It appears that some Catholics want to distance themselves from Pagan practices.

All while they are enjoying eating their "wafer god," with that same wafer god, hanging on a cross, in the background, as a victim, being re-sacrificed, over, and over again, at the local Roman Catholic Organization meeting.

There is some really deep irony in the RCC, that great repository of icons and relics for veneration, banning Christmas decorations and a jolly depiction of a saint, Nikolaos of Myra (a Greek bishop!).

But I guess at least they are being consistent in their condemnation of human joy and celebration.
