CNN Reporter Shocked To Discover Mike Pence's Wife Is A Traditional Christian. Shapiro Wrecks Her With One Tweet.

On Wednesday night, CNN reporter Kate Bennett, who describes herself as “on the FLOTUS beat,” took her hint from a Huffington Post article about Vice President Pence’s wife Karen titled, “Karen Pence Is Working At A School That Bans LGBTQ Employees And Kids." Bennett tweeted, “So, lemme get this straight, the second lady of the United States has chosen to work at a school that openly discriminates against LGBT adults and children.”

Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro flattened Bennett on Twitter, firing back, “So, lemme get this straight: you’re a reporter but you’ve never heard of religious people before.”

In case Bennett hadn't heard of religious people before, Shapiro enlightened her, tweeting, “BREAKING: Pence’s wife is working for a Christian school that requires that Christian students pledge to abide by Christian standards of sin that have not changed in 2,000 years.”

He then pointed out that Bennett wasn’t all that tolerant herself: "Which is more discriminatory: a private school requiring that its voluntary attendees abide by a code of conduct, or people saying such a school should not exist because that school disagrees with their ideas?"

Karen Pence teaching art at religious school in Virginia
Virginia elementary school that bans gay employees and students hires Second Lady Karen Pence to teach art

  • Karen Pence, wife of Vice President Mike Pence, will teach art to elementary students twice a week
  • She returned to her former employer, the Immanuel Christian School in Northern Virginia
  • The school does not permit students who are LGBTQ or who have LGBTQ parents to enroll
  • Anyone who applies for a job at the school must also renounce support for homosexual activity
  • Virginia law permits private institutions to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity

Human Rights Campaign, one of the most prominent civil rights groups advocating on behalf of LGBTQ Americans, condemned the Second Lady's decision to return to the school.

'Why not teach at a school that welcomes everyone, instead of choosing one that won’t serve LGBTQ kids, kids of LGBTQ parents?' said JoDee Winterhof, HRC's Senior Vice President for Policy and Political Affairs.

JoDee Winterhof seems to be a special kind of idiot for asking "Why not teach at a school that forces you to abandon your religious beliefs?"

(Don't you love the way Daily Mail changed the title of the news article from a non-controversial one into click-bait?)

Pence to critics of wife's new job: 'Attacking Christian education is deeply offensive'

Vice President Pence responded to critics questioning his wife’s new job teaching at a school that prohibits LGBT students and faculty by saying attacks on Christian education are “deeply offensive.”

Pence spoke with EWTN host Lauren Ashburn in an interview airing Thursday for the Catholic news program about the backlash following Karen Pence announcing she's taking a job at Immanuel Christian School in Springfield, Va.

“My wife and I have been in the public eye for quite a while but I have to tell you, to see major news organizations attacking Christian education is deeply offensive,” Pence said.

“We have a rich tradition in America of Christian education and, frankly, religious education broadly defined. We celebrate it,” Pence said. “The freedom of religion is enshrined in the Constitution of the United States. The Constitution prohibits a religious test for holding public office, so we’ll let the critics roll off our back.”

“But this criticism of Christian education in America should stop,” he concluded.

Bravo. :BRAVO:

how about "because we care enough about our children to teach them that sexual perversion is immoral"?

From the same article:

source

The Trevor Project, a group dedicated to suicide prevention for LGBT youth, announced on Wednesday that it would be sending 100 copies of a parody book depicting the Pence family’s bunny as gay to Immanuel Christian School.

Does the Trevor Project expect Immanuel Christian School to replace their Bibles with the parody books that depict the Pence family’s bunny as gay?
(I guess they really are that stupid).

Left Opens War On All Religious Schools By Targeting Where Karen Pence Works

Pence and his wife are traditional Christians, and the frightening undertone of the criticism is of progressives advancing state-regulated religious practice. While there is room for discussion about the experience of a young person who is gay or has gender dysphoria in this particular school or any of the others referenced above, it is equally relevant to point out that the school makes it clear it is the rejection of moral conduct and not the person that is at issue.

The left has grown to feel entitled to impose their worldview onto every conceivable situation and expect those they target to accept their morality. While only Christians are targeted for public shaming, the legal consequences of progressive demands will affect all traditional religious private schools equally. The fate of religious education falls into the hands of the people most intolerant to it, and that should concern all of us.

Despite what the left argues, Christian morality standards are not extreme or dangerous. It is perfectly acceptable to disagree with them calmly, and if you do you would never sign that application. Tolerance largely involves leaving other people alone.

