well nigh past,
The light will burst upon thy soul,
And joy be thine at last.

Pray on, pray on, O weary not,
Whate’er thy trial be;
But lean thy faith on Him who said,
“It shall be well with thee.”

Tho’ the cross is hard to bear,
There is balm in secret prayer;
Go and tell thy sorrows there,
And leave it ALL with Jesus.

:BRAVO:

Praise the Lord!

The Lord’s mercies…are new every morning.
Lamentations 3:22-23

:poly:

Every Morning Mercies New

Every morning mercies new
Fall as fresh as morning dew;
Every morning let us pay
Tribute with the early day:
For Thy mercies, Lord, are sure;
Thy compassion doth endure.

Still the greatness of Thy love
Daily doth our sins remove;
Daily, far as east from west,
Lifts the burden from the breast;
Gives unbought to those who pray
Strength to stand in evil day.

Let our prayers each morn prevail,
That these gifts may never fail;
And, as we confess the sin
And the tempter’s power within,
Every morning, for the strife,
Feed us with the Bread of Life.

As the morning light returns,
As the sun with splendor burns,
Teach us still to turn to Thee,
Ever blessed Trinity,
With our hands our hearts to raise,
In unfailing prayer and praise.

Praise the Lord!

The mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Jude 21

:poly:

Mercy is Boundless and Free

Thanks be to Jesus, His mercy is free, mercy is free, mercy is free;
Sinner, that mercy is flowing for thee, mercy is boundless and free.
If thou art willing on Him to believe, mercy is free, mercy is free;
Life everlasting thy soul may receive, mercy is boundless and free.

Why on the mountain of sin wilt thou roam, mercy is free, mercy is free;
Gently the Spirit is calling, “Come home,” mercy is boundless and free.
Thou art in darkness, O come to the light, mercy is free, mercy is free;
Jesus is waiting, He’ll save you tonight, mercy is boundless and free.

Think of His goodness, His patience, and love, mercy is free, mercy is free;
Pleading thy cause with His Father above, mercy is boundless and free.
Come and repenting, O give Him your heart, mercy is free, mercy is free;
Grieve Him no longer, but come as thou art, mercy is boundless and free.

Yes, there is pardon for all who believe, mercy is free, mercy is free;
Come and this moment a blessing receive, mercy is boundless and free.
Jesus is waiting, O hear Him proclaim, mercy is free, mercy is free;
Cling to His mercy, believe on His name, mercy is boundless and free.

Jesus the Savior is looking for thee Mercy is boundless and free.
Looking for thee, looking for thee Mercy is boundless and free.
Lovingly, tenderly calling for thee Mercy is boundless and free.
Calling and looking for thee Mercy is boundless and free.

Praise the Lord!

Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.
Matthew 25:40

Lend A Hand

Lend a hand! lend a hand! in the work for the world!
Place these words in your banner, ne’er let it be furled
While sin, pain and sadness hold sway in the world,
Lend a hand! lend a hand! in the work for the world!

There are eyes that are weeping where none wipe the tear;
There are hearts that are breaking for tidings of cheer;
There are sinners would turn from their sins were you near,
Lend a hand! lend a hand! in the work for the world!

There are lips that are burning where none hold the cup;
There are children who starve for a bit and a sup;
There are forms that are sinking, your hand might hold up,
Lend a hand! lend a hand! in the work for the world!

Lend a hand! lend a hand! there is coming a day
When He who shall weigh us, to each one will say,
Didst thou help every brother thou couldst in the way?
Lend a hand! lend a hand! in the work for the world!

Lend a hand! Lend a hand!
Lend a hand in the work for the world!
Lend a hand! Yes, lend a hand!
Lend a hand in the work for the world!

Praise the Lord!

He must increase, but I must decrease.
John 3:30

Less of Self and More of Jesus

Less of self and more of Jesus, less of man and more of God;
Earnest prayer of many workers in the vineyard of the Lord.
Less of self and more of Jesus girds the soul with holy pow’r,
Brightens life, and sweetens labor, in the use of every hour.

Less of self and more of Jesus, pleads the saint in earnest prayer,
For he labors souls to rescue from the tempter’s cruel snare.
Self concealed, faith works its wonders, trusts the merit of the blood;
Claims for Christ the sinner’s ransom, leads the penitent to God.

