Is The Physical Realm Analogous To A Simulated Reality?

God created us IN reality, with faculties by which we genuinely perceive and reason about reality. Those faculties are finite. They can malfunction. They don't reveal everything that exists. None of that entails that our ordinary experience is a simulated or virtual reality.

No one is saying our experiences are not real.

Our 5 senses are finite and can malfunction, yes. Obviously. The Lord could have made them better if He wanted to. But He doesn't seem to have a very high regard for the universe. More important is what's in our hearts. The universe is like nothing to Him. Revelation 20:11 describes it as though it were a speck. A thing, like gnat, that flies from His face. And not only that, but that thing will be destroyed. And it will be remembered no more.

Isaiah 65:17

See, I will create
new heavens and a new earth.
The former things will not be remembered,
nor will they come to mind.

The physical realm can invoke genuine response in our spirit. But our spirit is not our brain. (WE are not our brains. The brain merely serves as an interface between the spirit and the physical realm)

Color only exists in the mind (you can look it up if you don't believe me) -in the spiritual part of us. Not in our bodies. Not in the brain our anywhere in the physical realm. The same for Joy, and Love and Anger. Our experiences are real (they exist in our spirit and God experiences them). But a rock is not an experience.

Your examples don't establish otherwise.

A color-blind person having impaired access to color doesn't establish that color perception generally is virtual.

It establishes that color ultimately exists in the spiritual realm. Color blindness is just a physical defect.

Think of it this way:

There is water in the physical realm and there is water in Heaven, flowing from the throne of God. But the water in Heaven, presumably isn't made of atoms (atoms can be destroyed). So which one is the real water? I would say that it's the water in the spiritual realm because that's where it existed first. The water in the physical realm is called water because it is like the spiritual water in some way.

That is typically the purpose of a simulation, to show us what things are like. A flight simulator shows us what it is like to fly a plane.

And yes:

The mind is real.

That doesn't establish that the mind is a simulator.

There is more to reality than we presently perceive.

That does not make what we presently perceive less real.

What we perceive of a flight simulator is also real in the sense that we perceive a flight simulation. So what? JR, when a baby dies, is he really dead or is he with God in Heaven?