In this, the Pences deserve a break from the near-constant alarm-ringing for moral outrage over their personal religious practice. Furthermore, all religious education systems deserve autonomy and freedom. Regardless of how a person views his or her beliefs, it really isn’t anyone’s business other than those who choose to participate.

The left wants LGBTQ to become the official religion of the United States of America.

For a nihilist Christ denier, Shapiro is pretty cool politically.

2020 Odds, GOP Style: There's Trump, Pence, Ryan And ... Shapiro

A leading online betting site, Bettingonline.com, has ranked the odds of various political figures being elected president in 2020. As expected, President Trump leads the way; his odds are 3-2. Among Republicans, the first three places are what you’d expect: Mike Pence’s odds are 16-1 and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan’s are 40-1.

But in fourth place, tied with U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and Utah Senator Orrin Hatch at 50-1, is Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro.

Ben Shapiro for President?
America has done much worse.

Karen Pence, Are You Now, or Have You Ever Been, Part of a Christian Ministry?

Karen Pence is a believing Christian woman. She took a part-time job at a private Christian school. And this, believe it or not, is a scandal. Don’t believe me? Her job has already merited not just one, but two critical Washington Post stories. There’s the obligatory CNN report, accompanied by a piece of commentary that argues the school is “like a real-life setting for ‘The Handmaid’s Tale.’”

Sounds terrible. Has she joined a fringe Christian cult? Have the Branch Davidians descended on Northern Virginia? Are teachers kept in a form of sex slavery to produce children for the principal? Let’s let the New York Times set the lurid scene:

Karen Pence, the second lady of the United States, returned to teaching art this week, accepting a part-time position at a private Christian school that does not allow gay students and requires employees to affirm that marriage should only be between a man and a woman.

Hmm, something doesn’t seem right. I’ve been involved in Christian education for much of my life. I attended a Christian college, my oldest kids attended a dozen consecutive years of Christian schooling, I served a term as chairman of their school’s board, and I’ve represented Christian institutions for more than two decades, and I’ve never once seen a Christian institution declare that no gays are allowed.

Instead, many thousands of Christian schools have statements of faith and codes of conduct that require teachers and sometimes students and parents to agree with the school’s theological doctrine and comply with a code of conduct. They don’t say, “No gays allowed.” They say, “Here is what we believe, and here is how you must behave.”

And sure enough, that’s exactly what Immanuel Christian School does. It’s a ministry of the Immanuel Bible Church, it has adopted the church’s essentials of the faith, and it has created a “parent agreement” that contains the following relevant language:

I understand the biblical role of Immanuel Christian School is to partner with families to encourage students to be imitators of Christ. This necessarily involves the school’s understanding and belief regarding biblical morality and standards of conduct. I understand that the school reserves the right, within its sole discretion, to refuse admission to an applicant or to discontinue enrollment of a student if the atmosphere or conduct within a particular home, the activities of a parent or guardian, or the activities of the student are counter to, or are in opposition to, the biblical lifestyle the school teaches. This includes, but is not limited to contumacious behavior, divisive conduct, and participating in, supporting, or condoning sexual immorality, homosexual activity or bi-sexual activity, promoting such practices, or being unable to support the moral principles of the school. (Lev. 20:13 and Romans 1:27.) I acknowledge the importance of a family culture based on biblical principles and embrace biblical family values such as a healthy marriage between one man and one woman. My role as spiritual mentor to my children will be taken seriously.

Let me translate this from Christianese: You must conduct yourself in accordance with historic, orthodox Christian teaching about human sexuality. And, let’s be clear, any person — regardless of their sexual orientation and whether they suffer from gender dysphoria — can both agree with and comply with the moral statements above. There are countless same-sex-attracted Christians who do. There are many thousands of Christians with gender dysphoria who do.

Why? Because these Christians share with other orthodox Christians the notion that their fundamental identity is not defined by their sexuality or perceived gender identity but rather by their faith in Christ.

Simply put, this is Christianity 101, and if the New York Times, the Washington Post, and CNN find it problematic enough to report that Christians are Christians, then it’s rather clear that institutional support for gay marriage under civil law is now veering into institutional hostility against Christian orthodoxy and against the basic free exercise of the Christian faith.

WALSH: The Left Is Outraged Because Mike Pence's Wife Got A Job At A Christian School

The Left is revealing something and we ought to take the revelation seriously. For many years they claimed that they are not interested in suppressing or outlawing Christianity. Rather, they want to live according to their own beliefs without Christians shoving the Bible down their throats or forcing them to accept biblical principles. "Just keep your religion to yourself and you'll be fine," they assured us.