Less of self and more of Jesus, as in social life we meet;
May the beauties of salvation others lead to Jesus’ feet.
Not in vain exalt we Jesus, not in vain hide self away;
Great the joy and sweet the pleasure heaven grants us on our way.

Less of self and more of Jesus Yes, more of Jesus!
Less of man and more of God Yes, More of God!
Earnest prayer of many workers Earnest prayer!
In the vineyard of the Lord In Your vineyard Lord!

Praise the Lord!

I will sing of mercy and justice; to You, O LORD, I will sing praises.
Psalm 101:1

:poly:

Mercy and judgment are my song

Mercy and judgment are my song;
And since they both to Thee belong,
My gracious God, my righteous king,
To Thee my songs and vows I bring.

If I am raised to bear the sword,
I’ll take my counsels from Thy Word;
Thy justice and Thy heavenly grace
Shall be the pattern of my ways.

Let wisdom all my actions guide
And let my God with me reside;
No wicked thing shall dwell with me
Which may provoke Thy jealousy.

No sons of slander, rage, and strife
Shall be companions of my life;
The haughty look, the heart of pride,
Within my doors shall ne’er abide.

I’ll search the land, and raise the just
To posts of honor, wealth, and trust;
The men that work Thy holy will
Shall be my friends and favorites still.

In vain shall sinners hope to rise
By flattering or malicious lies;
And while the innocent I guard,
The bold offender shan’t be spared.

The impious crew, that factious band,
Shall hide their heads or quit the land;
And all that break the public rest,
Where I have power, shall be suppressed.

:BRAVO:

Praise the Lord!

I will sing of the mercies of the LORD forever;
With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations.

Psalm 89:1

:poly:

When all Thy mercies, O my God

When all Thy mercies, O my God, my rising soul surveys,
Transported with the view, I’m lost in wonder, love and praise.
Thy providence my life sustained, and all my wants redressed,
While in the silent womb I lay, and fed upon the breast.

To all my weak complaints and cries Thy mercy lent an ear,
Ere yet my feeble thoughts had learned to form themselves in prayer.
Unnumbered comforts to my soul Thy tender care bestowed,
Before my infant heart conceived from whom those comforts flowed.

When in the slippery paths of youth with heedless steps I ran,
Thine arm unseen conveyed me safe, and led me up to man.
Through hidden dangers, toils, and deaths, it gently cleared my way;
And through the pleasing snares of vice, more to be feared than they.

O how shall words with equal warmth the gratitude declare,
That glows within my ravished heart? But thou canst read it there.
Thy bounteous hand with worldly bliss hath made my cup run o’er;
And, in a kind and faithful Friend, hath doubled all my store.

Ten thousand thousand precious gifts my daily thanks employ;
Nor is the last a cheerful heart that tastes those gifts with joy.
When worn with sickness, oft hast Thou with health renewed my face;
And, when in sins and sorrows sunk, revived my soul with grace.

Through every period of my life Thy goodness I’ll pursue
And after death, in distant worlds, the glorious theme renew.
Through all eternity to Thee a joyful song I’ll raise;
For, oh, eternity’s too short to utter all Thy praise!

Praise the Lord!

Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come to You.
Psalm 102:1

:poly:

Lord, Hear My Prayer

Lord, hear my prayer, and let my cry have ready access unto Thee;
When in distress to Thee I fly, O hide not Thou Thy face from me.
Attend, O Lord, to my desire, O haste to answer when I pray;
For grief consumes my strength like fire, my days as smoke pass swift away.

My heart is withered like the grass, and I forget my daily bread;
In lonely grief my days I pass and sad my thoughts upon my bed.
My foes reproach me all the day, my drink is tears, my bread is grief,
For in Thy wrath I pine away, my days are like a fading leaf.

But Thou, Jehovah, shalt endure, Thy throne forever is the same;
And to all generations sure shall be Thy great memorial name.
The time for Zion’s help is near, the time appointed in Thy love;
O let Thy gracious aid appear, look Thou in mercy from above.

O Lord, regard the prayer of those who love the walls of Zion well,
Whose hearts are heavy for her woes, who sad amid her ruins dwell.
Thy power and glory shall appear, and Zion’s walls shall be restored;
Then all the kings of earth shall fear and heathen nations serve the Lord.

