I will not vote for trump

Until I know he has actual intentions to molest his daughter, I really don't see anything wrong here. I'm not a millennial and therefore the word creepy isn't every fifth word to come out of my mouth.

I find it odd that the same people who show little outrage at mylie Cyrus tweeking on stage also seem to see something dirty and sinister in normal family relations.

I find it odd that you're talking about Miley Cyrus.

Look how they work so hard at explaining the Trump. :chuckle:

yeah - just look:

Okay...as someone who can't be confused with being a fan of Trump...I think of how many mothers have said to someone they were sizing up as a potential mate for their sons, "He's a catch. Handsome. Has a good job. A girl could do a lot worse but not much better" or the like. No one would consider those women to be sexually confused about their relationship with their sons.

Trump objectifies women. I think he's made that pretty clear. He has some unfortunate pigeon holes for them. That said, I think his comments about his daughter were of the same essential stripe as the women I noted. That he was more pointed about it goes to who he is and to his limitations in terms of taste. But I think he meant it the same way. I don't think that he really considered his daughter sexually, except in the abstract of noting the qualities present in her would appeal to him IF she wasn't his daughter. She's a catch, as put a bit more crudely by a man who is, frankly, a bit more crude than someone with his advantages should be.

Meanwhile, back at the White Nationalist Ranch:

Trump Selects a White Nationalist Leader as a Delegate in California

On Monday evening, California's secretary of state published a list of delegates chosen by the Trump campaign for the upcoming Republican presidential primary in the state. Trump's slate includes William Johnson, one of the country's most prominent white nationalists.

...We ended up in a mirrored conference room to meet with three AFP sympathizers, two middle-aged women and a young man. They talked about how Trump had enabled a new kind of "honest discourse," how he wasn't a racist but a "racialist," and how he had left them feeling "emancipated." Johnson also now finds it easier to be himself: "For many, many years, when I would say these things, other white people would call me names: 'Oh, you're a hatemonger, you're a Nazi, you're like Hitler,'" he confessed. "Now they come in and say, 'Oh, you're like Donald Trump.'"

Wonders if there was any outrage over Obama belonging to Reverend Wrights church? Wonders if any Black Panthers were selected as democrat delegates in the past.

Miley Cyrus is a famous icon in our culture. She is typical of the degradation of it. That is why she is brought up in this context. One is celebrated while the other is looked at with suspicion or outright disgust.

What do you find odd about it?

We're not talking about Miley Cyrus. Or tweeking twerking.

You've managed to make a straw man out of a red herring. Congratulations. :e4e:

The subject was the "creepy" behavior of trump. I simply commented on the one sided outrage. If trumps behavior is so bad, why isn't other peoples behavior like Miley's bad too? The direction I am going with it is this: Our society allows the most outrageous degradation of our culture and yet focuses on individual behavior that affects no one until it is put into media spotlight.

I understand that. I am making comments that weaken your points made against him. If you decide you want to slander my guy, it is a reasonable expectation that I will make comments in defense of him.

Your comments don't weaken my points.

I said Trump's followers are trained (or training themselves) to ignore all the creepy stuff. You don't get to decide for me what I think is creepy.

And I gave a link to information about Trump's white nationalist delegate, and the delegate's own words.

There's no slander, only your red herring-shaped straw man.

Because there's no comparison between a pop star and a presidential candidate. Unless you want to compare pop stardom with reality show hosting.

My comments weaken your points in many peoples eyes. I realize there is nothing I could say to weaken any point of yours in your mind. I never even stated that.

You say trump's followers are training themselves to ignore creepy stuff. I deny that. I never denied you thought it was creepy.

You brought up the white nationalist delegate through a link. I responded to it by putting it in balance. So?

Me thinks "red herring" doesn't mean what you seem to think it means.

Making comments that seem to imply Trump is a budding child molester and white supremacist is indeed slander. It is passive aggressive but slander nonetheless.

The comparison I am making is real; not the simple comparison of a pop star and a presidential candidate.

The comparison is between what things our society deems important. Society overlooks and even celebrates perversity broadcast over the airwaves. Society often uses those same broadcast airwaves to take private family matters and look perversely at them in order to destroy someone. It matters not who the people involved are.

Maybe you make points for the benefit of other people, but I don't make points for other people. I make them to express my own thoughts and opinions.

I realize there is nothing I could say to weaken any point of yours in your mind. I never even stated that.

I realize there's nothing I could say that would keep you from thinking anything but the worst of me.

You say trump's followers are training themselves to ignore creepy stuff. I deny that. I never denied you thought it was creepy.

My opinion. Not much you can do about that.

You brought up the white nationalist delegate through a link. I responded to it by putting it in balance. So?

You didn't put it in balance. You called a direct quote from a news article "slander."

Me thinks "red herring" doesn't mean what you seem to think it means.

Well, you didn't know the difference between tweeking and twerking, so let's just say I don't have a lot of confidence in your ability to recognize a red herring when you see one.

Making comments that seem to imply Trump is a budding child molester and white supremacist is indeed slander. It is passive aggressive but slander nonetheless.

I said "creepy." You said "child molester." Look to yourself.

You have a problem with Trump having a white nationalist for a delegate? You should let him know.
