"for God so love the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life".

Jesus made it clear what immortal soul is in this verse.

Why do so many question about it?

blessings.

If you are saying there is anything immortal about us that "survives" our first death then ... no ... Bible does not teach this. One is either mortal or immortal, one can not be both.

Bible teaches we are not immortal and do not become immortal until we are resurrected, then we are changed. And yes, in that context ... John 3 16 applies, after reserrection we received eternal/immortal life. A "soul" is what you are ... a being .... a person.

1 Corinthians 15

50I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. 53For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.

1 Thessalonians 4

13But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. 14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 15For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. 18Therefore comfort one another with these words.

The dead are resurrected .... those alive at the time are translated/transformed.

John 5

28Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who have done good (1st reserrection) to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil (2nd reserrection) to the resurrection of judgment.

Genesis 46:26

King James Bible

All the souls (people) that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, besides Jacob's sons' wives, all the souls were threescore and six;

Exodus 1:5

King James Bible

And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls: for Joseph was in Egypt already.

so eternal soul is not immortal soul?

why so many of you argue about this simple fact?

Meshak... John 3:16 gives only one condition on which a soul does NOT perish...normally it perishes...it is annihilated by One who HATES sin

To avoid being perished by Him but passed over that one condition must be kept...

As it is taught what comes into a man does not make him unclean...but what comes out...a soul entering a body is clean obviously but....

Meshak... John 3:16 gives only one condition on which a soul does NOT perish...(that condition is you believeth on Him if you don’t believeth on Him you perish)

normally it perishes...it is annihilated by One who HATES sin (the One who to fear because He can kill the Soul in the annihilation fires of hell where sin and even death are done away with)

To avoid being perished by Him but passed over that one condition must be kept...(so as it was with Israel in Egypt we need a substitute to perish for us and cover us as He HATES SIN and seeks to destroy it but will pass over us if we are covered hidden IN HIM that is the whosoever believeth in Him part)

As it is taught what comes into a man does not make him unclean...(receiving this soul it is clean and unblemished but do to our sinful nature aided by the corruption of the world around us this gift is quickly sullied and made dirty...so we sacrifice it kill it in the waters of baptism to receive it washed and made clean again...but it is always getting dirty)

but what comes out...a soul entering a body is clean obviously but....(it becomes dirty and in need of washing “replacement” a new heart with a new spirit a new creature...without this repentance and “renewal cleansing” which is the believeth on Him condition being kept from John 3:16 we are NOT hidden in Him abiding in His Love and NOT passed over that final day of wrath and our soul will be annihilated with sin and the dragon and death itself)

Hope that helped...ha

My question is, why so much diversity in such simple logic?

My question is, why so much diversity in such simple logic?

Cuz Satan?

You have forgotten that from the beginning even BEFORE the fruit was eaten Man was created to call...to name...to PARTICIPATE and act as co creator of the world around him...that was the job of Adam...he was to judge (how can you name something without observing it...it’s works purpose and fruit...)and care for and be steward of the garden...he was created with a desire for beauty for harmony and given the ability to retain it even create it by his naming...creating order and purpose...every artist titles his work...

Eve demonstrated this desire and ability at once when she lied about what Yah had said about the fruit forbidden to them...she said they were forbidden to touch the fruit which was NOT what Yah said but an addition to what was said and from the best intended wish to obey...

Satan knew this and exploited this “weakness” this passion for order and beauty and in handing her the fruit she touched it and when she did NOT die she then believed otherwise and ate...she deceived herself

This “creative ability” still exploited by Satan has continued to produce a myriad of counterfeit ways to that which is the TRUE path...Him His Way...

Is why the the “second amendment” of Yah’s top 10 was established to secure the first “I AM GOD THERE IS NO OTHER”...the second amendment of course protects the first as it is exactly MAKE NO IMAGE...lest you corrupt yourselves...and make that “other”...

Alas...Man and his traditions...continues his idolatry...his making the other in his desire to obey

it is just crazy that too many pushing the idea of striving to be obedient is so antichrist.

And it is hard to believe iouae's friend's case. I have never heard of such thing.

I don't believe we get depressed just because we strive to be loyal to Jesus.

James 5:20

New International Version 1984 (NIV1984)
20 remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

His followers are supposed to promote obedience to Jesus but opposite is going on.

They stone Christians who promote obedience to Jesus.

be comforted Meshak...we are to be persecuted for His Name’s sake...pick up your cross Meshak...follow Him His Way...the world will hate us our yoke

And it is hard to believe iouae's friend's case. I have never heard of such thing.
sadly I have all too often...it’s an addictions thingy...even drug addicts clean their life up and go vegan...again it is in our hardwiring to please to groom ourselves each other to be loved accepted...Satan exploits that vulnerability and even Paul the “leading saint” powerfully admits the good he wished to do He did NOT do and that which he wished to do was not...the law of the heart/mind cut down by the law of the flesh...

It is a WAR out here Meshak...wear the whole armor...run the full race...don’t fall on your own sword...

I don't believe we get depressed just because we strive to be loyal to Jesus.
Meshak SNAP OUT OF IT...

Many things happen to us because we strive to be loyal to Yahushua...EliYah wished to die even after witnessing first hand the power of Yah...Solomon despaired...Yahushua Himself mourned struggled...prayed for strength...

iouae’s friend was not completely transparent to him...none of us are to each other...ourselves...no one will know why suicides do it...that is ultimately between him and His Maker...that we decide and judge ourselves for Him and steal His worship (our every breath) is historically frowned upon...and for good reason but again...His Grace and Mercy understands deception...certainly self deception...

And through this Mercy the most heinous of evil can be as insignificant to Him as you misspelling “immortal” in your title for your thread...it is understood...but don’t do it again...LOL

(And as with suicide we should NOT learn to mispell as you did...do as you did)

We trust Him His Way...and comfort those suffering deception...that is the gospel...the Law of Liberty...HalleluYah

Who is questioning the "Immortality of the soul?" Oh, did you just make that up? I kinda think that's what's going on. Know what I mean?

Jesus' teachings supposed to give us peace, not depression.

The peace of a berserker more like...the peace in doing the work and fighting the good fight...

He came not to bring peace but a sword Meshak...you best learn to use it and expect the most serious of counter attacks...and sabotages...be wise as snakes...

It is a great and constant controversy but has a future end...until then we only get a weekly day of rest...He brings it...and adds to it a Comforter...obedience doing what we ought...is its own sacrament...a peace the Spirit leads us into...Him His way