The Lord, exalted on His throne, looked down from Heav’n with pitying eye
To still the lowly captive’s moan and save His people doomed to die.
All men in Zion shall declare His gracious name with one accord,
When kings and nations gather there to serve and worship God the Lord.

He shall regard the prayer of the destitute.
Psalm 102:17

The Lord Has Heard and Answered Prayer

The Lord has heard and answered prayer
And saved His people in distress;
This to the coming age declare,
That they His holy name may bless.
All men in Zion shall declare
His gracious name with one accord,
When kings and nations gather there
To serve and worship God the Lord.

Before my journey is complete
My vigor fails, my years decline;
My God, O spare me, I entreat;
The days of life are wholly Thine.
The earth and heav’ns shall pass away,
Like vesture worn and laid aside,
But changeless Thou shalt live for aye,
Thy years forever shall abide.

Thou, O Jehovah, shalt endure;
Thy throne forever is the same;
And to all generations sure
Shall be Thy great memorial name.
Thy servants’ children shall remain
Forevermore before Thy face;
Enduring honor they shall gain,
Established ever in Thy grace.

I will praise You, O LORD, with my whole heart;
I will tell of all Your marvelous works.

Psalm 9:1

:poly:

Sunday Morning Praise

Lord, Thee I’ll Praise With All My Heart

Lord, Thee I’ll praise with all my heart,
And all Thy wondrous works proclaim;
In Thee, O Thou Most High, I’ll joy
And sing the praise of Thy great name.

When back my enemies were turned,
They fell and perished at Thy sight.
Thou hast maintained my right and cause,
And on Thy throne sat judging right.

The nations, Lord, Thou hast rebuked,
The wicked Thou hast overthrown;
Their very names are blotted out,
That they may never more be known.

Their ruin Thou hast made complete;
Their cities Thou hast laid in heaps;
With them their name has passed away,
Their memory in oblivion sleeps.

The Lord forever shall endure,
He hath for judgment set His throne,
In righteousness to judge the world,
And justice give to every one.

Jehovah shall a refuge prove,
A refuge strong for poor oppressed;
A safe retreat where weary souls
In troublous times may find a rest.

Because You have been my help,
Therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.

Psalm 63:7

:poly:

Again, as Evening Shadow’s Fall

Again, as evening’s shadow falls,
We gather in these hallowed walls;
And vesper hymn and vesper prayer
Rise mingling on the holy air.

May struggling hearts that seek release
Here find the rest of God’s own peace;
And, strengthened here by hymn and prayer,
Lay down the burden and the care.

O God, our light! to Thee we bow;
Within all shadows standest Thou;
Give deeper calm than night can bring;
Give sweeter songs than lips can sing.

Life’s tumult we must meet again,
We cannot at the shrine remain;
But in the spirit’s secret cell
May hymn and prayer forever dwell.

Our Soldier Heroes Sleeping

They’ll never cross the valleys, or crystal waters sweet,
They’ll never face the foeman, when charging armies meet;
O’er mountains, vast and hoary, o’er hill and grassy plain,
Our soldier heroes sleeping, shall never march again.

We’ll call our hosts together, from over land and sea,
They’ll never hear the trumpet, or sound of reveille;
Our country’s flag shall lead them a host as strong and brave,
As they who sleep in silence, where flowers o’er them wave.

They fought and won the battle, those hero boys of ours,
And we are left to weep them and strew their graves with flow’rs;
They’ve won the palms of glory, they wear the rose of grace,
Beneath His crown of sunlight their souls shall see His face.

Their feet shall cross the valleys, and Eden’s rivers sweet,
They’ll lie beside the fountains, where angels joyful meet;
But ’mid their country’s battles, o’er any earthy plain,
Our soldier heroes sleeping, shall never march again.

They’ll shall never march again, never march again,
Our soldier heroes sleeping, shall never march again.
They’ll never march again, never march again,
Our soldier heroes sleeping, yes, shall never march again.

The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.

Psalm 121:8

:poly:

For the Dear Ones Parted From Us

For the dear ones parted from us
We would raise our hymns of prayer;
By the tender love which watcheth
Round Thy children everywhere,
Holy Father, Holy Father,
Keep them ever in Thy care.

Through each trial and temptation,
Dangers faced by night and day,
By the infinite compassion
Pleading for souls that stray,
Loving Savior, Loving Savior,
Keep them in the narrow way.

