You know the answer to that. Why are you asking the question?

i could google him, i suppose, but i thoiught you might know

You mean has Pete ever lost massive amounts of money and been through multiple bankruptcies totaling billions? No.

no, i didn't mean that

Oh, do you mean has Pete served in the military? Why yes... yes he has.

didn't mean that either, and didn't know it - what was his spec?

I highly doubt I'm telling you something you don't already know, but here's the first line of wiki for you anyway:

Peter Paul Montgomery Buttigieg is an American former naval intelligence officer who has been the mayor of South Bend, Indiana since 2012.

I was thinking the same. Clinton, Trump (in the past), JFK ...

...FDR...Jimmy Carter was probably the last honest-to-goodness Bible believing Christian to be President and that didn't work out well for him or America. I'm still :liberals: my head as to how someone can claim to be a follower of Jesus Christ and also marry another man?

He is a happily married man who hasn’t been married multiple times, committed adultery or sexual assault or paid hush money to a porn star.
That’s a step up.

Not if he thinks he is married to a man. I don't even know. I do know that there was an after video to my brain and life with the people around me after trying to listen to the video on the bus this morning (with my ear buds, couldn't hear with bus noise).

There's no law limiting the presidency to heterosexuals.

I don't claim to be a heterosexual (I am not sure about the ramifications of using the term, as if to be normal or follow the natural course of nature is to hate people or something), but I suppose that is what I am. I don't see anything about heterosexuals in the Constitution. That doesn't mean the Constitution allows for sin in our lives. Limiting the presidency? I would love to be the President of the United States of America. But I don't want any sin in my life. Yours is a bad argument, because you are condoning (approving) homosexuality.

Romans 1:32 NASB - 32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

Nor to ones who hire prostitutes? How far down the moral/immoral rabbit hole do we have to go before something is wrong (or none of it is)?

I'm simply asking, whether morals do or should play a part in the presidency and then wondering, if so, "who's?"

The OP is a little different than this question, BUT it seems to me, this is the one that is actually being addressed.

The OP simply asks if the guy can be a Christian in any true sense. I wonder if it is thus, in the wrong section? Perhaps religion?

It seems to have been acceptable for the current president.

Separation of church and state, Lon. What's legal is allowable.

Politically then, the thread would be mostly over but for a few notes and clarifications, perhaps.

The spiritual aspect is overshadowed by this sections political concerns but...

"Christian" has several layers of meaning. One is how one chooses to identify themselves, by attendance, affiliation, and membership.

In Theology, Christian goes further in depth concerning their relationship with Christ. A gay man may have some grasps of scripture concerning his (or her) relationship with the Savior Jesus Christ. Scripture gives indication whereby "their fruits you shall know them." I believe scripture indicates a person in Christ may very well live inconsistently. 1 Corinthians 6:11 2 Corinthians 5:17 yet scripture prescription is to walk as a new creation Galatians 5:16,17 Paul gave clear directions concerning marriage as 'spiritual' such that there are unions in Christ, and unions of the flesh in his description.

Again, I think whether he/she should be president is indeed a political discussion and I believe you are correct, we have very few qualifications as a country for who can be seated in that office. For me, that alone is an incredibly interesting and meaningful thread all on its own. It seems the forefathers rested in the values of the people to filter political offices. We simply do not address "morally fit" for political office other than as we have insubstantial concerns. -Lon

Is Pete Buttigieg Really a Christian?

Unless God has, in His infinite wisdom, delegated to the self-righteous conservatives in this Forum the authority to look into the hearts of mankind and determine who is/isn't a Christian, perhaps they should forgo passing divine judgement on others!

It has to do with what the Bible says. See 1 Corinthians 6. It says such were some of you.

Given that we are all sinners, it would appear to be an exercise in futility to attempt to determine as to which sins would disqualify someone from becoming a Christian - if the Thief on the Cross can receive salvation, who are we to pass judgement based on superficial appearances!

According to scriptures, including above, the Christian is supposed to judge those within the church.
