King James Bible vs corrupted Alexandrian Texts

The KJV Bible has served Christians for 400 years. The KJV was translated from what has been called the Majority Text, the Textus Receptus, or Byzantine text type. New manuscripts were 'discovered' or promoted from obscurity into prominence in the 19th century, the most prominent of which are the Sinaiticus and Vaticanus, and these variant manuscripts are known as Alexandrian texts.

Westcott and Hort became famous for translating the Alexandrian texts into the Revised Version of 1881, a badly mangled Bible version. Sadly, almost all modern versions of the Bible have been majorly influenced by the Alexandrian text corruptions.

The KJV Bible has served English speaking Christians for 400 years, which is a teeny tiny number of all Christians spanning 2,000 years. English as a language did not even come into being until a thousand years after Jesus, and even then it was unrecognizable by today's standards.

"KJV Only" people practice a special sort of racism that they are blind to, that somehow their Bible named after a white homosexual King is the greatest thing since sliced bread. You guys do know that King James was a homosexual right?

Plus it is missing the books that the reformers ripped out of the Bible.

No, Christianity has been around for 2,000 years while believers have been around for 6,000 years and the written word of God has been around for 4,000 years. God has not preserved His word in every scrap of sloppy writing but has preserved His word through the extreme care of Bible-believing, God-fearing scholars who were very careful to get every detail of the written word right as they either transcribed it or translated it. Westcott and Hort were not careful scholars and they used junk to fashion a new Greek text that has since become a mainstay for every bad modern English translation.

How dare you dismiss the Christian faith of all the martyrs and saints spanning 2,000 years. How dare you. Just who the hell do you think you are. That single post made you a far worse person than User Name will ever be with his snotty socialist one liners.

"believers have been around for 6,000 years and the written word of God has been around for 4,000 years"

The insane arrogance of that statement is almost unbelievable. And the hate! All the Christian martyrs who allowed themselves to be fed to the Lions and crucified for their belief, you think that you and whitey in the pew next to you are more Christian than they are?

And as a matter of record: The first complete Bible was The Vulgate, created by Saint Jerome, commissioned by Pope Damasus I, compiled in the late 4th century, and it was in the language of the people, because Latin WAS the language of the people in the 4th century.

I am speechless at your hateful, ignorant and arrogant response. I say again: How dare you dismiss the Christian faith of all the martyrs and saints spanning 2,000 years. How dare you.

"the written word of God has been around for 4,000 years". Unbelievable.

I have no idea what you are raging on about. Paul collected his writings in the first century and those writings were the first written documents that formed the preserved written word of God beginning in the first century.

So it's impossible to translate the Hebrew and Greek into English?

And yet the KJV condemns homosexuality more strongly than the "new" English versions.
Plus it is missing the books that the reformers ripped out of the Bible.
Please actually make an argument.

The RCC does not represent Christians they represent their own form of idolatry and blasphemy at every mass. The RCC claims they alone produced the collected scriptures, which of course is a lie. I have even seen deluded RC’s take credit for producing the OT, which of course is a lie. No one dismissed martyrs and saints, but liars and charlatans are dismissed.

I do not recall saying that.
Then you should be more clear. Because it was not clear what you were getting at.
How about that. Why name the book after one then.
Because he commissioned the translation. Is that really hard to understand?
I stated a fact. I will leave the arguing to others.
You made a claim without any support whatsoever.
Exiting thread.
Your choice.

I use the KJV almost exclusively in my study of the Apocalypse for two reasons. KJV people are my target audience. KJV is in the Public Domain. There are times when I cannot use the KJV. One example is KJV considers the beast in the Apocalypse a 'he'. In Daniel the beast is clearly an 'it'. John knows Daniel and it is clear to me that they are talking about the same beasts based on the ten horns.

I suspect the beast is clearly both an it and a he. God sometimes uses strange wordings to describe spiritual truth, as in this verse:

Luke 1:35
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

I have found the KJV to be quite accurate when comparing its words with the Hebrew and Greek, But I use other versions also.

The problem behind most modern versions is not the English translation of the Greek, but the accuracy of the Greek texts used to translate the Greek.