In their hours of doubt and sorrow,
When their faith is sorely tried,
By the grace divine which strengthens,
Souls for whom the Savior died,
Gracious Spirit, Gracious Spirit,
Be Thou evermore their Guide.

In their joys, by friends surrounded,
In their strife, by foes oppressed,
May Thy blessing still be with them,
May Thy presence give them rest,
God Almighty, God Almighty,
Father, Son, and Spirit blest.

The coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him.
2 Thessalonians 2:1

:poly:

What a Gathering

On that bright and golden morning, when the Son of Man shall come,
And the radiance of His glory we shall see;
When from ev’ry clime and nation He shall call His people home,
What a gath’ring of the ransomed that will be!

When the blest, who sleep in Jesus, at His bidding shall arise
From the silence of the grave, and from the sea,
And with bodies all celestial they shall meet Him in the skies,
What a gath’ring and rejoicing there will be!

When our eyes behold the city, with its many mansions bright,
And its river, calm and restful, flowing free;
When the friends that death hath parted shall in bliss again unite,
What a gath’ring and a greeting there will be!

O the King is surely coming, and the time is drawing nigh,
When the blessed day of promise we shall see;
Then the changing “in a moment,” “in the twinkling of an eye,”
And forever in His presence we shall be.

What a gath’ring, what a gath’ring,
What a gath’ring of the ransomed in the summer land of love!
What a gath’ring, what a gath’ring, that will be
Of the ransomed in that happy home above.

We shall all be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye…For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 1 Cor. 15:51-52

:poly:

In The Twinkling Of An Eye

When the trump of the great archangel
Its mighty tones shall sound,
And, the end of the age proclaiming,
Shall pierce the depths profound;
When the Son of Man shall come in His glory
To take the saints on high,
What a shouting in the skies from the multitudes that rise,
Changed in the twinkling of an eye.

When He comes in the clouds descending,
And they who loved Him here,
From their graves shall awake and praise Him
With joy and not with fear;
When the body and the soul are united,
And clothed no more to die,
What a shouting there will be when each other’s face we see,
Changed in the twinkling of an eye.

O the seed that was sown in weakness
Shall then be raised in pow’r
And the songs of the blood bought millions
Shall hail that blissful hour;
When we gather safely home in the morning,
And night’s dark shadows fly,
What a shouting on the shore when we meet to part no more,
Changed in the twinkling of an eye.

Changed in the twinkling of an eye,
Yes! Changed in the twinkling of an eye,
The trumpet shall sound, the dead shall be raised,
Changed in the twinkling of an eye.

Wealth that can never be told!

Jewels whose luster our lives may adorn,
Pearls that the poorest may wear!

Oh, the unsearchable riches of Christ!
Freely, how freely they flow,
Making the souls of the faithful and true
Happy wherever they go!

Oh, the unsearchable riches of Christ!
Who would not gladly endure
Trials, afflictions, and crosses on earth,
Riches like these to secure!

Precious, more precious,
Wealth that can never be told!

Praise the Lord!

The love of Christ which passes knowledge.
Ephesians 3:19

:poly:

It Passes Knowledge

It passes knowledge, that dear love of Thine!
My Jesus! Savior! yet this soul of mine
Would of that love, in all its depth and length,
Its height and breadth, and everlasting strength
Know more and more.

It passes telling! that dear love of Thine!
My Jesus! Savior! yet these lips of mine
Would fain proclaim to sinners far and near
A love which can remove all guilty fear,
And love beget.

It passes praises! that dear love of Thine!
My Jesus! Savior yet this heart of mine
Would sing a love so rich, so full, so free,
Which brought an undone sinner, such as me,
Right home to God.

But though I cannot tell, or sing, or know,
The fullness of Thy love while here below,
My empty vessel I may freely bring:
O Thou, who art of love the living spring,
My vessel fill.

I am an empty vessel not one thought,
Or look of love to Thee I ever brought;
Yet I may come, and come again to Thee,
With this the empty sinner’s only plea
“Thou lovest me!”

Oh! fill me Jesus Savior with Thy love;
Lead, lead me to the living fount above!
Thither may I in simple faith draw nigh
And never to another fountain fly,
But unto Thee.

And when my Jesus face to face I see,
When at His lofty throne I bow the knee,
Then of His love, in all its breadth and length,
Its height and depth, its everlasting strength,
My soul shall sing.