Well, I have always had a problem with the idea that religion is something we must keep to ourselves. Indeed, the Christian faith requires exactly the opposite. But in the case of Karen Pence and her new employer, they are doing exactly what the Left demanded. This school is merely trying to operate by biblical principles within its own walls and on its own property. It is a Christian school simply being a Christian school. It isn't bothering anyone. It isn't invading anyone's home and lecturing them about their sexual behavior. It isn't preventing anyone from working or living or enjoying their lives. It is just saying, very reasonably, very unobtrusively, "We are going to conduct ourselves according to Christian moral tradition. If you don't want to accept that moral tradition, then by all means go somewhere else."

This is exactly, precisely, the approach that the Left for years endorsed and insisted upon. But suddenly it's a problem. Suddenly, even Christianity behind closed doors, on private property, in a private school, is a target of outrage and scorn. It was a lie all along. They were never planning to stop outside the walls of our homes and our churches and our schools. That's just what they said to lull us to sleep.

Now the next phase begins.

i believe the left has been veering in this direction for decades

a question for those older than me, or more learned - when did this start?

it doesn't seem to have been a factor in american life in the fifties or the sixties

when did the left become hostile to Christianity and moral values?

Karen and Mike Pence's astonishing moral hypocrisy

By Clay Cane, resident retard

(CNN)Karen Pence, the wife of America's vice president, Mike Pence will be teaching art at a Christian school in Virginia that bans LGBTQ children and requires employees to declare their religious beliefs. Like a real-life setting for "The Handmaid's Tale," Immanuel Christian School insists applicants initial a pledge to "live a personal life of moral purity."

Listen to what else the pledge says: "I understand that the term 'marriage' has only one meaning; the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive covenant union as delineated in Scripture." It asserts that God intended sexual acts only between "a man and a woman who are married to each other." It identifies "moral misconduct" that would disqualify employees as premarital sex, cohabitation, extramarital sex, homosexual or lesbian sexual activity, polygamy, transgender identity, any other violation of the unique roles of male and female."
This language is disgusting and insults millions of taxpaying American citizens, many who have served their country. That it is acceptable to the wife of the man who is a heartbeat away from the presidency should horrify and alarm all Americans.

Karen and Mike Pence are conservative, evangelical Christians who share beliefs about religion and politics. They have every right to do this. ("It's absurd that her decision to teach art to children at a Christian school, and the school's religious beliefs, are under attack," said Kara Brooks, a spokeswoman for Pence.) But consider Mike Pence's position of power in this country: He regularly stands shoulder to shoulder with his boss, Donald Trump. He has access to and can influence a President who is very interested in maintaining support among evangelicals.
For all their professed beliefs, Pence, and his wife, show unwavering support for a man who has been married three times, divorced twice, has had five children with three women and who has been accused of (though denies) paying a porn star and a Playboy model hundreds of thousands of dollars to conceal affairs he'd had with them.

The hypocrisy here, and indeed from white evangelical Trump supporters, is astonishing. As of April, white evangelical support for Trump was at an all-time high: 75%. Disturbingly, as he left the White House, President Barack Obama enjoyed the favorable view of only 24% of white evangelicals.
Obama, a man who had no sex scandals, was never accused of sexual harassment, had two children with the same woman, couldn't crack 25% white evangelicals. Of course, race is a huge reason, but Hillary Clinton only received 16% of the white evangelical vote.

For white evangelicals, it appears to be Trump over country -- and Karen Pence is a glowing example.
The school where Karen Pence will work — and indeed she has taught there in the past, for 12 years -- does have a legal right to its brand of hate. But it is deplorable for the wife of the vice president to work in this space. (One wonders, for example, how the sexuality of the kids there will be investigated?)
It comes down to this: If the Pences love their God so much, then they would not sit in a White House with a man who shows no moral compass and said he never asks for forgiveness. They would be on the White House lawn, with the King James Bible in hand, disavowing a President who is a horrible representation for our children.
If Karen Pence loves "moral purity," she would have denounced Melania Trump for — for example -- posing naked and in handcuffs for a men's magazine when she worked as a model. If she and her husband want to sign a pledge of moral purity, they should first hand it to the President of the United States for his own signature.

Instead, Karen Pence works for a school that bans some children, which is un-American and soulless.
